Tuesday Racing: Loving From The Heart at 7/2 with Coral for 2.10 Warwick 22 January

Cadenza can give virtuoso performance at Warwick

Horse Racing Betting

Most would have a chance in the 3.10 Askews Handicap Chase at Warwick on Wednesday. But From The Heart, the junior member of the party, may be the one with most scope for further improvement.

There are nine runners entered for this class 4 contest with the weights headed by Broadclyst.

Though successful three times in point-to-points, Chris Down’s charge has yet to win a race under National Hunt Rules. he was second on his final start of last season, however, and also on his belated reappearance at Wincanton no Boxing Day when finishing ahead of another of today’s rivals, Fleminport. Broadclyst is a best 11/4.

High Counsel has won his last two races at Southwell and Warwick.

Young Alexander Thorne has been in the saddle for both victories and again has the reins as Gary Hanmer’s late developer bids to defy a further 6lb rise in the weights and land the hat-trick. His progress this season has defied logic so can he again come home in front at 5/1 with Paddy Power.

Goodnight Charlie has not lived up to expectations this season but is slipping back towards a workable handicap mark and eased in grade. He’s a dour stayer who has thrived at Warwick in the past. It would be no surprise if the 10-year-old attracted market support at the 14/1 with Paddy Power.

Heart may be in the right place

FROM THE HEART put the experience of a debut second over fences at Huntingdon to good use with a battling victory next time at Taunton.

A 7lb rise in the weights for that success looks harsh but Philip Hobbs’ novice was running off higher marks over hurdles and his new rating has probably factored in untapped potential.

That first career victory at Taunton coincided with Richard Johnson riding the six-year-old for the first time. The champion intended to keep the partnership intact but his mishap at Exeter yesterday has dented those ambitions. The 7/2 with Coral is probably a fair price if the six-year-old adapts to going left-handed.

Can Cadenza give another virtuoso performance?

Flowing Cadenza is strongly fancied to land the feature Watch RacingTV With Free Trial Now Handicap Hurdle at 2.40 at Warwick.

Bob Buckler’s mare had shown some ability in her first four runs over hurdles without pulling up any trees. But she looked a different proposition when tackling 3m for the first time at Ascot.

Clearly ‘expected’ having attracted significant support in the betting market, she showed staying was her game with an authoritative success. She’s related to the stable’s strong stayer Regal Flow so it is unlikely she’ll be fazed by having to cover another quarter-mile and she looks a step ahead of the handicapper.

Terrierman, representing the Dan Skelton yard, may be the danger at ??? with ??? as he ventures into handicap company for the first time. He lost nothing in defeat at Doncaster last time when trying to give 7lb to Mercian Knight, whom he’d beaten earlier at Southwell.

Golden Sovereign will need to take a further step forward having got off the mark last time in a maiden while Good And Hardy was beaten when odds-on to complete a hat-trick at Uttoxeter off a 9lb lower mark.
