He will be looking to secure a double after scoring on his chase debut 53 days ago at Chepstow. He looks to be a big player in this field for David Skelton.

That was an impressive entry into the sphere and Eclair D’ainey looks to have a lot more to bring to the table.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

THE KING OF MAY has produced some steady form this season. He returned after an 18-month break to score in two of three chase efforts last season.

He has gone close a couple of times this season as well and the most recent of those was over course and distance in December.

The King Of May poses a threat and is our 5/1 selection* (betting odds recorded 18:37 GMT on Monday, 11th January 2021 at William Hill).

SAO could have something to offer as he comes back into action. He has come on well since joining Rebecca Menzies, winning a couple of chases at Hexham and Newbury.

He failed to get going on a hattrick chance when he tried the all-weather at Newcastle in a bumper, but a return to form wouldn’t be a surprise.

STAY SMART is the current 11/4 favourite* (betting odds recorded 18:37 GMT on Monday, 11th January 2021 at William Hill).

He took a second-place finish at Wolverhampton at this minimum distance earlier this month. But he has won before at this distance from seven previous attempts.

On his penultimate start he rattled off a victory at Newcastle on a 6f trip and after one go back down at the 5f trip under his belt, Stay Smart should be primed to strike well here.

ONE DAY has some appeal here as she lines up for the first time for her new yard. She was last seen in September when taking third in a Bath nursery.

One Day is with Laura Mongan now and One Day was seen in good heart on her most recent efforts. She could return sharper.

BLACK SPARROW looks a threat in the contest as well as she is a former course and distance winner.

She was 7th on her last effort in a field of 9 but was squeezed out of space and never had a chance despite running well. The drop back to 5f should be no issue whatsoever.

There has been good consistency from him this season and on Sunday he was last in action. That saw Elysian Flame battle to a very good third-place finish at Exeter.

That was over the hurdles where he has been pretty useful and he has been decent on the flat as well. He comes in sharp enough to warrant respect.

SHANNON BRIDGE showed up very well over course and distance in late December.

He claimed a second palace finish there and he gets the blinkers on for the first time to try and sharpen up further. That was his best effort of the season and could build on it.

FRENCH IT PARADOXE picked up a win on his most recent run, which was almost a month ago in a Newbury novice.

Given that the runner up in that fixture has since gone on to score, that franks his form a bit.

The last run that she had was 57 days ago when she took a nice solid third-place finish in a Wolverhampton nursery.

There was a win for Livia The Empress on her penultimate trip at Chelmsford City in November.

SO TRUE was fourth here in a field of 10 in a handicap here seven days ago. That was a run which showed a nice bit of promise.

There is a small bump up in the trip for him here and he looks to be a big threat for the contest.

TICK TOCH warrants some consideration as well for this one as she gets the blinkers on for the first time.

She is still a maiden but she does appear to have some fairly strong place claims in this field. Tick Toch wears the blinkers for the first time.

He arrived in some cracking form having just completed a double at Taunton on his latest run.

Little Red Lion did benefit from a little bit of luck to get that. But now he is lined up for the hat trick and is in good heart at the moment.

But he’s won on his two completed efforts over the fences and with a 5lb claimer Fergus Gillard in the seat, there are good claims from Little Red Lion.

ANOTHER EMOTION was last in action at Wincanton at this same mark. He was tried in the blinkers for that one and he looked to be in very good shape getting a third-place finish.

Another Emotion is sat on a handy mark. He’s not been the most confident over the fences, but place claims are clearly there.

COMMIT OR QUIT was given the headgear last time out and produced a win over course and distance in November.

He followed that up with a trip at Warwick a month ago where he was going very strong before taking a fall.

There was a third-place finish for him last time out, which was 45 days ago at Wolverhampton.

It wasn’t a race that particularly suited him to how it played out. But regardless there was a credible third.

MYTHMAKER was second on his last effort to SPARTAN FIGHTER. But the conditions this time around are going to suit Mythmaker a lot more.

It has been back to back second-place finishes for him and after that recent effort 24 days ago at Wolverhampton, he looks as if he should be back in the picture.

GLASVEGAS is not to be discounted either in this wide-open contest. He claimed a good third-place finish in a field of nine here at Newcastle three weeks ago.

That’s 12 runs without a victory but his form has been steady which suggests that he’s not far away.
