On his latest run, he completed a hattrick a month ago with a score of course and distance. That puts the 6-year-old firmly in the frame.

BALLON ONABUDGET comes up 3lb which looks well within his scope.

He easily won a handicap at Uttoxeter last month on a shorter trip. This will demand a little more, but he is a threat.

TEL’ART would be the other to consider. He is on a fair enough mark and ended a long winless streak with a score at course and distance on his latest.

The 6/5 favourite CAPTAIN COBAJAY is hard to pass up as a horse racing tip in this contest* (betting odds recorded 18:32 GMT on August 22nd August 2021 at William Hill).

He benefited from a reduced mark last time out. That was on a first run for a new yard and he got the victory at Market Rasen.

It was a comfortable win, delivered by more than four lengths.

There has been a 5lb rise for him following that success, but he looks the obvious pick.

At top-weight, COSTLY DIAMOND is going to have a lot on her plate.

She couldn’t get close to Captain Cobajay at Market Rasen 9 days ago, settling for third.

Given the weights in play here, we don’t see her having enough to turn the tables on that rival, but looks to be a lock for a place again.

The other to consider for the places is STEELES TERRACE who was fourth of six at Stratford on his debut for a new yard last time out.

He should strip fitter for that, but is likely to have to settle for a minor place.

This is a wide-open contest with plenty of claims coming in.

We are pulling towards 11/2 shot LAND OF WINTER* (betting odds recorded 18:32 GMT on August 22nd August 2021 at William Hill).

He was third on his reappearance in a Beverley handicap 41 days ago.

He wasn’t in top form there but is likely to be a lot sharper for it. The cheekpieces go on for the first time which should help as well.

GHADBBAAN looks like another key contender after a good second place in a handicap at York a month ago. That was to Dance To Paris who has been declared a non-runner.

There has been a 2lb rise for Ghadbbaan on the back of that and has now gone close in her last two.

The final shortlist selection is EAGLE COURT who was fourth in that same race.

But that was an encouraging run and sitting on the pace, he should have a big say in this.

He was third after hitting some trouble at the course and distance 9 days ago. That was still a credible performance from him.

There was enough encouragement to expect Safran to get firmly in the thick of things here.

He’s gone well now at York and Thirsk in defeat and shouldn’t be far away.

MARS LANDING should be about there. But misses from short odds in his last two will just start to make punters a little hesitant.

It does look as if Sir Michael Stoute’s gelding has more in him, it’s whether or not it will come out.

The unexposed MALHOOB is the other obvious selection for the shortlists in horse racing betting.

He scored at Thirsk on his penultimate run but struggled at Newcastle on his follow up. Malhoob returns after a break of 90 days with some interest.

RAQISA came on superbly to score at Thirsk in a 4-runner handicap 17 days ago.

Excellent progress was made from her and there is more to come for sure. Raqisa comes up 3lb for Monday.

He steps up in trip for this contest, but more is demanded of him for this contest as he comes up 4lb in the ratings.
