The race favourite for this contest is FRANKINCENSE at 2/1* (betting odds recorded 2043 GMT on Friday, 15th January 2021 at William Hill).

He picked up a win on his last run which was at Exeter 74 days ago.

That form really has been franked since then, so Frankincense looks to be a big player in this field.

That Exeter win did happen at the 2m mark and that has been two good efforts over the hurdles now from him.

If he handles the 6lb rise, he should be well in the frame. We’d back him to do it.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

MAGNIFICENT BEN gets the cheek pieces on for the first time as he comes into the handicapping for the first time.

This does look a good opportunity for him to get himself going and some big progress is expected from the former point winner. This will be his fourth go over the hurdles.

DETACHED is another that gets the cheek pieces on for the first time and he could feature well here before.

He picked up a success at Uttoxeter on his penultimate race and put in a decent enough shift on his follow at Catterick with an inexperienced jockey.

The current 6/5 favourite is SKY PIRATE* (betting odds recorded 2043 GMT on Friday, 15th January 2021 at William Hill).

He will be looking to complete a double as he comes back on the weekend.

At Cheltenham five weeks ago he collected a victory, claiming a victory by 4 lengths. That was a really promising and bold run on a very similar trip.

The runner up from that contest has since gone on to win, to frank that form.

If he follows up anywhere near that kind of form after bolting up in December he could be very difficult to beat.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

AMOOLA GOLD for David Skelton is another of the main players in this field.

He was second on his last effort after just leaving it a little too late to launch his challenge at Ascot in November.

There have been scores at Ascot and Wetherby from him this season already. Amoola Gold has big claims as well.

The other obvious selection is EQUUS MILLAR who is another who is looking for a double.

That last success happened at Haydock a month ago and he takes on a 5lb rise.

But regardless of that, he looks to be competitive as he was really on top of his game last time out.

He scored on his last run for trainer Paul Nicholls. That was on his chasing debut which happened at Grade 2.

There should be a lot more to come as he took to the fences very sharply for the first time.

Next Destination was also a Grade 1 novice hurdle winner a few years ago. If there are no mistakes then he is the front runner.

FIDDLERONTHEROOF has produced another good season under the tutelage of Colin Tizzard. It has been one win this season from four trips.

That victory happened in chase action at Exeter back in November.

Fiddlerontheroof has since followed up with good runners up finishes in Grade 2 efforts since. He takes a big step up in trip now.

GOLAN FORTUNE is expected to be the outsider for this contest. He was up at Grade 1 last time out and he put in a good shift at Kempton.

That followed up a victory on his first go over the fences in a 3m Ludlow novice chase. He probably has a little too much to find.

Make Me A Believer built on an excellent second place on hurdles debut to score in a really strong fashion at Cheltenham.

He is coming up in trip for this one and showed a very good attitude there to dig in.

OSCAR ELITE is aiming for a hattrick as he comes into action on Saturday.

He opened his account under rules in fine fashion at Chepstow and was back there for his follow up, scoring in a three-runner field.

There is further improvement to come from him.

ADRIMEL is going to be the one that gets the nod from us in this one at 11/2* (betting odds recorded 2043 GMT on Friday, 15th January 2021 at William Hill).

He has produced some good stuff in winning both of his runs this season, both over the hurdles.

Adrimel gets the cheekpieces on as he comes up in trip and looks a really promising fit.

MINT CONDITION may offer a little interest in a longer priced option. He has taken three wins in four efforts this season and has looked superb over the hurdles.

The latest of those wins happened three weeks ago at Wetherby. There could be more to come.

He kicked off the new season in fine fashion with a victory at Bangor on a 3m trip. So he is taking on a longer challenger in this one.

Notachance stayed on very well though so may be able to handle the extra trip that is facing him here.

The 7 year old is still fairly low mileage and has enough to enter calculations in this one.

LE BREUIL looks to be a big player in this contrast as well after a third-place finish in the Becher Chase at Aintree.

He has had wind surgery since then, but that has been two runs from him this season and they have both been very solid ones.

Le Breuil doesn’t look far away and we fancy him to take a step forward with a score at 11/2* (betting odds recorded 2043 GMT on Friday, 15th January 2021 at William Hill).

A hattrick-seeker is STORM CONTROL is expected to be in the mix as well. He was well in control on his latest run which was at Cheltenham.

That is back to back wins at Cheltenham that he has taken.

There has been a 5lb rise for him now and the useful chaser probably has enough to show well in this very competitive field.

He’s not to be dismissed.

COME ON TEDDY is the market leader at 7/2 for this Pertemps Network Handicap Hurdle* (betting odds recorded 2043 GMT on Friday, 15th January 2021 at William Hill).

He is seeking a double and will have to defy a 7lb rise to get that done.

His latest run saw him be successful in a 12-runner field at Cheltenham in a 3m handicap trip.

That last effort was in December and by a margin of 6l.

That was his second hurdles success around the 3m mark and therefore he warrants plenty of respect.

IMPERIAL ALCAZAR never got going on his reappearance effort which was at Haydock.

But going back to the form that he was producing at the back end of last season then he is worth revisiting.

There is plenty of promise still in him and he will be expected to return sharper.

Perhaps not worth chancing over the favourite, but Imperial Alcazar should get close.

MR HARP has plenty of scope to improve and he takes on an 8lb rise in what is a stronger race.

His score happened at Uttoxeter in December last year as he cruised to a 3l victory.
