He has been in fine form lately and was last in action collecting a runners up spot at Kelso three weeks ago. That followed a win at Newcastle in December.

There has been a 4lb rise for Scoop The Pot since his last effort, but he has been there or thereabouts in each of his last three runs now, so should be in the picture.

ASKING FOR ANSWERS is going to be our 9/2 selection for this contest* (betting odds recorded 20:14 GMT on Sunday, 17th January 2021 at William Hill).

He is sitting on a hat-trick and produced a fantastic score at Hexham 40 days ago.

He got on the game late in that one to get the win and the further trip here will suit him on a 7lb rise.

BUDDHA SCHEME has finished in the place on each of his runs this season, so he is likely going to be back in the frame.

He keeps the tongue tie and visor on for this one.

Buddha Scheme was last seen in action just over a month ago when he went for the line just a little too early. He’s not looked far away from a score.

He collected a win on his last effort which was here at Ayr 49 days ago.

Back in March last year Darius Des Sources collected a win over the hurdles, then on his reappearance for this season put in a solid chasing debut.

Then came that win so the first Irish pointer winner is heading in the right direction.

SKIPPING ON should pose a big threat in this field after scoring at Warick last time out.

That was just a very solid effort from him 18 days ago and that just took already good form this season to a new level.

Skipping On looks to be on a great mark at the moment and could be the value selection at 4/1* (betting odds recorded 20:14 GMT on Sunday, 17th January 2021 at William Hill).

MANETTI has returned to action, picking up a third-place finish on his reappearance after 9 months away.

Just having that under his belt, which was a trip over the hurdles, means that he should be in better shape for this one.

Manetti should just be better in this sphere overall.

It has been back to back fourth-place finishes from her this season. The last run that Charm Offensive had was in a Hexham novice in December. That was on her hurdles bow.

Charm Offensive comes into handicapping for the first time and does appear to be facing a pretty tough challenge here. She did perform well in a bumper here last season on her debut.

ON WE GO now this fixture last year and can’t be written out of things on another go at it.

She gets the cheek pieces on again and while she hasn’t quite looked herself on two trips this season, there is some appeal.

On We Go is 2lb lighter than when she scored in this one last year.

With a 7lb claimer to boot, she may be worth consideration at 6/1* (betting odds recorded 20:14 GMT on Sunday, 17th January 2021 at William Hill).

HOT GOSSIP hs to be the pick however at 5/1* (betting odds recorded 20:14 GMT on Sunday, 17th January 2021 at William Hill).

She has just burst into form having just completed a double.

She scored at Sedgefield in November to kick this off and then scored there a week later. Hot Gossip gets a 6lb rise but is well worth watching.

There has been some very nice consistent form from him this season having been in the places in each of his three runs.

Last February, Made For You got off the mark with a score in a Musselburgh Handicap.

On his reappearance, he went close at Kilos and while he hasn’t quite been back at his very sharpest, he still doesn’t look as if he is done improving yet.

Made For You should enter calculations being 1lb down after his recent 3rd at Fakenham.

There was a better promise shown by CAIRNSHILL on his latest run. After two failures to complete, he took a fourth in a field of 13 at Catterick last time out.

That was on a handicap hurdle a couple of weeks ago. After a long fall in the weights, he could now be sitting on a mark where he is ready to pounce if he can build on that last effort.

The other name for the shortlist in this effort is J’AI FROID who gets the visor on for the first time.

He returned after a long absence following not having run last season, to claim a fourth-place finish at Haydock.

That was 47 days ago and he could be that much fitter for it. He is 2lb down from when he scored at Exeter in the Spring last year.

She was in action only 6 days ago when she played her way into contention at Lingfield on a 10f trip.

She didn’t have enough to close out in that one. But coming back down in trip, she has to feature strongly.

Livia The Empress has placed over course and distance before as well. She looks to be the one to beat.

SPIRIT OF ROWNTOWN is another of the obvious selections for the shortlist in this one as he is a dual C&D winner.

Just eleven days ago he was at course and distance and scored a good third-place finish in that one. He should feature strongly on another return.

We will add NURSE DEE to the shortlist as she was narrowly beaten only on her latest run. That was in a Lingfield handicap a couple of weeks ago.

Nurse Dee gets a 5lb claimer as she looks for another opportunity to get off the mark. She has been close enough a few times to warrant consideration.

He claimed a second place finish on his latest run, which was 17 days ago in a Southwell handicap. It was two runs that Teston had last year and he won one of those.

This is big move back up in trip for him but he looks as if he has enough in hand to stay competitive

UK Racing Odds & Tips

The horse racing betting tip has to be the progressive POWER OF STATES though at 3/1* (betting odds recorded 20:14 GMT on Sunday, 17th January 2021 at William Hill).

He scored three times last year and on his last run, which was 39 days ago at Chelmsford City, he put in a very credible third place finish. Power Of States never had a great position in that one.

This will be the first time on the tapeta for him and he looks a great fit as long as the gallop is nice and solid in the race.

ATHMAN is worth a look as well in this one after a recent score over course and distance.

That was a fortnight ago after getting himself into a great position in the fixture.

Last year Athamn took three wins from 14 efforts and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him back in the frame.
