There is the Derby Trial Stakes as one of the existing fixtures from the former.

While at Haydock the top race of the day is the Swinton Handicap Hurdle which features a fantastic field.

WEST CORK is probably going to be in contention in the Swinton Handicap Hurdle at Haydock on the weekend.

He is a good one and West Cork was last seen taking a runner up spot in the Scottish Champion Hurdle at Ayr last month.

That followed a place finish in the Country Hurdle as well and this is well within his range, although he does need to reverse form against Anna Bunina.

ANNA BUNINA is such a likeable one and she will relish the competitive nature of Sunday’s race.

She battled her way to the Scottish Champion Hurdle title last month and came up 5lb for that win.

But a smart claimer takes care of that and she can sit there and wait to strike close to home. Anna Bunina is a massive threat in this one.

MILKWOOD will likely be sharper for a run at the Scottish Champion Hurdle just over a month ago as he sought a title defence.

He was fifth in the contest at Ayr, for all the world looking as if he had needed a reappearance run under his belt before that. Milkwood has claims.

LUTTRELL LAD is another with solid claims in this one and looks to snap a run of three straight runner-up spots.

He was at Chepstow in a novice effort three weeks ago and got a little bullied by rivals and couldn’t handle the pressure.

But he has potential and is definitely worth a look at handicapping.

SEBASTOPOL is interesting because he has been thriving in chasing this spring. It’s two wins in his last three.

Granted there have been a couple of tumbles for him, but he is at a lower mark on the switch to the smaller stuff and needs to be respected.

Tip: ANNA BUNINA

Ones to watch: Sebastopol 8/1, Luttrell Lad 8/1

ALDAARY is expected to make the running in his one as he returns from a break in search of a hattrick.

2021 saw him finish the year in style, landing back to back wins. The most recent of those was at Ascot in October.

Aldaary turned out a stunning, eye-catching run in the Balmoral Handicap and clearly sets the standard in this one.

ROYAL COMMANDO can get in this because he has some previous form when running refresh.

He returns for the first time this year and scored a nice 6f trip at Doncaster to open last season with.

Royal Commando isn’t proven at 7f but does enough to make his presence felt.

SAFE VOYAGE is the final one of the short slits in this one after having had a reappearance run in the Lincoln.

It was only a bare result for him there, but there were signs of encouragement.

Safe Voyage is a former course and distance winner, landing the 2019 renewal of this and then taking the runner up spot the following year in it.

Tip: ALDAARY 4/7

Ones to watch: Royal Commando 10/1, Safe Voyage 7/1

WALK OF STARS could write the headlines in the Derby Trial Stakes as he looks like being a big player.

He scored at Newbury in a 3-runner field to open the season successfully.

Walk Of Stars looks a bit green around the edges still.

But a follow in this, which would complete a hattrick, would send him to the Derby as one of the main contenders.

NATURAL WORLD piques some interest in this one as well and he is a stablemate of Walk Of Stars.

Natural World won his debut three weeks ago in a Newbury maiden, showing some pleasing form.

There’s plenty more to come from him too.

UNITED NATIONS is the formal one for the shorts from this small field as he should be sharper for having had a reappearance.

That was at Epsom three weeks ago and he wasn’t ever in a great position.

The further trip here will likely help his cause.

Tip: UNITED NATIONS 4/1

Ones to watch: Walk Of Stars 10/11, Natural World 11/2

MYSTIC WELLS has been an improver this season and brings winning form to the table on Saturday.

She picked up a success at Windsor, digging deep and showing a very good attitude to pick up the score.

Mystic Wells posted some good times on the clock and the former juvenile winner has some claims in this one.

EMILY DICKINSON landed a fantastic win at Naas last month to get off the mark at the third time of asking.

Further progress is surely there, and she showed signs of greenness even during that win.

Emily Dickinon looks like an eye-catching one.

BELT BUCKLE is well-bred and can easily make a big impact in the Oaks Trial on the weekend.

She won her debut at Wolverhampton in February and has been refreshed since then.

Belt Buckle kept on well to get that score and she looks like she’ll be comfortable handling the step up in the trip.

Tip: MYSTIC WELLS 8/1

Ones to watch: Belt Buckle 9/2, Emily Dickinson 11/8

WREN’S BREATH scored in a listed contest on her second appearance last year, pushing on from a promising debut.

She ended last season with a lowly finish when moved up to Group 3 in September.

That experience could serve her well and Wren’s Breath warrants some respect.

SHE DO scored a Listed victory at Newmarket in October last year and should thrive on this longer trip.

She stepped on the gas to close that 6f trip so the extra furlong on Saturday she should be able to handle just fine.

Despite having been away for seven months, but she will likely be involved.

CHOCOYA is another one that is returning for a reappearance run with some leading claims in this one.

She won two of her final three races last season.

The final one was a fourth-place finish behind winner She Do at Newmarket in a Listed fixture. If Chocoya is dialled in, then claims are there.

Tip: WREN’S BREATH 6/1

Ones to watch: She Do 11/4, Chocoya 7/2

THIRD REALM brings some claims to the table as he lowers his signs for Saturday’s run at Ascot.

He won the Lingfield Derby Trial last year, getting the better of Adayar who claimed the Derby and the King George.

Third Realm closed out the season in good form, albeit in defeat and as he is down in class, he has a big shout.

AL AASY improved in the early stages of 2021 picking up a couple of Group 3 victories.

Unfortunately for him the follow up across the rest of the season wasn’t there.

He ended the previous camping with a really poor effort in the Group 1 Champion Stakes. Al Aaasy is refreshed and could have claims on a reappearance.

MANDOOB s the last one that we look at because he produced some encouraging form last spring.

He doubled his tally when shrugging off a penalty at Haydock before going even better to take a runner up spot in the Group 3 Bahrain Trophy.

Mandoob has had a wind op during his break and carries claims.

Tip: THIRD REALM 3/1

Ones to watch: Al Aasy 13/8, Mandoob 11/1
