OUT THE HAT looks the one to beat in this contest at 9/4* (betting odds recorded 21:16 GMT on July 17th 2021 at William Hill).

The proven form is there as he is sitting on a hattrick chance at the moment. The two wins in that sequence were at this distance at Hamilton and Haydock.

The handicapper has been after him with another 5lb rise. But Out The Hat is thriving at the moment and looks bang in form and tough to beat.

As for the shortlist place contenders we start with ZARYZYNI who looks to be well treated enough to have a say at a money spot in this one.

But looking like the biggest threat to the favourite is LADY NECTAR. She was down the field at York last time out, conditions not suiting her there.

But other than that she has been in good form and rates as a danger.

This will be the handicap debut for him and it follows a third place in a Beverley maiden a couple of weeks ago.

He never found himself in a great position, but there looks a good chance that further progress is going to come.

HEAR ME ROAR rates as an obvious danger here. He collected a course and distance win on his reappearance a month ago.

We are pulling for VOCALISER in this one at 9/2* (betting odds recorded 21:16 GMT on July 17th 2021 at William Hill).

He had a good time of things before his break, claiming three wins for the season. There was a big return to form for him last time out.

At Newton Abbot 26 days ago he took second place, but that should have been a comfortable win but he made a mistake over the last jump. There’s only been a 1lb rise for him and he can’t be ignored.

DEMON D’AUNOU is another that looks as if he could take a big step forward here and push for a win.

There was a seventh-place finish from him at Newton Abbot last time out, helped out by a claimer. That should have sharpened him up well and he looks primed for a big run.

JIMMY THE DIGGER is another that warrants plenty of respect as he moves to chasing. He delivered a win over the hurdles a month ago, getting off the mark in the sphere.

He has to be respected to potentially do the same over the bigger stuff.

This is a very interesting handicap chase and while it is a small field only most of them have serious claims.

The market favourite HATCHER won comfortably last time out, completing a double for David Skelton.

He is a quote of 15/8 as a horse racing tip* (betting odds recorded 21:16 GMT on July 17th 2021 at William Hill).7

That latest win for Hatcher happened at Newton Abbot 37 days ago and it was an impressively strong victory as well. Completion of a hat trick would not be a surprise.

But we do also think that SCARDURA is worth consideration in this small field. He was really on it over course and distance three weeks ago.

Consistency is a little bit of an issue for him, but if he is able to follow up in the same kind of mood as last time, then he should threaten.

SOLAR IMPULSE missed a hattrick chance last time out as he couldn’t complete, but the strong form has been there from him if he turns up ready for a fight.

SCRAPPY JACK delivered a course and distance in over course and distance a couple of weeks ago. He had the better of MONEYPENNY in that one as well.

MONEYPENNY should be right back in the mix of things as he opposes Scrappy Jack. He looked as if he was going to deliver the win on that hurdles debut before fading out.

This is more good chase action for the day and we are with BLAZE A TRAIL at 5/1 as our pick* (betting odds recorded 21:16 GMT on July 17th 2021 at William Hill).

He has landed a couple of career wins in chase action. He looks to be well treated for this contest actually based on his form in Ireland.

Blaze A Trail takes the first run for a new yard on Sunday, his first outing since a third place finish at Limerick in May. The cheekpieces go on and he is a very interesting selection.

SHORTCROSS STORM should have enough to get himself in this one after getting off the mark in this sphere in April. He was in decent shape collecting a win here at Newton Abbot on a shorter trip last month.

REGABY has a chance of getting in the picture as well. He doesn’t look quite as progressive as some of the others. But he got his first start over the fences under his belt, taking a third at Worcester 18 days ago.
