Today’s horse racing tips look at some of the top action that is coming up from Ascot and Haydock on Saturday.

That includes the Clarence House Chase from Ascot which sees a mighty showdown between top 2m chasers Shiskin and Energumene.

Another of the day’s racing betting highlights is the Peter Marsh handicap chase from Haydock.

We have six of the best horse racing tips for Saturday, 22nd January 2022.

All times listed are GMT.

SHISKIN puts his unbeaten record over the fences on the line in his biggest challenge yet.

Nicky Henderson’s brilliant hurdler, a dual Cheltenham winner made all in a recent reappearance.

He showed up at Kempton in December and strolled to a facile victory in a Grade 2 contest, taking out the Tingle Creek winner in that one.

Shiskin has firmly confirmed his place as one of the top 2m chasers in the business and should be right back there.

ENERGUMENE is equally as exciting and is just 1lb behind Shiskin in the official ratings, which says a lot about him.

Willie Mullins’ charge is also unbeaten over the fences and picked up an impressive Grade 2 at Cork last month.

It was a brilliant show of jumping from Energumene in that one.

He is clearly the other big player in this contest, but can he find enough to stop Shishkin?

There’s a likely chance that we will see these two square off in the Champion Chase at this year’s Cheltenham Festival.

FIRST FLOW won last year’s Clarence House by a comfortable seven lengths.

He returned to action in winning form, cruising to a victory in the Peterborough Chase at Huntingdon 48 days ago.

First Flow is a smart chaser but is going to be up against it in this one against those other two phenomenal rivals.

Tip: SHISKIN 4/6

Ones to watch: Energumene 13/8, First Flow 12/1

ROYALE PAGAILLE should show strongly in this Grade 2 contest on the weekend.

He was highly progressive last season, rattling off a hattrick. There was also a very positive return for him.

Royale Pagaille took second with an excellent run in the Betfair Chase here at Haydock a couple of months ago.

The conditions will be right in his wheelhouse on Saturday and therefore he is a big, big player.

EMPIRE STEEL looks as if he has more to come in this sphere as he looks to push on from a couple of novice chase wins last season.

This season he opened with a solid second-place finish over course and distance on his reappearance.

Empire Steel probably would have won or have gotten very close to scoring at Wetherby on his follow up, but was a faller through no fault of his own.

REMASTERED is the final selection for Peter Marsh handicap betting on Saturday.

He has gone well in all runs this season including a second-place at the course and distance 35 days ago.

Before that Remastered was going very well in the Ladbrokes Trophy at Newbury before falling. He’s respected.

Tip: ROYALE PAGAILLE 9/4

Ones to watch: Empire Steel 9/2, Remastered 4/1

TOMMY’S OSCAR is highly respected for this contest as he seeks a four-timer.

He completed the hattrick with a score at Musselburgh three weeks ago and has just been getting better and better with each run.

He barely puts a foot wrong and with the consistency that he has, Tommy’s Oscar should be right there.

HUNTER’S CALL looks like being the biggest threat to the favourite in this contest.

The 12-year-old veteran has still shown plenty of ability this season, opening the campaign with a score in a Bangor handicap.

A follow up third in Cheltenham Grade 2 could mean that he will be in the picture again.

GARO DE JUILLEY is the final one on the shortlist in this contest. He needs a bit of a revival.

He was well below his best at Auteuil on his latest run but now returns after a break of three months since then, which may help. It’s place claims at best.

Tip: Tommy’s Oscar 4/6

Ones to watch: Hunters Call 9/4, Garo De Juilley 50/1 e/w

STELLAR MAGIC should have plenty of form in taking second place in a Haydock handicap on his return.

There were a couple of scores in the novice sphere for Stellar Magic last season. He could be back on the up now with that positive reappearance done.

UNEXPECTED PARTY is worth a look as well after going well in each of his last three efforts.

He tore the handicapping apart on his debut/reappearance in October at Wetherby. He’s followed up since with back to back runners-up finishes.

Unexpected Party has risen in the weights obviously, but he still looks to be on a fair mark so should be in this.

GARRY CLERMONT has claimed up in trip, which could offer him the chance of some nice process.

He opened the season with a win and produced a good third here at Ascot in December on his latest run.

Tip: STELLAR MAGIC 9/2

Ones to watch: Unexpected Party 4/1, Garry Clermont 7/2

WESTERN VICTORY has won three of her last five runs and needs to be respected in this contest.

This will be her first run for Emma Lavelle after costing a pretty penny.

There was stamina proven by her last time out as she scored at this distance at Clonmel 51 days ago.

MY SISTER SARAH landed the odds at Kempton in November in a Listed contest.

So she goes on the shortlist because she backed that up with a credible third in a Grade 3 at Leopardstown last time out.

MOLLY OLLYS WISHES should make her presence felt in this one as well. She had a brilliant time last season.

Molly Ollys Wishes picked up where she left off with a 2m Mares’ Listed win at Wetherby on her reappearance.

A credible fifth against the opposite sex here at Ascot last time out gives her claims.

Tip: WESTERN VICTORY 5/2

Ones to watch: Molly Ollys Wishes 2/1, My Sister Sarah 11/4

PALMERS HILL has strong claims in this one as he looks to complete a hattrick.

He has taken on a rise of 8lb so that will be a bigger challenge facing him at Ascot on Saturday.

But Palmers Hill was so decisive in scoring at the Old Roan on his latest effort, that the rise could be defied.

FANION D’ESTRUVAL is another that comes up 8lb but may not be slowed up by that.

He claimed a fourth-place finish on his reappearance this season in the Old Roan.

But then improved to score impressively at Newbury on his follow up.

Fanion D’Estruval returns from a break of a couple of months and should be heavily involved.

KILLER CLOWN brings winning form to the table as well after picking up a score at Wincanton easily on his latest.

That was a current run two weeks ago. So he seems to be back at top form after such a good progressive season over the fences the last term.

Killer Clown gets a 7lb rise which looks fair enough and there should be plenty more to come from him.

Tip: KILLER CLOWN 6/1

Ones to watch: Palmers Hill 3/1, Fanion D’Estruval 4/1
