FAKIR D’OUDAIRIES should be a strong contender in this one.

He was runner up at last year’s Arkle and will be heading straight back to the Cheltenham Festival after this one.

He won the Melling Chase at Aintree the last term as well.

Fakir D’Oudairies has taken a victory at Grade 2 this season.

On his latest effort, he was beaten by Allaho at Thurles, the one who had gotten the better of him in last year’s Arkle.

Fakir D’oudairies like the softer ground so this is ideal for him and is just so consistent over this sort of distance.

SAINT CALVADOS was third at the King George in December at Kempton won what was his first run for Paul Nicholls.

Saint Calvados is a very good chaser, but things haven’t quite gone his way often enough to rack up the wins.

But he should be considered for this one because this looks a better fit for him than the Kempton effort was.

DASHEL DRASHER won last year’s Betfair Chase and could have a say in the run of things.

He is such a tough cookie and that victory in last year’s Betfair Chase was his third success at course and distance.

Dashel Drasher was only narrowly touched off at Lingfield a month ago by Two For Gold who also lines up in this.

There is a chance that Dashel Drasher will thrive once again as he turns at Ascot.

Tip: DASHEL DRASHER 13/2

Ones to watch: Fakir D’oudairies 9/4, Saint Calvados 7/2

DOYEN BREED has really been powering along in this sphere and arrives at Ascot in the form of his life.

He won his case debut at Hexham in November and then has followed up with back to back runner-up finishes since.

Doyen Breed went very well in a Warwick Grade 2 last month and should be right in the frame for this chase.

DOES HE KNOW kicked off his chasing career very well with back to back wins.

He was a progressive hurdler last term and is pushing on over the fences.

On his latest run Does He Know was beaten only by the in-form Threeunderthrufive at Cheltenham, and that rival has gone on to win once again since.

CORACH RAMBLER missed out on completing a hat-trick last time out, but he found the going too much in a valuable Warwick handicap on his latest run.

Those two wins this season for him over the fences came at Aintree and Cheltenham.

Coming down in distance after Warwick should put him firmly in the picture.

Tip: DOYEN BREED 11/2

Ones to watch: Does He Know 10/3, Corach Rambler 7/2

FIDDLERONTHEROOF is probably going to make his presence felt at Ascot on Saturday.

At last year’s Festival, he was a runner up in a Grade 1 fixture.

He opened this season in fine style by collecting a Listed chase win at Carlisle.

Fiddlerontheroof was then sent to the Ladbrokes Trophy in which he was runner up after a superb effort.

He’s the top weight for Saturday, but good enough to defy it.

FORTESCUE is another to watch for the shortlist in this one as he was a very good third-place finish in the Peter Marsh on his latest run.

There is 3m form there for Fortescue, who won a couple at Sandown and Perth at the end of the previous campaign.

He’s been running well this season and can’t be counted out.

ASK ME EARLY also warrants some respect here as he looks to have a high ceiling.

He has continued progress in what is his second season of chasing.

Ask Me Early went well over the fences the last term to win all three starts. Since returning this season he has won a couple of novice hurdles events.

He should be a threat if he goes.

Tip: FIDDLERONTHEROOF 3/1

Ones to watch: Fortescue 12/1, Ask Me Early 4/1

MOLLY OLLY’S WISHES is likely to show well in this one as the mare has continued with some fine form this season.

It has been two wins in three for her. The latest of those victories was a Grade 2 mares’ run at Ascot in January.

THOMAS DARBY was fourth in the Long Walk at Ascot on his latest run, back in December.

This is not going to be the main target for the season for him, but with a win in the Long Distance Hurdle in November, he has every chance to make a strong impression on Saturday.

THIRD WIND looks to be the best of the rest after a credible third at Warwick in January on his latest appearance.

That saw a nice return to form because he has been sent out in Grade 1 company a couple of times before that and has found the going tough.

Third Wind won this race last year.

Tip: MOLLY OLLY’S WISHES 2/1

Ones to watch: Thomas Darby 11/4, Third Wind 4/1

SAM BROWN has gone well in a couple of efforts this season and the lightly raced 10-year-old was a runner up in the Peter Marsh at this same venue a month ago.

He battled well and did a pretty solid job.

Sam Brown comes up 2lb from that and looks to have enough about him to get in the thick of it.

BRISTOL DE MAI makes a rare appearance in a handicap in this one. But he warrants some respect.

There was a third-place finish from him on his latest, who does have winning form at Haydock.

Bristol De Mai was last seen at Lingfield last month in a competitive race, taking a third-place finish.

BLAKLION looks set to produce another strong run. There have been back to back wins for him recently.

The latest of those was at the course and distance and Blaklion got that score in such a dominant fashion. He looks to be in top nick.

SECRET REPRIEVE is on a workable market and not to be dismissed in this one.

He won the Wealth National at Chepstow and despite being a little below par on his reappearance, can get in this.

Tip: SAM BROWN 6/1

Ones to watch: Bristol De Mai 11/2, Blaklion 6/1

HIGH STAKES could have a chance in this one as he has been getting better and better over the fences.

The most recent of those efforts saw him take a second-place finish in a Lingfield novice last time out. He has a chance.

HILLCREST completed a hattrick earlier this season over the hurdles, with a score at Cheltenham in a novice contest.

On his return to that venue for his latest, he did not get a chance to complete as he was hampered and lost his rider three weeks ago.

GREEN BOOK is a likeable lone one and has continued his progress since moving to the hurdles.

There was a third win for him in the sphere when he collected a 3m Sandown success a couple of weeks ago.

There could be plenty more to come from him still and Green Book has won at Haydock before.

Tip: GREEN BOOK 11/4

Ones to watch: Hillcrest 6/5, High Stakes 8/1

GOSHEN is a strong favourite for the Kingwell Hurdle on Saturday at Wincanton.

He won it 12 months ago with style and given that he arrives back at Wincanton in winning form after a victory at Sandown two weeks ago (by 15 lengths), he looks to be the way to tgo.

ADAGIO is super consistent and was second in a Cheltenham Handicap in November on his reappearance.

So he does have a little break to defy, but that Greatwood Hurdle effort was a very good one from him.

FAIVOIR may struggle to find quite enough in this contest, but he has been going well in some chase efforts this season, taking a couple of wins.

It’s a move back to the hurdles for him now with the cheekepieces on.

Tip: GOSHEN 4/5

Ones to watch: Adagio 11/8, Faivoir 16/1
