Spain to win group and reach knockouts?
Bookmaker Paddy Power
Odds: 3/10 odds taken 1836 GMT, Tuesday 11 May

Group E of UEFA Euro 2021 promises to throw up plenty of thrills and spills this summer. Spain, the three-time European Champions, are the favourites to win the group and reach the last 16. However, the likes of Sweden, Poland and Slovakia could prove to be stiff opposition for Luis Enrique’s men.

Group E kicks off on 14th June when Poland and Slovakia square off at the Krestovsky Stadium in Saint Petersburg. Spain’s tournament begins a few hours later when they take on Sweden on home soil at La Cartuja in Seville. Check out the latest and greatest Euro 2020 Group E betting tips and predictions.

Latest Group D Odds – Spain to top the lot?

As you would expect, Enrique’s Spain are the clear favourites with the bookies to win Group E with ease. However, the other three are more than capable of giving them problems, especially the Poles who are set to be led by the prolific Robert Lewandowski. Sweden also have a strong squad of players to choose from, while the Slovaks are an unpredictable outfit these days.

Spain are among the favourites to win Euro 2021 outright, so it comes as no surprise to see them heavily fancied to come out on top in Group E. At the time of writing, only England, France and Belgium are available at shorter odds to lift the trophy at Wembley Stadium in July. In terms of winning the group, Paddy Power have them priced at just 3/10.

Our betting prediction:
Cristiano Ronaldo top goalscorer
9/1

If any nation is to stop Spain from becoming top dogs in Group E, it will surely be Poland, who are now managed by former Swansea City, Queens Park Rangers & Leicester City boss Paulo Sousa. Bayern Munich star Lewandowski is enjoying another phenomenal season in Germany, and Poland are priced at 5/1 to win the group and 4/11 to qualify.

Finishing third for the so-called lesser countries could be vital in this summer’s tournament, with the best third-place nations going through to the last 16. Sweden, with the experienced Janne Andersson at the helm, will fancy their chances of progressing (1/2). However, they have failed to get past the group stage in each of the last three Euros.

Last but not least are Slovakia, who are certainly the underdogs in Group E. The Slovaks will be making just their second European Championship finals appearances since becoming a sole nation, but they did reach the last 16 in France five years ago. You can get 7/5 for Slovakia to cause an upset and go through.

Our betting prediction:
Spain to reach the semi-finals
8/5

Euro 2021: Group D Team Key Facts

  • Spain are three-time European Championship winners
  • Poland reached the last eight at UEFA Euro 2016
  • Sweden finished third at UEFA Euro 1992 on home soil
  • Slovakia are making just their second Euros appearance

Euro 2020 Spain Tips: Easy route to the last 16 for La Roja?

Spain head into Euro 2021 having won two of the last three European Championship tournaments. They picked up their second trophy in 2008 in Austria & Switzerland before successfully defending their crown four years on in Poland & Ukraine.

However, they had a rather disappointing tournament in France five years back, crashing out with a 2-0 loss to Italy in the Stade de France at the Round of 16 stage. Overall, the Spaniards won two and lost two to finish the tournament in tenth spot.

As we touched on, Spain are one of the favourites to win Euro 2020 outright, and La Furia Roja should have no issues reaching the last 16. They look a good bet to go through as group winners, even though there is not much value in the 3/10 odds.

Euro 2020/21 Poland Predictions: Will Lewandowski fire Poland into the knockouts?

Any team with Lewandowski in it has a chance of winning football matches. The Bayern man has been in blistering form in the Bundesliga yet again this season, and the Pole should be fit and firing to help his nation to European success this summer.

Poland have been in poor form in recent fixtures, though, losing three of their last five. In their last matchup back in March, which was a FIFA World Cup Qualifier, Poland were beaten at Wembley Stadium by Gareth Southgate’s England, who are the bookies’ favourites to win the Euros. Nevertheless, we are backing Sousa’s side to progress at 4/11.

Sweden Euros Preview: Swedes to come up short?

Sweden are one of the more unpredictable nations at the Euro 2020/21 tournament. Still, the Swedes deservedly booked their spot in the championships after finishing runners-up to Spain in qualifying Group F.

Sweden might not threaten the top two, but Andersson & Co. will back themselves to claim at least third position to go through as one of the best third-place sides. Sweden are available at 1/2 to qualify.

Slovakia Odds & Preview: Slovaks to prop up the Group E table?

Slovakia failed to qualify for five consecutive Euros after the breakup of Czechoslovakia, but they finally reached the major European tournament in 2016. Jan Kozak’s side shocked many by reaching the Round of 16 in France, eventually losing out to Germany.

Slovakia, now managed by Stefan Tarkovic, could find it tough going in Group E. Paddy Power have the Falcons priced at 14/1 to win the group and 4/5 to finish bottom. Unfortunately for them, the latter seems the more likely scenario.

Players to watch out for in Euro 2021 Group E: All eyes on Lewandowski

Group E at this summer’s Euros will provide plenty of world-class talent. Spain may not have the glitz and glamour of yesteryear, but Enrique’s 26-man squad will no doubt be a frightful sight for their Group E rivals. Ferran Torres has not had much of a look in at Manchester City this season, but the attacker scored a treble against Germany for Spain back in November and could play a key role for his country this summer.

Lewandowski remains one of the best strikers in world football, even at the tender age of 32. As we previously mentioned, the Bayern man will be coming into the Euros on the back of another stunning season in Germany. The bookies have Poland’s main man at 25/1 to win the Golden Boot this summer.

Our Group E Euro 2021 Predictions: Spain too strong for their opponents

After the disappointment of Euro 2016, Spain will want to be top dogs in Europe again in 2021. They dominated the 2008 and 2012 editions and are certainly capable of reaching those dizzy heights yet again. Spain are our tip to reach the last 16 of Euro 2020 by winning Group E.

With Spain going through looking like a formality, the real drama in Group E could be on the battle for second and who joins them in the knockout rounds. In truth, you can make a case for all three nations, but we fancy Poland to pip Sweden to second place. Euro 2016 felt like a coming of age of sorts for the Poles and kicking on from there will be vital going forward.

Poland kick off their tournament with a game against Slovakia in Russia, which will be a great chance to put an early three points on the board ahead of their second match against Group E favourites Spain. The final game of the group between Sweden and Poland at the Krestovsky Stadium could turn out to be the biggest of the group. Back Poland to finish runners-up at 17/10.
