The race favourite for this Haydock handicap hurdle is March Is On at 3/1* (betting odds recorded 18:37 GMT on March 23rd 2021 2021 at William Hill).

There has not been a great deal of positive form from MARCH IS ON recently, but he did win at 4lb higher at Southwell last winter.

He arrives on the back of a fifth-place finish at Ffos Las on a 3m trip last month. It’s not been the most inspiring of current form and the favourite can probably be taken on.

Heading things up as our horse racing tip is RARE CLOUDS at 9/2* (betting odds recorded 18:37 GMT on March 23rd 2021 2021 at William Hill). He returns after a 388 day away and he gets the tongue tie. This will also be the first run for Rare Clouds since a wind op.

On his last effort a year ago, Rare Clouds claimed a good runner up effort at Sedgefield and he is just worth watching.

DRUMLEE GETAWAY is going to be the other name for the shortlist. She returns to action after a couple of months odd and has had a wind surgery during that break.

Drumle Getaway has yet to get off the mark in this sphere but there is a probable improvement to come now from the handicapping debut.

She got off the mark for the season last time out when she readily won at Wetherby over a 3m trip 35 days ago. This extra trip is likely to pull even more improvement out of her as she looks like she needs more.

At the end of last season, Destinee Royale picked up a score at Market Rasen and looks to be on the up at the moment. So she is well worth considering.

The big threat to the favourite is SAMUEL JACKSON who won that Devon National at Exeter on his latest run. There is a 5lb rise in the ratings now for him to deal with. He produced a fantastic amount of fight and attitude to get that score at Exeter.

The final one for the shortlist in this contest is CHEF D’OEUVRE who wasn’t disgraced with a fifth-place place in a Doncaster chase last time out. That was 18 days ago on a 3m 2f trip.

Back in 2018, he won a staying handicap at Haydock and after missing last season, he seems to be working his way back into some kind of form.

He has been in fantastic heart this season and on his second run of the campaign claimed a novice effort at Doncaster over 2m.

Following that, Gunsight Ridge followed up with a place finish at both Newbury and Kempton. So it’s been a fantastic start to his hurdle career and it may not take him too much to get back to winning ways.

ROSIE AND MILLIE has run very well in defeat this and should be right in the mix. She now has a run for the first time after wind surgery. So that could potentially pull a little more from here. Rosie And Millie also comes up on the trip.

She likes to get to the front and dominate and on her latest run, which was on New Years’ Day, he fought very well to take a third-place finish.

QUEST FOR LIFE is also worth a look at in this one. He just missed out on a hat trick. After opening the season with a score at Musselburgh after 18 months away, he followed up in a jumpers’ bumper.

He was still shaping well on a return to chasing last time out when he took fourth place. Quest For Life can have a big say in this.

The follow up to that success saw Hudson Yard take a runner-up spot finish at Catterick last month. She now steps into handicapping and there could be plenty of improvement to come because of that.

MISS HONEY RYDER arrives back in action after picking up a score at Taunton three weeks ago. That was her second success in this sphere. She looked like she really benefited from the extra trip that she was given there.

Miss Honey Ryder was under a 10lb claimer in that one who is retained for the ride in midweek. The rating is up however and this is a tougher contest.

GLOBAL HARMONY makes her handicap debut here and that looks like it is going to be a positive move for David Skelton’s mare. She did claim a Wincanton novices’ effort in December and looked back on track last time out.

He has been making very positive strides over the hurdles this season. On his penultimate run, he claimed a course and distance success to get off the market in the sphere.

The follow-up form of Fawsley Spirit was even better as he took a second-place finish on a 3m handicap trip at Ascot. That was quite the eye-catching run and he brings some bold claims.

FANTASTIKAS should also be right there. At the fourth time of asking Fantaskitas got himself off the mark over the hurdles.

He will be even more interesting now coming into handicapping as that could pull more from him. Fantatiskas has been in good heart all of this campaign and looks to have a big chance.

ONE FOR YOU also needs to be respected for this contest. He picked up a very comfortable win three weeks ago at a Ludlow handicap. He had the tongue tie on for that one which is now retained.

That victory came on his handicap debut and the extra couple of furlongs that are in front of him for this contest is likely to suit him very well.

She should be a strong player in this one. On her penultimate run, she claimed a win at Catterick over Christmas on the switch to the hurdles. That was on a 2m trip.

Barden Bella was looking in the thick of things on her follow up effort as well but fell two from home at Fakenham. It’s not a big stretch to imagine her bouncing back strongly.

SECRET COURT has a big chance in this one with plenty of potential on her side in chasing. Over the hurdles, she was going along well and since the switch to the bigger stuff, she has failed to complete either run.

Her latest effort was over the hurdles at Catterick in December and pulled up there. The hood goes on.

LEAVE MY ALONE should go well again as she is thriving at the moment with two runners up finishes and a win in her last three. The score in that sequence happened on her penultimate run, a 3m handicap chase at Fakenham in January.

She only found one too good, and that was a very well handicapped opponent on her follow up a month ago at Taunton.
