He is a former course and distance winner and will be under a 3lb penalty.

Charlie Appleby’s 4 year old picked up a win at Newmarket on his latest run.

That was in the Palace House at Newmarket in which he defied a penalty. Throw into the mix a Group 3 win at Newbury last season, Lazuli has to be back on the radar.

There are likely to be strong challenges from both ARECIBO and KEEP BUSY in this Sandown contest.

The former is coming down in class after second place in the Group 1 King’s Stand at Royal Ascot.

This is a very good competitive race and it looks like being super competitive as well. MONTHATHAM has clear claims here.

On his reappearance, he picked up a place finish behind winner Top Rank on a 1m tip at Doncaster in March. His yard is in form and Montatham has a big chance.

So too PYTHAGORAS who comes back to the 1m trip after a tiring effort at Royal Ascot on a 1m 2f trip. This should be easier and well within his range.

But we are going for TRAIS FLUORS as our horse racing tip at 13/2* (betting odds recorded 21:37 GMT on July 2nd 2021 at Coral). That is because there was a recent course and distance win for him.

It happened last month and a follow-up effort in the Hunt Cup can be easily excused. So there’s every chance that Trais Fluors shows up well here.

We have to stick with the current 2/1 favourite STATEMENT for this interesting contest* (betting odds recorded 21:37 GMT on July 2nd 2021 at Coral).

There was a good reappearance from her at Newbury in the Fred Darling but is looking for a sharp return to form after struggling a bit since.

But Statement is coming down a long way in grade in this one and that puts her right in the frame.

That effort from the Fred Darling Stakes at the start of the season is still in the mind and she won’t be touched if she brings that form.

AURIA was second at Ascot in April on her reappearance run. That was a much improved and impressive performance.

She followed up with an excellent run in a Newbury listed race to take fourth place and has solid claims here.

GLESGA GAL still has plenty of potential on her side. She showed some of that to score at Wolverhampton in May.

She tired on the run at Royal Ascot last time out in some heavy conditions. This could suit her better.

Even though there are only four declared runners for this year’s renewal of the Coral Eclipse, there’s a cracking lineup.

There really doesn’t look to be too much to choose between the first three in the market.

MISHRIFF is the current 6/4 favourite though and probably just about, by a teensy bit, worth siding with* (betting odds recorded 21:37 GMT on July 2nd 2021 at Coral).

He arrives looking for home success after some fantastic performances out in the Middle East. After taking the Saudi Cup, Midriff produced a stunning finish to follow up and win the Dubai Sheema Classic in March.

So he’s hot right now and last year’s Prix du Jockey Club winner should have this firmly within his sights.

ST MARK’S BASILICA claimed his year’s Prix du Jockey Club and that followed up with a win in the French 2000 Guineas. He is looking better all the time and should be right there.

Very solid claims are also there for ADDEYBB who is talented enough, and in good enough form to pull off an upset against both.

This is another good competitive fixture from Sandown on Saturday. Our horse racing tip is DREAM WITH ME at 6/1* (betting odds recorded 21:37 GMT on July 2nd 2021 at Coral).

He missed out on a hattrick on his latest run, looking way too keen in the early stages at Epsom.

But he was bang in form before that, claiming back to back wins. The most recent of those was in a 1m 2f Ayr handicap in May. We expect him to bounce back.

The principal threats in the contest are MAKRAM who has had narrow misses on his last two runs. He was favourite for the Zetland Gold Cup last time out but just missed and now comes up 2lb.

The other for the shortlist is CLASSICAL WAVE who is in great heart at the moment. He missed out on his third win in four runs this season, with the stewards stripping him at Windsor.

Classical Wave goes for Roger Varian for the first time.

There are plenty of claims in this one. RUN TO FREEDOM certainly has some and lines up as the current favourite.

After a six month break, he performed well on his handicap debut at course and distance. He went a little too early in that and had to settle for a second.

FANTASY MASTER was very good last time out with a third-place finish in a field of 19 at the Holyroodhouse at Royal Ascot. The extra trip here will be a question.
