Today’s horse racing tips take a look at some of the exciting races from Boxing Day’s action, which is a huge day on the racing calendar.

The top action comes from Kempton where there is the Kauto Star Novices Chase, Christmas Hurdle and King Geroge VI Chase.

The race favourite for this trip is JOHNBB at 9/4* (betting odds recorded 22:29 GMT on Thursday, 24th December 2020 at William Hill).

He posted a win on his reappearance run, scoring 7/1 in a course and distance chase.

That sets him up well for this one. It was a very comfortable win at the end of the day by more than four lengths.

Following that impressive run, he has to go into the fixture as our selection for the win, although there is one big challenger behind him.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

TIME TO GET UP looks a threat in his field as he really caught the eye on his reappearance. That was at Aintree last month at 2m 4f when he scored an excellent third-place finish.

That was the chase debut for time To Get Up in a strong field. We expect more to come.

Returning to action on the back of a win is MERCIAN PRINCE. He got that victory by a whopping 1 length at Kempton last month.

That was a slightly shorter trip, but the extra furlong here is not likely to bother him. That was the second win for Merican Prince this season having scored at Bangor-on-Dee as well.

Heading up the market for this one is NEARLY PERFECT at 2/1* (betting odds recorded 22:29 GMT on Thursday, 24th December 2020 at William Hill). He finely opened the season, delivering the odds at Wetherby over a 3m trip.

That was earlier this month and it was a win taken by 5 lengths. He is a previous course and distance winner and if he’s anywhere near the same form again, then he is going to be tough to knock over. He is definitely worth keeping on side.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

Another for the good players in this one is SMUGGLER’S BLUES who has ranked back to back second-place finishes in his current form.

The most recent of those was at Plumpton on a 3m 2f trip earlier this month. He was only edged out by a neck in that one and another bold effort is expected.

But it is NORMANDY SOLDIER who gets the nod from us at 17/2* (betting odds recorded 22:29 GMT on Thursday, 24th December 2020 at William Hill).

He travelled well to take a fourth-place finish at Taunton on his latest rum. That was a 2m 7f trip last month and his chase debut. He stayed on really well and enters at 2lb lower.

Race Favourite

Heading up this big Grade 3 effort is the exiting SNOW LEOPARDESS at 9/2* (betting odds recorded 22:29 GMT on Thursday, 24th December 2020 at William Hill). She has been in increasingly good form in the chasing sphere.

That culminated in a win last time out when she recorded a win over a 3m 2f trip at Haydock.

She has every chance of getting into the frame here and earlier this season she was second at course and distance to Shan Blue.

Snow Leopardess has a big chance of proving her record in chasing even further.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

Another of the big players in this very competitive lineup is CANELO at 5/1* (betting odds recorded 22:29 GMT on Thursday, 24th December 2020 at William Hill). He is the one that makes it our selection in horse racing tips.

Like Snow Leopardess he has been rapidly improving in chasing as well.

He scored on his penultimate run at Aintree and then took his form even further in claiming second place in a strong Newbury event. Further Improvement is expected and we think that the seven-year-old brings huge claims.

Rounding off the selections for the shortlist is WANDRIN STAR. He looks in top shape as well after opening the season with a victory at Wincanton in October.

He continued his hot form with a strong staying effort to get second place at Ascot after pulling clear of the rest of the pack.

Race Favourite

The race favourite for Boxing Day’s big fixture is CLAN DES OBEAUX at 2/1* (betting odds recorded 22:29 GMT on Thursday, 24th December 2020 at William Hill). He has won the last two editions of this race.

He will be the one to beat again as long he turns up in the top form. But on his reappearance run, he really had to dig through the heavy ground to get second place at the Grade 1 Betfair Chase on a longer trip than this.

He found only Bristol De Mai too good for him on that day. There’s no questioning his pedigree and fit for this race. But that was a really tough effort that took a lot of energy from him last month though.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

CRYNAME, the stablemate of Clan Des Obeaux, is expected to produce a big bold effort in his one.

He opened the season in cracking form, taking an easy win in the Grade 2 Charlie Hall Chase at Wetherby at 3m in October.

That answered a lot of questions about his stamina and now we think that he pushes on and lower his stablemate’s flag in this one. Cyrname is our 5/2 selection* (betting odds recorded 22:29 GMT on Thursday, 24th December 2020 at William Hill).

He hasn’t run since a superb third in last December’s Tingle Creek. He’s been very good coming back refreshed before and can make a play for the places.

The current favourite for this Wincanton Chase is MIDNIGHT MIDGE at 9/2* (betting odds recorded 22:29 GMT on Thursday, 24th December 2020 at William Hill). He posted a second-place finish on his last outing in a chase.

That was at Newton Abbot on a 2m 5f trip back in September. That was the third run of the season for Midnight Midge.

We don’t think that he’s that strong of a favourite, even for being a previous course and distance winner, not to oppose.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

KEEP MOVING is the one that we are going to oppose the favourite with at a quote of 11/2* (betting odds recorded 22:29 GMT on Thursday, 24th December 2020 at William Hill).

He collected a win on his last run, but was nowhere near the winner in an Exeter chase at 2m 1f last month. We think the step up in trip is really going to pull him into the picture.

The other name for the shortlist is going to be ANOTHER EMOTION. He was last seen in action on his reappearance run, taking a fight place finish at Bangor in November. He was well beaten there and he will be looking for a more settled run with a sizable chunk of distance trimmed.

We finish Boxing Day’s racing preview with a look at this sprint from Wolverhampton. ON THE WARPATH is the 11/10 favourite for it* (betting odds recorded 22:29 GMT on Thursday, 24th December 2020 at William Hill). His last outing was at Linfield on this trip last month.

He was third of 12 in that effort which was in Listed company. On The Warpath had shaped up pretty well in that contest, which was his reappearance after 140 days away from the action. He should be a contender in this Boxing Day run.

Another of the key players is likely to be BOOSALA as he puts in an appearance for the first time this season. He won both previous racetrack appearances for William Haggas, at 6f and 7f. There has been a long absence since July last year, but there’s every chance he will come back hot.

The other that gets on to the shortlist is FIZZY FEET. She is usually a pretty keen contender. After a small dip in form, she was back on form last time out, which was at course and distance.
