ECOSSAIS was a runner up on his latest effort, which was at Fakenham in December.

That was a clear return to form from him.

Ecossais won three times at Southwell last season, and while he has taken a while to get going this term the timing could be right to consider him.

ONE FORTY SEVEN will have the cheekpieces on for the first time on Friday and should have a chance.

There was a victory for him at Stratford earlier this season but didn’t get as close on either follow up at Cheltenham and Leicester.

Those were stronger fields however and this on paper looks like being a much easier assignment for One Forty Seven.

NO REMATCH also takes on an easier race than he faced last time out at Warwick, so that gives him a chance of a revival.

He failed to complete his last two at Exeter at then Warwick, but he was running with some credit in the first of those.

Tip: ONE FORTY SEVEN 8/1

Ones to watch: No Rematch 7/2, Ecossais 4/1

PATIENT OWNER is light raced but was in very good shape with a place finish at Chepstow a month ago.

He now makes the move over to handicapping and there could be more to come from him if he builds on that last effort.

KAYFAST WARRIOR was a good flat winner and got off the mark over the timbers at Wetherby on his penultimate run.

He followed that with a slightly below-par performance back at the same venue.

But coming into handicapping there are plenty of chances for him.

BEN BRODY is bang in form at the moment and should be heavily involved in the action.

He likes to get to the front and took a win at Uttoxeter in December on a 2 mile trip over the hurdles.

Following a runner up finish at Fontwell 47 days ago, unable to handle a big improver in that one.

Tip: PATIENT OWNER 9/2

Ones to watch: Ben Brody 12/1, Kayfast Warrior 5/2

FANTASTIC LADY is the one to beat in this contest after picking up a win at Warwick last time.

That was in a very similar kind of contest and it was an eye-catching round of jumping that Fantastic Lady put in there.

FORTUNES MELODY stays at the same mark as she was for a runner up spot over the fences at Taunton three weeks ago.

She retains Bryony Frost for the ride and following that big step in the right direction, Fortunes Melody should be a big player.

BELLE DE MANECH gets the cheekpieces go on for the first time in this one in an attempt to sharpen her up again.

She was third at Lingfield three weeks ago, a bit of a tame performance overall.

But she did win on her chase debut at Wincanton three weeks ago.

Tip: FANTASTIC LADY 10/11

Ones to watch: Fortunes Melody 7/2, Belle De Manech 7/1

GETTHEPOT scored at Ayr last year from a mark of 6lb lower. He does not appear to really have had the rub of the green at all this season.

There have been excuses in his last few runs, most recently when the pace was all wrong for him at Southwell.

Getthepot has been eased again and could make his presence felt.

WHAT A GLANCE stayed on well to take a fourth-place finish at Huntingdon on his latest effort, which was his first since a wind op.

The cheekpieces will be worn for the first time and scored in November on his debut for this yard.

Two of his three subsequent runs have been good and looks likely to get involved.

CONCEROE has to be considered dropping in trip for this one. He could hang in there on a 3m trip at Wetherby last time out.

That was his handicap debut, but he’s not to be discounted. On his penultimate run, Conceroe took a hurdles win in December in a Fakenham maiden.

Tip: WHAT A GLANCE 8/1

Ones to watch: Getthepot 7/1, Conceroe 10/1

SMARTY WILD was a runner up at course and distance last month in a handicap effort. That followed a good return at Newbury.

So he should be in the frame on Friday.

Smarty Wild is a previous course winner, taking that score last year from just 1lb lower than his current mark.

FLEGMATIK gets on the shortlist as well after a third-place finish at course and distance 46 days ago.

He has been eased 1lb on the back of that and has Harry Skelton reconnecting with him in the saddle.

There could be more on offer from Flegmatik.

COLONIAL DREAMS is also worth a look in this one as he goes in search of a little revival. He pulled up last time out.

But there was an encouraging start to chasing made by him on his penultimate run at Newbury.

In better conditions here he should have a chance.

Tip: SMARTY WILD 11/4

Ones to watch: Flegmatik 7/2, Colonial Dreams 15/2

ACROSS THE LINE takes on a longer trip on Friday as he looks to return to winning ways.

In November he got his nose in front to score at Southwell.

That was on his third go over the fences.

Across The Line kept on well last time out to stick in there for a gritty second-place finish at Wetherby last month.

PADDYS MOTORBIKE faces a steamer test on the weekend, but can’t be overlooked because of some excellent recent form.

He has won three of his last four runs.

He hasn’t been seen since October when he won his chase debut at Fakenham in impressive fashion.

ELIXIR DE NUTZ got off the mark at the first time of asking on his chase debut at Plumpton 40 days ago.

That was in a novice chase and now he comes over to handicapping where there could be more on offer for him.

Tip: PADDYS MOTORBIKE 9/4

Ones to watch: Elixir De Nutz 5/4, Across The Line 3/1
