Today’s horse racing tips for the midweek action casts an eye over some interesting fixtures of the day.

We have some good chase action that is happening on the day, but for today’s horse racing tips we are also looking at flat action.

We kick off today’s horse racing tips with a look at this minimum-distance sprint at Southwell.

MULZIM is the current 11/8 favourite* (betting odds recorded 23:37 GMT on Tuesday, 23rd February 2021 at William Hill).

He will be looking to secure a hat trick and what would also be his sixth course and distance victory. So Mulzim clearly brings some big claims to the table.

Mulizm had plenty to spare at course and distance three weeks ago and it wouldn’t surprise many to see him back it up.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

LAMPANG jumps onto the fibresand for the first time and he should be in the frame if he adapts.

There is a tongue tie on for the first time.

Lampang needs a big bounce back performance after finishing well down the field in a Wolverhampton handicap last time out.

ORNATE is the biggest threat we see to the favourite. He picked up a victory on his latest run and just looks to be on the up.

That victory was over course and distance 27 days ago, the third such victory of his career.

There’s not a particularly great field in attendance for this one. But Patroclus recorded his first when delivering at Exeter last month.

That was after having shown a lot of promise on his season-opener in a Warwick maiden in December.

He should set the standard here for Nicky Henderson.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

JEREMY PASS is the other obvious selection for the shortlist. He needs to bounce back following poor effort at Ascot on his latest.

But before that he won his reappearance run at Wincanton. So if he can slip back into that kind of form then he may get close.

Considerations also go to RIGGS. He returns from a couple of months off the track.

His last run was on Boxing Day at Kempton when he produced a very solid third in a handicap effort there.

That followed him having gotten off the mark at Uttoxeter in November.

FAGAN and AMI DESBOIS are the current 3/1 joint favourites* (betting odds recorded 23:37 GMT on Tuesday, 23rd February 2021 at William Hill).

FAGAN scored a win at Newbury on his latest run, which was five weeks ago.

He is still full of ability clearly there and gets a 10lb rise to deal with for this one.

AMI DESBOIS earned a runner spot on his latest effort which was at Kempton 7 weeks ago.

He had a couple of bright moments in staying handicaps last season, taking a couple of runners-up finishes. He can battle.

GUITAR PETE was a faller at Kempton his latest run.

But he’s the type to bounce back from that kind of thing and he was making good headway in the contest at the 3m distance.

He is a smart chaser and there are place claims for Guitar Pete.

ROCKY’S TREASURE maybe one to keep onside as well. He scored at course and distance in December in one of the best runs for a long time.

He gets the visor for the first time after a real struggle on his follow up to that win, which was here at Doncaster.

He has shown plenty of promise for Nicky Henderson this season for his new yard.

The most recent run that he had saw him take third in a Wincanton Chase over 3m 1f.

So Ballycross commands respect although he can be a frustrating one for supporters to follow.

VOLCANO looks to be the way to go at 2/1* (betting odds recorded 23:37 GMT on Tuesday, 23rd February 2021 at William Hill).

That’s because he has scored three of his last four goals over the fences now.

Volcano does deal with an 11lb rise but he is just thriving in this sphere at the moment.

The other shortlist material in the race is DIEU VIVANT who is looking for a response to having pulled up at Wincanton last month.

He is a course and distance hunter winner, which happened at the back end of last season.

He’s not in bad shape for this campaign and place claims are there.

That was a big jump back to form from him after a forgettable reappearance run.

Big Bresil comes up in trip for this one and the low mileage 6 year old may thrive under this bigger test of stamina.

SUPAKALANISTIC can’t be written off. He is a wonderfully versatile horse and he seems to just go well whatever is in front of him.

With some cracking form of two wins and a runners up finish from three efforts this season, he can get in the frame.

ASHFIELD PADDY is interesting after a decent third place in a field of seven at Wincanton on his latest run.

That could have sharpened him up and it was over the hurdles.

Ashfield Paddy has been a great fit in handicap hurdles this season and after a couple of failed tries at chasing this season, he’s back where is comfortable.

He was in superb form in the previous campaign including four wins at course and distance. The most recent of those was in December.

Uznicso’s latest run was at C&D 39 days ago when he was fourth, when the race didn’t quite pan out for him.

There’s plenty of room for him still in the handicapping and has to be a big player back in action on Wednesday.

PERFECT FOCUS comes into handicap action for the first time in this one.

This will also be the first attempt at a mile in his career as well.

There is some potential on his side still, so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him enter calculations.

There should be a bold bid coming from TOMMY ROCK after scoring last time out.

That victory happened at course and distance.

This is an unfamiliar trip for him and Tommy Rock will be handling a 5lb rise in the ratings as well. But he is not without a chance.
