Tottenham News and Form

Tottenham can relax on the final day of the season. Mathematically they can still be beaten to fourth place, but that is highly unlikely to happen. For it to happen Arsenal have to overturn a three-point deficit and a goal difference of eight against Spurs to make that happen. So that is highly unlikely. That is probably some good news for Spurs because they are currently out of form in the top flight.

Everton to beat Spurs

Spurs have suffered back-to-back league defeats, and both of those were 1-0 reverses against West Ham at Bournemouth. Last weekend they saw two men sent off in their loss against Bournemouth. So it has been a campaign in the top flight where they look to have run out of steam. But in midweek they showed a tremendous amount of character.

Spurs mounted a powerful come back in Amsterdam to beat Ajax in the Champions League semifinals. That was an exhausting and emotional night which may well have taken something away from them for this league fixture on the weekend. Spurs are W12 D1 L5 this season on home soil in the Premier League.

Overall home and away Spurs have lost five of their last eight games played, and four of those five defeats were out on the road. They were on a three-match winning streak in the league at their new stadium before they lost against West Ham in their last home fixture. Spurs have picked up a clean sheet in almost 40% of home league games this season, while seven of their 12 home victories have been by a margin of at least two goals. The Lilywhites have scored 62% of their home goals after the half time break.

Everton News and Form

The Toffees have been having a good time of things since the end of February. Although it took a while, that is when the season started to come together for them. Everton have suffered just two defeats in their last 10 Premier League games and both of those were out on the road against Newcastle and Fulham. However, their defence has by and large been pretty impressive lately.

Everton have earned a clean sheet in eight of their last 10 league games now, home and away. That has been an impressive return. Away from home, this season Everton have only won the five games (W4 L9). In their last five away games, Everton have produced a record of W2 D1 L2.

Six of Everton’s nine defeats away from Goodison Park this season have been by a margin of only one goal. Everton have picked up a clean sheet in three of their last five away games, with each of their last three on the road going under 2.5 goals. Everton have been sat level at the half-time break in 11 of their 18 road fixtures.

Of the goals which they have conceded away from home, 78% of them have been in the second half of games. Just eight times this season have Everton scored the opening goal of an away fixture. As a nod towards their current upswing in form, only two teams, Liverpool and Manchester City, have picked up more points in the last eight rounds of league action than Everton have done.

Tottenham v Everton Predictions

Draw: Everton have looked a more assured side down the back end of the season and if you combine that with the demise in Tottenham’s form, then maybe the Toffees can get something out of this. The draw at the end of the day looks a decent enough proposition for what is essentially a meaningless game.
