Premier League sides clash in Baltimore

Football Betting

Tottenham v Liverpool betting sees the two Premier League sides pull together for an interesting friendly ahead of the new season. Spurs’ Gareth Bale has been hitting the news headlines after pulling out of the London 2012 Olympics because of a back injury. This prompted FIFA boss Sepp Blatter to issue a warning that players playing for their clubs during the Olympics after dropping out of the Olympic squad, could face a ban. Bale was originally selected for Team GB, but then pulled out because of injury, but the Welsh winger put in a performance for Spurs against the LA Galaxy during midweek. It would all be down to the FA complaining about it, which they don’t seem too likely to do. So it was Bale’s goal for Spurs that earned a point in their game against the MLS side. Bale had put Spurs ahead, but they couldn’t hold out. New Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas saw Rafael van der Vaart and Kyle Walker pick up injuries, but it wasn’t a bad outing for Spurs, not bad, but they did spend quite a bit of time on the back foot, even though they had the better of early chances.

There may not be too much derivation from the Spurs of last season to this, and now they move on to their next match, a game in Baltimore to face Liverpool. They are still without unsettled midfielder Luka Modric, who Villas-Boas is unhappy with for not showing for the pre-season Tour and who has had to train with the reserve side. The Reds are embroiled in transfer rumours at the moment, with Andy Carroll getting big interest from West Ham, while Brendan Rodgers has been accused of breaking an agreement with former club Swansea in making an approach for midfielder Joe Allen. Liverpool have a couple of pre-season matches under their belt and they haven’t picked up a win yet. Granted, they haven’t had a lot of their first team players around in their 1-1 draw with FC Toronto, and then a 2-1 defeat against Roma. The general lack of experience throughout the Liverpool side didn’t help them get into the game at all, and it was a comfortable ride for Roma until Charlie Adam, trying to prove his value at the club, pulled one back.

So not too much to be taken by their encounters so far. Rodgers was joined by players who were at the Euro 2012 Championships earlier in the week and will probably get a run out against Spurs. Liverpool have a Europa League qualifying match coming up, which Liverpool will be targeting more. That is against Gomel on Thursday, August 2nd. The outcome of this pre-season friendly in Tottenham v Liverpool betting will all be down to how Liverpool treat the game and whether or not they put in more experienced players. Spurs probably just have a little more talent and game changers in their line up to start with.
