Today’s Horse Racing Tips & Odds from Aintree – Saturday, 10th April 2021

Today’s horse racing tips are all from the final day of the Aintree Festival, and yes it’s Grand National day.

We have a full preview of the Grand National that you can go and take a look through.

For this review, however, we are looking at some of the other great fixtures that are happening on the day in the build-up to the National.

So here is the best of today’s horse racing tips for Saturday, 10th April 2021.

Race Favourite

The 5/1 race favourite in this big field at Aintree is TEA CLIPPER* (betting odds recorded 23:11 GMT on April 9th, 2021 at William Hill).

He opened the season with a win at Chepstow at Grade 3 in a handicap. That was back in October before he appeared at the Coral Cup at Cheltenham.

There was an excellent run from him to take fifth in that Festival effort. The longer trip is likely to improve things even further for him.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

CHAMPAGNE PLATINUM is our horse racing tip at 10/1* (betting odds recorded 23:11 GMT on April 9th, 2021 at William Hill).

He fought in the Pertemps at the Cheltenham Festival for a fifth-place finish. That was behind the re-opposing third-placed Come On Teddy.

But Champagne Platinum stays at the same mark and we think that the flatter course here at Aintree is going to be a massive boost to his chances.

This is a wide-open field so we are going to BALLYBEGG for the shortlist. He is seeking a hat-trick and is improving rapidly over the hurdles.

The latest of his scores was in a novice at Wetherby in February and now moves to handicap. There’s a lot of potential in him and the trip looks a great fit as well.

The current 13/8 favourite is MY DROGO* (betting odds recorded 23:11 GMT on April 9th, 2021 at William Hill).

My Drogo sets the standard in this one as he is arguably the top novice around over the hurdles.

He is seeking a four-timer after picking up his third straight. That was 35 days ago in a Grade 2 at Kelso.

That was a wide-margin score as well by 10l and he doesn’t look to be slowing up anytime soon for trainer David Skelton.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

BALLYADAM could have a strong saw in the feature as well.

That’s after not reading the threat of Appreciate it well enough in the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival last month.

But Ballyadam is a top novice here and his second at the Festival puts him firmly on the radar.

The other for the shortlist should be DREAL DEAL and he arrives in form having won the Moscow Flyer. That completed a four-timer for him.

He bypassed the Cheltenham Festival and looks like a very interesting threat in this competitive field.

SHISHKIN is the super-strong outright favourite for horse racing betting in this novices’ chase.

That’s to the tune of 1/8 odds-on* (betting odds recorded 23:11 GMT on April 9th, 2021 at William Hill).

He is the highest-rated novice chaser around and he looks as if he is just going to eat up this field in a bit of a non-contest.

It’s four wins from four for Shishkin this season, the most recent in the Arkle at the recent Cheltenham Festival.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

We have to go to the W/O Shiskin market for any kind of value in horse racing. FUNAMBULA SIVOLA arrives in great nick, having won his last two.

The most recent of those was 13 days ago in a handicap chase at Ascot. That’s four wins from six for him now.

We think that there is something in this for ELVIS MAIL as well who is rapidly developing into a good chaser.

He won at Ayr at the start of the season and has banked runners-up finishes in his last two. The latest of those was with grit at Carlisle three weeks ago.

Race Favourite

The favourite for the Liverpool Hurdle is THYME HILL at 9/4* (betting odds recorded 23:11 GMT on April 9th, 2021 at William Hill).

This is such a good field and it will be interesting to see how he goes after not appearing at the Cheltenham Festival.

However, on his reappearance run, Thyme Hill got the better of Paisley Park before falling to that rival in the Long Walk at Ascot.

So it’s another fascinating duel between these two coming up and with the ground firming up a bit, that could help him further.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

PAISLEY PARK of course has to be mentioned here. He did go at the Cheltenham Festival, taking the third-place finish in the Stayers’.

He had the better of both Thyme Hill and Roksana in the Long Walk in December.

While Paisley Park is a superb horse, the flat track could pose issues in terms of handing speed advantage to rivals.

Based on the Long Walk, we have to pull ROKSANA into the picture as well.

She is extremely likeable and at the Cheltenham Festival recently, took a good third place in the Mares’ Hurdle at 2m 4f.

She has banked wins at Ascot and Wetherby this season and we would expect Roksana to be fully in the mix in this one.

The race favourite for this contest is HAPPYGOLUCKY at 11/4* (betting odds recorded 23:11 GMT on April 9th, 2021 at William Hill).

It has been two wins from four efforts this season and was right in the frame at the Ultima at the Cheltenham Festival recently.

Happygolucky was second in that contest behind an inspired Vintage Clouds in the Grade 3.

The wins this season have come at Cheltenham and Stratford.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

CLOUDY GLEN could be a little underrated in his one as a 9/1 quote* (betting odds recorded 23:11 GMT on April 9th, 2021 at William Hill).

He was second in the Kim Muir at the Festival last month and he ran an absolutely huge race to get that.

Cloudy Glen hasn’t been consistent but has shown clear signs of improvement this season.

SNOW LEOPARDESS has taken very well to chasing and scored a win a Haydock three races ago.

She ran a brilliant one at the Cheltenham Festival in the Rowland Meyrick. It was fourth for her in that one, but it was an eye-catching effort.

Snow Leopardess comes down on a trip which will help.

This is it then, Grand National betting. The outright favourite is CLOTH CAP at 5/1 and he brings stellar form to the table* (betting odds recorded 23:11 GMT on April 9th, 2021 at William Hill).

It has been back to back wins in the Ladbrokes Trophy at Newbury and the Premier Chase at Kelso.

Cloth Cap is such a good stayer and there’s really no reason that we can see as to why he wouldn’t handle this.

Jonjo O’Neill’s 9-year-old is a clear favourite here and has stacks of potential and looks well-in at 14lb for the contest as well.

He’s now shorter-priced than Tiger Roll’s favouritism in 2019.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

LORD DU MESNIL is one of our shortlist selections at 40/1 each way* (betting odds recorded 23:11 GMT on April 9th, 2021 at William Hill).h

He has stacks of a staying power and that’s going to be in question.

On his latest run, he scored at Haydock in the Grand National Trial. The conditions are a little firm, but he has a chance.

Another is ACAPELLA BOURGEOIS who is a little underrated in our view at 28/1* (betting odds recorded 23:11 GMT on April 9th, 2021 at William Hill).

He has bags of staying ability as well and has scrapped well against Burrows Saint before, beating that rival at the Bobbyjo Chase.

The 16/1 rated TAKINGRISKS is the final one of the shortlist* (betting odds recorded 23:11 GMT on April 9th, 2021 at William Hill).

The 2019 Scottish National winner has proven stamina over the extra distances. He has also put the Sky Bet Chase in his trophy cabinet this season.
