The race favourite for this opening fixture of our racing preview is HEYHO LET’S GO at 2/1* (betting odds recorded 21:32 GMT at Ladbrokes on January 4th 20201).

After a win here in September, he looks as if he could be the one to beat.

It has been back to back second-place finishes for Hey Ho Let’s Go in recent form.

The latest run that he had was at course and distance just five days ago. He didn’t get his pacing right after going too quickly at the start.

But regardless, there are big claims.

OUR OYSTERCATCHER is likely to be a big player in this one as well. A wind operation has really seen him come on much stronger.

His latest run was 47 days ago when he was third in a field of 10 at Chelmsford City on a 5f trip.

Our Oystercatcher comes down 1lb from that.

SWISS PRIDE is the final selection. He is a former course and distance winner.

His last run was just over three weeks ago when he was 8th of 10 at Wolverhampton.

But a tumble in the ratings means that he should pose a threat in this one if he is on his game.

Another interesting sprint here and JENNIVERE is the current 9/4 market leader for it* (betting odds recorded 21:32 GMT at Ladbrokes on January 4th 20201).

She returns after scoring a second place at the course and distance three weeks ago.

That was in a nursery and she had the cheekpieces on for the first time, which she retains.

That was an excellent run and with the winner of that race having gone on to win last month (over course and distance) Jennivere is likely to be close.

LITTLE SUNFLOWER scored over course and distance last month, so, therefore, should feature strongly again.

But this is a tougher race for her to deal with.

But with that breakthrough under her belt, and with Hollie Doyle in the saddle, Little Sunflower piques interest even up 3lb.

TWENTYSHAPESOFGREY is the other for the shortlist in this contest. She claimed a second palace finish on her last run three weeks ago.

There is a 2lb rise for her as she goes in search of her first win still. But that second place in the Kempton nursery last time out at least shows some progress.

There was a third-place for him over the hurdles on his last run, so makes the switch back to the flat here.

In doing so he gets the visor thrown on for the first time. He was on the flat on his penultimate run when he took a decent third-place finish at Lingfield.

There should be further improvement to come from him, as he’s still on a decent mark.

ALCOCK AND BROWN looks to be a player in this field although he hasn’t been seen on the flat since 2016.

This is also a big trip up to what he has been used to as well.

But he does come in match fit as he had a run over the hurdles at Southwell three weeks ago when he was third. An interesting contender.

UNCLE BERNIE is our tip at 17/2* (betting odds recorded 21:32 GMT at Ladbrokes on January 4th 20201).

He is a former course and distance winner and posted a win at Wolverhampton in October. Uncle Bernie is up 3lb from that score.

He was below par on his latest run back at that same venue. If he’s in the mod, he can feature.

There is a double on the cards for him if he can complete the win.

He scored a very good effort at Lingfield three days ago at this distance, counting some promising form that he had been shown.

So Shamshon looks like a player here, although there is a 4lb penalty for him. He is a former course and distance winner.

MIAELLA looks for improvement as she returns for the first time for two months. She closed out by securing a four-timer so her threat cannot be dismissed back in action.

There is a much stiffer test ahead of Miaella in this one, however, but is not to be discounted.

The other selection will be DRAKEFELL who has scored in two of his three previous runs at Wolverhampton.

The latest run he had was at Southwell just over a couple of weeks ago where he took a respectable fourth-place finish from a field of nine.

That latest success for the former course and distance winner was just seven days ago.

He didn’t even have to get to top gear to secure the win in that one. So he’s turned out quickly here but should still have enough to get in the frame.

The Big threat to him is potentially PLANSINA who has won two of her last four appearances at Wolverhampton. She picked up a win on her latest run, scoring here 24 days ago.

There is a fair enough 2lb rise for her to go with and she has plenty of weight in hand over the favourite.

BY JOVE is not to be counted out of this either. He had the cheekpieces on for the first time when he was 4th of 12 at Lingfield two weeks ago.

This will be his first go on the tapeta and looks a nice fit for the trip.

He has also slid to what appears to be a very workable mark and should enter calculations in this wide-open fixture.

She comes up 6lb after scoring well at Chelmsford City three weeks ago. She was dominant at the finish there.

Despite the rise, Ladywood still looks to have a lot to offer.

If she’s in the same mood then she should be in the frame, especially as some of those she beat in that fixture she is up against here as well.

COMPLEXO was last seen 19 days ago when he took an excellent third-place finish to Ladywood in a Chelmsford City nursery.

The addition of the headgear certainly seemed to help him take his form to a different level. There could be a little extra stepping on to the tatpeta as well.

POCKETEER demands some respect coming on the tapeta for the first time as well. She improved to finish fourth in that fixture won by Ladywood at Chelmsford.

Pocketeer is still low mileagee and if she can find a way to build on that last effort, place claims are there.
