Euro 2020 Italy Odds & Prediction: Will Italy win Group A?

The favourite to sweep Group A at Euro 2020 is Italy.

Italy Group Euro bets have a current quote of 1/2 odds-on the Azzurri to come out on top of the opposition* (odds recorded at 05:34 GMT on May 2nd, 2021 at Betfair).

In qualification for the tournament, Italy breezed through their group, winning all ten matches played and tallying 37 goals.

They kicked off their World Cup 2022 qualification campaign with three straight 2-0 wins this year.

Naturally, things are going to get a little tougher for Roberto Mancini’s men at the Euros. The pressure goes up a few notches.

The last we saw of Italy competitively in tournament action, was in the 2020/21 Nations League.

Italy posted a W3 D3 record to win their section ahead of the Netherlands, Poland and Bosnia & Herzegovina.

That was a stiff workout for Italy there and it should leave them in good stead to put together a solid Euros campaign.

So the Azzurri do appear to be in good shape as they head to UEFA Euro 2021.

Even though their squad is fairly young, especially in midfield, the Azzurri have a bit of that old Italian steel in defence.

Italy have big generals at the back with the likes of Giorgio Chiellini and Leonardo Bonucci. While that veteran presence doesn’t translate to speed, the Azzurri are physically strong back there.

In the middle of the park, Marco Verratti and Nicolo Barella are going to be big influences for them, while they will rely on Ciro Immobile and Lorenzo Insigne for the goals.

If either of them fires in front of goal, Italy could have a strong campaign.

Ciro Immobile is a 20/1 option in the Euro 2020 Top Goalscorer market* (odds recorded at 05:34 GMT on May 2nd, 2021 at Betfair).

Wales Euro 2021 Odds: Will Wales reach the knockout stage – bets & odds?

After their brilliant run to the semi-finals of Euro 2016, Wales shouldn’t be totally written off at this summer’s championships.

Time and time against the last European Championships, Wales defied the odds to end up finishing third overall in the tournament.

That showed that they can rise to the occasion.

Wales hadn’t been given a big chance at all in the Euro 2016 Group Stage. But they came up trumps with a W2 D1 record to top their section ahead of England.

Wales Group Euro 2021 odds To Qualify are at 4/5* (odds recorded at 05:34 GMT on May 2nd, 2021 at Betfair).

In the 2020/21 Nations League Wales performed extremely well, conceding just one goal in six futures to win their League B group.

That was over Finland, Ireland and Bulgaria. What awaits them in the group stage of Euro 2020 is a lot tougher.

They look solid at the back, and they will be relying on their talisman and captain Gareth Bale to inspire them to succeed.

As mentioned, this isn’t necessarily about winning the group, it’s just getting through.

Some other group Euro bets for Wales see a quote of 15/8 on them to finish third and 11/4 on them to finish runner up.

They are 7/5 to finish bottom* (odds recorded at 05:34 GMT on May 2nd, 2021 at Betfair).

Key Facts – UEFA Euro 2021

  • Wales finished third at Euro 2016
  • Italy are former European champions
  • Tukey reached the semi finals at Euro 2008
  • Switzerland have got past the group stage in 1 of 4 previous attempts

Turkey Euro 2021 Tips: Can Turkey top the table?

Turkey failed to get past the group stage at Euro 2016 so will want to put on a better show this time around.

A look at Euro 2021 group bets sees Turkey as the 5/1 joint second-favourites (with Switzerland) to win Group A* (odds recorded at 05:34 GMT on May 2nd, 2021 at Betfair).

They get a tough opener as Turkey have to face group favourites Italy. But maximum points out of that opener for Turkey would blow the group wide open.

It would set Turkey up with a great position, leaving everyone else chasing them. So having to get the hard game out of the way first, could turn into a blessing.

But of course, actually winning the match has to be done and Turkey is currently 6/1 to win that Euro 2021 fixture against Italy* (odds recorded at 05:34 GMT on May 2nd, 2021 at Betfair).

Turkey is winless in ten previous matches against Italy (D3 L1).

A more realistic target for them is likely to just hold off Switzerland and Wales for second place.

But they could be coming into form at the right time.

They opened their World Cup 2022 qualifiers this year with a thumping 4-2 win over the Netherlands, before then scoring three goals in qualifiers against Norway and Latvia.

Since September last year, Turkey has been producing well in front of goal, but their defence remains suspect.

Switzerland Euros Predictions: Will the Swiss make an impact in Group A?

Switzerland is one of those teams who can look quite accomplished on their day, but at the same time fall a little short of what they could produce.

At Euro 2016 the Swiss made it out of the group stage before being defeated in a penalty shootout against Poland in the Round Of 6.

They departed the tournament with an undefeated W1 D3 record over 90 minutes.

In the 20201/21 Nations League Switzerland earned a W1 D3 L2 record in a tough group that contained Spain, Germany and Ukraine.

They drew with Germany twice in that group and once against Spain.

So they can dig in, but they may come up a little short in attack. Where are the goals going to come from to see Switzerland compete strongly?

Switzerland are a quote of 8/15 To Qualify* (odds recorded at 05:34 GMT on May 2nd, 2021 at Betfair).

Group A predictions European Championships

We will make some UEFA Euro 2021 Group A Predictions of course and we will start at the top. Of the four nations, Italy easily looks the strongest to us.

Their rock-solid defence should help see them to the top spot without too much fuss or bother in our eyes.

As for the runners up spot in Group A, we are going with Turkey. They have been scoring for fun since things got going again.

SO, they should be a very entertaining team to watch in the group stage potentially. Their defence doesn’t look as strong as either that of Italy or Wales in the group.

But Turkey should have enough in attack to take second.

So an Italy & Turkey Dual Forecast will feature as a Euro 2021 betting tip at 15/8* (odds recorded at 05:34 GMT on May 2nd, 2021 at Betfair).

What about that third-place finish, which could send a team through to the knockout phase based on ranking?

We think Wales will take it.

Wales are very well organised and will have confidence behind them after earning a Nations League promotion.

Wales should have nothing to fear in Switzerland who they meet in Baku in their opening match on June 12th.
