SUBSTANTIAL looked handy in picking up a victory three weeks ago, which was a big step forward in form from him.
He looked full of energy in that win. Substantial has been moved up 6lb since then, but there is plenty there for him to build on.
SCOTTISH SUMMIT has put in a couple of good efforts recently with back to back runner-up spots claimed.
The most recent of those was at Doncaster five days ago. Scottish Summit is worth another look in this kind of mood.
CROWNTHORPE gets on the shortlist as he is a former course and distance winner.
He made his reappearance at Redcar last month and did a decent job of sticking to his task in a race that he was never going to win. Crownthorpe is on a decent mark.

UNE DE LA SENIERE has been struggling over the bigger stuff on her recent runs.
So the move back to the hurdles could give her something to get stuck in.
Une De La Seniere is down 1lb from a win over the timbers at Ludlow in October and a recent wind op, plus a 7lb claimer could all combine for a positive result.
HEURE DE GLOIRE picked up a score on her most recent effort, which was a couple of months ago at Ffos Las.
This is going to demand a lot more as she has moved up 5lb. But she may be able to make her presence felt with a bold run from the front.
ALCHEMYSTIQUE claimed a maiden hurdle victory here at Southwell in the winter, from a huge SP.
There has been decent efforts from her in a couple of handicap runs recently, one of them a third place finish here at course and distance.

BALKOTIC got off the mark over the hurdles at Sedgefield three weeks ago, when ridden positively.
He is now up 4lb for that winning effort, but this is a shorter trip.
Balkotic looks like a keen runner from the front and similar tactics could get him close to a follow-up.
MONEY SPINNER is still a maiden but may not be too far away in this against his elders.
He still looks capable, if a little unfocused still so it’s surprising some headgear hasn’t been tried.
But Money Spinner has done well in a couple of handicaps higher than this, so could be there.
SIMPLY MANI looks the best of the rest, which doesn’t say a lot as he has been away since 2020.
He is still a maiden but was showing signs of improvement in the Autumn of 2020. He carries a 5lb claimer and gets on the shortlist for place claims not win purposes.

WATCHYA claimed a good win at Wolverhampton in April on what was his penultimate run.
He followed that up with a decent run at Ascot three weeks ago too.
Watchya has a good draw in this one and needs to be respected back on the all-weather.
PHINOW did an excellent job of getting his nose in front to claim the score at Wolverhampton three weeks ago.
Not much form can be read from that run, but Phinow appears to be going in the right direction with a good attitude. This will be his handicap debut.
OPEN MIND landed a victory at Chelmsford City in April and did a good job on his follow up as well.
He was second in a handicap run at Wolverhampton two weeks ago, going close.
Open Mind gets an extra 3lb and should be in the mix, even though the draw hasn’t been that kind to him.

SOLDIER ON PARADE landed a course and distance winner in a previous visit to Lingfield.
He has been hurdling on his most recent action and he never really took to it.
So the return to level and at a winning track could see Solider On Parade get in this.
TIN FANDANGO is another course and distance winner in this field, scoring at Lingfield in July last year.
His two follow up efforts after that were credible and therefore he warrants some respect as he comes back fresh with the cheekpieces on.
SMITH has won three previous course and distance runs, the most recent of those coming in January.
He can’t be ruled out of this, especially with the aforementioned duo having question marks over them.

ECOSSAIS warrants some respect after picking up a second-place finish at Kelso last time out.
He was nowhere near the winner but it was a good return.
There is previous winning form over the fences for him. Ecossais has been hard to catch right, but he’s not out of this.
DARANOVA looks excellent when landing what proved to be a facile win here at the venue 10 days ago.
The penalty for that is a 10lb rise in the weight, but he was eye-catching in that run here and he should still be a huge threat.
SAN AGUSTIN started to put things together nicely over the fences last winter.
That form included a winning effort at Leicester.
San Agustin followed up with two third-place finishes on his follow-ups, the most recent at Warwick last month.

BUTLER’S BRIEF was on the up last spring, rattling off a handicap hattrick, which was completed in last year’s renewal of this race.
The form of Butler’s Brief went on the slide after that, however. But there was a more encouraging effort with a third at Uttoxeter 10 days ago.
LELANTONS is seeking a hattrick as he makes his return for the first time since December.
Those victories were at Southwell and Fakenham with a little luck going his way on the latter. Lelantos is from a top yard and expected to be there.
BLAKENEY POINT is not the easiest to catch in the right mood, but he is a threat if he has his positive head on.
Connections have turned to the visor for the first time and he is moved to an interesting new trip as his yard tries to shake him up.
