A planned meeting at Taunton has been scrapped for the day.

He is shaping up to be the one to beat in this one as he has made big strides for his new yard.

He enters the action after handicap chase successes at Hexham and Newbury. So he is on the up at the moment without question.

Sao was running on superbly well when he scored last time out at Newbury three weeks ago at 2m.

ON THE FRONT FOOT looks to be a lively contender as well in this field after a runner up spot at Sedgefield.

That was on a slightly longer trip in November over the fences.

So he may well appreciate the drop in trip for this one and has plenty to build on after two solid chase efforts for the new campaign.

The field doesn’t look to be too deep in this one. PRUSSIA WITH LOVE returns for the first time since wind surgery and gets on the sort slit.

She was third over the hurdles at Market Rasen on her latest run, wearing the cheekpieces for the first time. Prussia With Love has placed claims.

MENGLI KHAN is the 13/8 favourite for this trip* (betting odds recorded 20:16 GMT on Thursday, 7th January 2021 at Bet365).

There’s plenty of experience here in Mengli Khan who was a smart chaser for Gorden Elliot.

Back in the day, he was a former flat winner and a Grade 1 chase winner too.

Mengli Khan made his first start for his new yard at Ascot last month on a longer trip and finished well down the field.

He gets the tongue tie refitted and has claims.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

REVE is another that was a flat winner (in France) back in his younger days. The seven year old does appear to have enough to be in the frame in this one.

He was last seen a couple of months ago taking a win at Southwell over an extended 3m in chase action.

QUICK GRABIM is another option in the field to look at. He has had a solid season with a couple of solid performances over the jumps so far this season.

There has been sharp form from him this season, winning both completed efforts over the fences.

The most recent of those was at Taunton a month ago. There is a bit of course and distance history too, with El Kaldoun scoring that in 2018.

So there should be leading claims from the Nicky Henderson-trained gelding.

ALRIGHT JACK is another of the obvious players in this field at Lingfield. He has struggled a little for consistency this season over the fences.

But a blast on the flat should play to his strengths and he gets the cheekpieces on for the first time.

Bushypark completed a four-timer in December on his latest run. The move to handicapping has brought the best out of him over the hurdles.

Given that he is in such good heart at the moment, he will probably be the one to beat in this discipline.

ZAMARKHAN looks as if he could get in the frame as well in the zone. He was a faller on his latest run at Musselburgh in November.

But he was carrying good form before that, which includes a score at Sedgefield in September.

He was still powering along nicely before that fall at Musselburgh. Zamarkhan is strong enough to feature.

OAKENSHIELD comes into his debut on the firebrand and he is an interesting player in his field without a doubt.

He was below form last time out claiming a seventh-place finish in a field of 12 in a Newcastle handicap. That was his first run for his new yard.

If he takes to the surface, he can perform.
