Tottenham News and Form – Can Spurs land first home win under Mourinho?

Spurs had Jose Mourinho in charge for the first time last weekend. They had to sweat out a result as well. After having been 3-0 up at West Ham, they suddenly found themselves pegged back to 3-2 with injury time on the cards. Spurs held out after the wobble for three points. They then had to come from behind at home against Olympiakos in the Champions League in midweek to pick up a win.

So it hasn’t been defensively great so far. But it’s early days and at least the win over West Ham last weekend saw Spurs snap a five-match winless streak of form. It has only been two successes in their last eight league games though (D3 L3) so Spurs have a lot of improvement to go. At home in the top flight this season, the Lilywhites are W3 D2 L1. They are starting the weekend nine points outside of the top four.

Tottneham have taken a clean sheet in their last four home games against Bournemouth, so maybe they will get an easier time of things at the back on Saturday. They have conceded just five goals in their six home games with the one clean sheet under their belt. Tottenham have been losing at halftime in three of their six home games (W2 D1) which is a bit shaky. It has been back to back home 1-1 draws for Spurs. Can they give themselves a lift?

  • Spurs have one win in their last seven league games
  • Bournemouth have scored 3 goals in their last 6 EPL fixtures

Bournemouth News and Form – Can the Cherries beat Spurs?

Bournemouth have lost their last two league games. They were both 2-1 losses against Newcastle and Wolves. It leaves them with a W2 D1 L3 record away from home and still, looking at their most recent form, it has been a lack of goals which is hurting them. The Cherries have scored just three goals in their last six league outings. They have netted just once in their last three out on the road. The two wins that the Cherries have taken on their travels were against sides currently in the bottom six.

They have failed to net in two of their six away games. They have been pretty decent in defence for the large part this season, but will they have enough offensively to get anything out of this trip to North London? Bournemouth have scored 6 of their 7 away goals this season in the first half of matches. They will also be up against that record of having lost their four previous EPL games at Spurs. Simon Francis misses the game through suspension after being red-carded last weekend.
