Trinidad & Tobago News and Form – Rare victory for the Soca Warriors?

Trinidad & Tobago started their CONCACAF Gold Cup campaign with a disappointing 2-0 loss to Panama in Saint Paul. Lawrence’s boys were second best throughout, conceding 16 shots along the way.

The Soca Warriors were then eliminated from the competition after being heavily beaten by USA in Cleveland. Trinidad failed to get going at the FirstEnergy Stadium, although they did hold USMNT out for the first 41 minutes. However, the States ran riot in the second period, going on to score five times in the 6-0 mauling.

Trinidad & Tobago have not tasted victory since beating United Arab Emirates in a friendly fixture back in September last year, which remains their only win since March 2018. Meanwhile, they have lost five of their last six.

It’s been a miserable tournament for the Soca Warriors, but can they end their poor Gold campaign Cup on a high with three points on Wednesday?

Guyana News and Form – Golden Jaguars to come up short?

Guyana, who are making their first ever Gold Cup appearance, have given a good account of themselves during their time in the States. They may have lost both games, conceding four times in each, but the Golden Jaguars have certainly brought colour and a feel-good factor to the competition.

Guyana’s first Gold Cup game ended in a 4-0 defeat to one of the tournament hosts, USA. However, they frustrated the Americans for 28 minutes before Paul Arriola’s opener. Tyler Boyd (2) and Gyasi Zardes went on to get the other goals for the Stars and Stripes.

Johnson’s troops then scored their first ever Gold Cup goals in last weekend’s 4-2 reverse to Panama in Ohio. Former Crystal Palace and Leicester City man Neil Danns netted twice for the Golden Jaguars.

Guyana will have no doubt enjoyed their maiden Gold Cup campaign, but they would love to bow out with a win in Kansas on Wednesday evening, sealing third spot in Group D in the process.

Trinidad & Tobago v Guyana Predictions

Trinidad & Tobago win: Trinidad head into this final Gold Cup Group D encounter as the odds-on favourites, but Guyana could make life difficult in Kansas City. Still, my money is going on a narrow win for the Soca Warriors, so take a punt on Trinidad to win by one goal at 5/2. Between them, Trinidad and Guyana have conceded a whopping 16 goals in this tournament so far. Both have leaky defences, and I like the look of over 4.5 goals at 9/2.
