The pick of the day’s racing by a clear mile is the Yorkshire Oaks, a Fillies’ & Mares’ Group 1 contest from the venue.

Along with that, we will be visiting Stratford for a couple of selections as well.

This is the top race of the day and there is the clear favourite of SNOWFALL in it. She dominates the horse racing betting.

Snowfall is one of the stars of racing at the moment and rightly so. She landed the Group 1 Irish Oaks on her last run, bolting up there to get the score.

It’s a shame that her stablemate Love isn’t opposing her in this one.

But given the current form of Snowfall, who has won all three runs this season, including a 16l victory at the Epsom Oaks, it’s hard to oppose her.

At 8/11 in the Without Snowfall market for racing odds, there is WONDERFUL TONIGHT* (betting odds recorded 19:53 GMT on 18th August 2021 at Coral). The quicker ground could ask questions of her.

She completed a four-timer with a success at Goodwood on her latest run. That was at Group 2, as was her success at Royal Ascot this season as well.

On Champions Day last October Wonderful Tonight landed a Group 1 victory, fully confirming her status. But the conditions may not be right for her to topple Snowfall.

The other to keep on the shortlist is ESHAADA. She looks to be the pick of the bunch behind the big two.

She has a lot more to offer and nearly remained undefeated but luck wasn’t on her side at the Ribblesdale on her latest run. This will be the fourth run only for Eshaada.

This is another of the top races from York on Thursday. It’s one of the juveniles and SANDRINE tops the pecking order.

It has been all positives for Sandrine so far, and victory in the Albany at Royal Ascot and the Duchess of Cambridge at Newmarket shows her quality.

She has an extra 3lb to deal with for this contest, as she looks to defend her unbeaten career.

She’s highly rated and there’s no reason that Andrew Balding’s filly won’t be right there.

ILLUSTRATING is well worth a look. The extra furlong may well bring something extra out of her for this one and she is a threat to Sandrine.

There was a second win in three for Illustrating as she looked a class act to score at Goodwood on a 5f trip last month.

The other win this season was at Catterick. There’s more to come from her.

We are looking at OUTSIDE WORLD as a bigger play for the contest.

She has Frankie Dettori booked and she collected a great win over course and distance in a novice a month ago.

Another cracking race from York on Thursday and this is a highly competitive renewal as well of this fixture.

AMMA GRACE landed a listed win at the end of the previous campaign.

After a poor reappearance for this season, she took a good step forward to land a fourth-place finish in a Group 3 12 days ago.

She looked to be staying on well in that one and she should be on the radar.

But it is ABSTINENCE at 5/1 that looks the way to go* (betting odds recorded 19:53 GMT on 18th August 2021 at Coral).

She was third at Newmarket on her latest run, and the winner from that race has since gone on to win at Group 3.

That was her first effort at 12f and she showed a great attitude as well in it.

Abstinence looks to be heading in the right direction and is well worth considering.

DUBAI FOUNTAIN is the final one for the shortlist in this contest.

Her yard really put her through it as a juvenile and that looked to pay off when she won the Cheshire Oaks in May.

Dubai Fountain hasn’t quite been back at that level since, but with William Buick booked and this being calmer waters, she has been afforded a chance to bounce back.

We have a much bigger field to look at next and our pick from the bunch is RISING STAR at 7/1* (betting odds recorded 19:53 GMT on 18th August 2021 at Coral).

She may be the way to go for this wide-open contest and that’s because of a great win at Musselburgh last month.

That saw her get off the mark as a 3-year-old and it was a clear improvement in form from her.

The progressive filly has been slapped with an extra 7lb, but she may not be out of this.

Another that we like the look of is SPIRIT OF BERMUDA who is sitting on a hattrick chance.

The latest of her wins was six weeks ago when she shrugged off a 6lb rise to win at Newmarket.

There has been a further 3lb rise for her, but Spirit Of Bermuda looks to be full of promise.

SWEET ENOUGH is another with good form as she is looking for a hattrick.

She bottled up at Newmarket to get the first of those wins, and then on a move to handicapping delivered at Yarmouth two weeks ago. Sweet Enough warrants big respect.

We move to the jumps for our next horse racing tip of the day. It is LOCK’S CORNER who is that pick at 5/1* (betting odds recorded 19:53 GMT on 18th August 2021 at Coral).

There was a win for him on his reappearance and that took him to four wins in seven over the fences. So the strike rate is there.

He didn’t complete his latest run, which was a longer offer at 3m 2f in June at Uttoxeter.

While that was the second time in his last three that he has pulled, he still warrants respect.

That’s because he is down in class here and the much shorter trip is clearly going to be less taking on him. Lock’s Corner is worth revisiting.

COURTANDBOULD arrives on the back of a win at Uttoxeter. He was only beaten out by a couple of useful ones in that one as well.

That was on a 2m trip. Coming into handicapping in this sphere, Courtandbould carries plenty of interest.

YCCS PORTOCERVO is clearly thriving at the moment. There was a win for him at Uttoxeter in June, his second over the fences.

Then back at that venue, he went very well again to take a runner spot, but a very credible one. He has more to come.

We round things off in calmer waters but there is a strong pick of ULTIMATE GETAWAY at 2/1 that we are looking at* (betting odds recorded 19:53 GMT on 18th August 2021 at Coral).

He has won two of his last three over the hurdles, so is thriving at the moment.

There’s a double penalty for him, but his form recently has been exemplary. Enough to warrant backing him to take things further.

CRYSTAL GAZING looks a good one as well after breaking her maiden at Bangor on her latest run. She goes for Nicky Henderson, which could be a big factor.

VAN MEEGEREN has failed to compile his last two runs. He lost his rider at the first on a move back to hurdling 24 days ago. He has potential if he can put a clear round together.
