Today’s horse racing tips start at Newton Abbot for this handicap hurdle.

The current 2/1 favourite KILMINGTON ROSE does look to be the one to beat* (betting odds recorded 18:16 GMT on July 11th 2021 at William Hill).

There has just been great recent form from her, breaking her maiden at Warwick. Then it was back to back wins here at Newton Abbot for her in completing the hattrick.

The two wins that Kilmington Rose took at this track were both comfortable scores. It’s hard to oppose here on her return.

BREAKING WAVES has some strong place claims, as he took full advantage of his mark to get his nose in front. The handicapper has been after him, giving him 5lb extra to work with.

MR ONE MORE could be another player to watch in this one. He was great in November on his first chase but didn’t follow up. The return to hurdles and the cheekpieces on could offer something of a lift for him.

This is a super competitive sprint that is in play in this fixture. NEWYORKSTATEOFMIND is one of those expected to be in the thick of it.

Newyorkstateofmind is a course and distance winner and he was on the board on his latest run, a 5f trip at Bath just under two weeks ago. That was a career-best and looks to be in with a big chance of a follow-up.

Another course and distance winner in this fixture is MOHAREB. He hasn’t won since 2019. But there was some good encouragement for him last time out at Kempton. Mohareb took third in a big field two months ago.

TOTAL COMMITMENT has it in him to make his presence felt as well. He was below par on his latest effort. That was at Royal Ascot, but he is a former course winner and is a better performer than that last effort.

Six Strings has collected three wins this year, so has been carrying good form. He’s been nice and consistent, taking back to back runners up places on his last two. The most recent of those was a close one at Doncaster 10 days ago. The extra trip could unlock more.

CHARGING THUNDER warrants respect on his handicap debut. He got himself off the mark three weeks ago in a small field at Chepstow. The other obvious contender for the places is FAIRMAC.

He is a good course and winner and is also in decent form. He landed third at Chester on his latest and moved up 2lb.

He took third place at Kempton on his latest run. That was a very good effort from him three weeks ago with the cheekpieces on for the first time.

The recent form of Colonel Faulkener just puts him at the head of our picks.

After a couple of good juvenile efforts, SIR EDWARD ELGAR looks like a threat. He picked up a maiden win on his reappearance 166 days ago.

That was over course and distance and could offer something on his handicap debut.

We would also consider BROXI who looks to be on more than a fair mark. He’s a big quote but place claims aren’t there as he comes up significantly on trips.

There are a few with decent claims in this one including CLASSY DAME at 6/1* (betting odds recorded 18:16 GMT on July 11th 2021 at William Hill).

She made it three wins in her last five runs with a victory at Leicester 41 days ago. She kept on very well in that contest.

Classy Dame is also a course and distance winner and could be chanced to build on that recent run, even though more will be needed here.

LIVIA THE EMPRESS is another to watch after getting a score 9 days ago at Beverley. She is moved up 5lb for that effort but has enough to get in the frame.

The other obvious threat as a horse racing tip is ORIENTAL ART who is a lightly raced maiden.

She was in midfield 11 days ago in a Newbury handicap, the race never playing out in her favour. There should be more on offer from her, however.

STATUARIO is worth a punt here at 3/1 as a horse racing tip* (betting odds recorded 18:16 GMT on July 11th 2021 at William Hill).

For the large part of the season, he has been in good form, including just being denied a win by a nose in one of his efforts.

He has been at 2m in chases at Warwick and Southwell this season, those runs happening in May in which he got close.

Statuario was not quite as sharp on his last effort, which was two weeks ago at Uttoxeter. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see him bounce back.

ELIOS D’OR rates a threat for the run as well. It’s been a very progressive season for the 7-year-old.

Some consistent form saw him push forward and win at Worcester three weeks ago to get off the mark over the hurdles. There is a big 9lb rise from him in the ratings, however.

The other who could feature is ADMIRAL’S SUNSET who won over the hurdles back in 2018.

He’s not the most consistent over the fences but there have been some decent runs. One of those was two weeks ago with a place finish at Stratford.

With a 7lb claimer on his back, he has to have a big chance after an eye-catching run last time out.
