Race Favourite

The race favourite for this opening fixture of our preview is POP THE CORK at 3/1* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 18:05 GMT on Monday, 7th December 2020).

He has had a reappearance run, returning from 9 months ago at Wetherby recently.

It was the fourth place that he took, which was also the first run since wind surgery.

That Wetherby trip for Pop The Cork was 39 days ago and in it, Jonjo O’Neill’s gelding was running something like his best.

He should be sharper, so is one for the shortlist.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

FORT DE L’OCEAN has bagged back to back runners up finishes. The first of those was over the hurdles at Ludlow and then in chasing action at Market Rasen.

The switch back to hurdles is likely to be an easier ask for him.

Fort De L’ocean looks in good shape to mount a bold challenge and we are going with him at 9/2* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 18:05 GMT on Monday, 7th December 2020).

The other name for the shortlist is going to be SONG OF THE HUNTER who comes into handicap action for the first time.

He hasn’t been seen since March when scoring at Taunton on his hurdles debut. He looks like he could have a lot to offer this season.

Race Favourite

Heading up this handicap chase market is CAVE TOP at 11/4* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 18:05 GMT on Monday, 7th December 2020).

That was the culmination of improving form this season.

On his reappearance, he pulled up but has not looked back since then with the headgear on.

On his second run of the season, Cave Top was runner up here at Fontwell on a shorter tip before scoring at Southwell on his latest run.

It is hard to ignore the threat that he poses in this field and he may well be able to handle a 4lb rise that he has.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

HUGO’S REFLECTION is an interesting player in this one is up 3lb from when he scored a year ago at a 2m 5f trip.

He has had a couple of sharpeners under his belt this season, taking back to back third-place finishes.

Hugo’s Reflection looked to struggle a little bit over a longer trip at Southwell last time out. He’s dialled back 2lb from that so enters calculations.

BRIDLE LOANAN is probably going to be sharper for his reappearance run. That was at Wincanton last month at a similar distance.

It was a seventh-place finish that he took in that one. Back in January, he scored a very good win at 2m on just his second chase effort.

If he’s back to that level, he should contend.

14:38 Fontwell Mare’s Novices’ Hurdle Today’s Horse Racing Tips & Odds

Little River Bay 4/7

Race Favourite

The race favourite for this one is LITTLE RIVER BAY at 4/7* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 18:05 GMT on Monday, 7th December 2020).

She picked up a score on her reappearance run. That was last month at Wincanton.

Coming up on trip here for trainer Philip Hobbs, she looks as if she will have plenty more to bring to the table on Tuesday.

She comfortably saw off a reasonably strong field in that Wincanton effort.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

We would expect MEEP MEEP MAG to be in the frame as well.

She was a point-to-point winner last season and she signed off the campaign with a score on Boxing Day at Sedgefield.

That was in a bumper. It will be hurdles debut for her but will likely have the trip in her.

BURREN WALK would have to be the other selection to look at for the shortlist.

Alan King’s mare has had a couple of runs this season. She opened with a fourth palace finish at Warwick and then struggled a bit to get going at Exeter.

14:47 Uttoxeter Handicap Chase Today’s Horse Racing Tips & Odds

Go Steady 9/4
Neil The Legend 9/2
Dentley De Mee 6/1

Race Favourite

GO STEADY is the 9/4 favourite for this trip* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 18:05 GMT on Monday, 7th December 2020).

He was in brilliant form at the end of the last campaign. Back in March Go Steady made it three wins in four over the fences.

He failed to complete his run on his reappearance, which was at Fontwell, unseating his rider.

But he was coming along very well in chasing in the previous term and he did look to be moving well in that Fontwell effort. So we expect him to enter calculations.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

NEIL THE LEGEND has only had one chase effort before and that ended up being the best we have seen of him.

So the return to this sphere looks a very interesting move by handlers.

He was out over the hurdles for his reappearance run and failed to make an impact. That was last month at Ludlow.

We will also throw DENTLEY DE MEE onto the shortlist because of having seen plenty of action this season.

This will be the fourth run of the campaign. It has been back to back third-place finishes from him as he looks to be creeping his way into form. He’s already looked better than he did in the previous campaign.

The current market leader for this one is REGAL EAGLE at 11/8* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 18:05 GMT on Monday, 7th December 2020).

He has posted two wins in his last three runs. The most recent of those was 11 days ago over Blue Whisper.

Regal Eagle is under a 6lb penalty because of that latest success over course and distance.

But he looks to have plenty more in the bag to be able to handle such a rise. That score came on just his second run for his new yard. There’s plenty about him to like.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

WORD OF HONOR should be a big player here. He was also a course and distance winner.

He simply thrived on that occasion after coming back down to this from 1m 4f.

That made a notable difference and we expect him to be in the thick of things, even carrying a 5lb penalty with him.

That course and distance win was a week ago and Word Of Honour is an 11/2 selection* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 18:05 GMT on Monday, 7th December 2020).

The other that we are going to put on the shortlist is KHAZAF. He picked up a win at Newcastle on his penultimate run. T

hen he followed that up by making his handicap debut on a run at Southwell.

That was 12 days ago and he took a respectable enough fourth-place finish. The return to tapeta intrigues.

Race Favourite

Heading up this field is YOUNG JOHN at 6/4* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 18:05 GMT on Monday, 7th December 2020).

He posted a win on his latest effort which was just under two weeks ago.

That victory was taken here at Southwell and so Young John should go well again on his return. There was plenty left in the tank on that recent score.

It came after he was only beaten by a nose on his penultimate run so he is in great form at the moment and could be the one to beat.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

PUCHITA is another that likes this track and we expect the mare to throw down the strongest challenge to the favourite.

She was third over course and distance in a handicap just 11 days ago, confirming how much she likes a trip at Southwell.

Of the rest of the runners, it would have been REQUINTO DAWN that gets to the shortlist.

He scored on his pneumatic run, nailing a course and distance win last month.

Requinto Dawn was back over course and distance just 11 days ago though and ran a poor one, so needs to bounce back.

18:45 Southwell handicap Today’s Horse Racing Tips & Odds

Race Favourite

LOCH NESS MONSTER is the current 13/8 favourite for the score in this one* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 18:05 GMT on Monday, 7th December 2020).

He will be looking to secure a double when he runs on Tuesday. He is up 2lb from a course and distance win just 12 days ago.

Loch Ness Monster got the better of Sophar Sogood in that one, who he opposes again.

The big thing out of that race was that the extra trip that he took on really suited him.

Loch Ness Monster retains Erika Parkison for the ride who delivered that win.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

We would expect SOPHAR SOGOOD to be back in the frame as he battles Loch Ness Monster again.

Sophar Sogood was a winner over course and distance in October. That recent run that he had back over C&D is more than enough to hint that another good run is coming.

COLD HARBOUR is one to consider as well for this contest being a four-time winner at Southwell.

It has been a while since he stuck a win on the board anywhere. His latest run was here 11 days ago and didn’t really find top gear. He rarely runs at this distance.
