The day’s racing action comes from Ayr, Leicester and Newcastle. A couple of Class 2 flat efforts at Leicester catch the eye for the day.

Race Favourite

The first race of our preview is this Leicester handicap. It is HARTSWOOD who is the current favourite at 9/4* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 22:45 GMT on Sunday, 25th October 2020).

He will be looking to continue on with some solid seasonal form.

Hartswood has improved well this season, following up a third place finish on reappearance to then score in a 1m York handicap.

He followed that up with another excellent run back at the same venue, claiming second in a field of 16.

After only just getting edged out in that latest race at the Ebor meeting, Hartswood looks a good player in this one. Especially after the one that beat him has since placed in a Listed event.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

ASCENSION tried to secure a hattrick when going over a 7f trip here recently. But he couldn’t quite get the job done, finishing in third place in the fixture.

But he is another that is progressing well and after a two-week break, could stirp fit enough to play hard. The extra furlong should help his cause and needs to be considered for the shortlist.

The other pick for the race will be DASHING ROGER who looks in good enough shape to put together another good run.

He scored in his penultimate race, a success at Yarmouth in September.

There was an excellent run from him over 1m on his last run three weeks ago at Pontefract. He will have to dig in because of an extra 4lb, but will likely be competitive.

Race Favourite

GENERAL BUX is the current market leader at 9/4* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 22:45 GMT on Sunday, 25th October 2020). He returned from a long break at Huntington last month, securing a fourth place finish.

He was never in touch though, but it’s reasonable enough to assume that he needed that run.

General Bux should certainly be much fitter for it. He is also going back up on the trip as well.

General Bux won two of his first three handicap chase wins for his new yard. He only had two runs last year.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

COSTLY DREAM is one to take note of as well for the trip. He has started to put together some nice consistent form. That included scoring at Hexham in September from a big 40/1 SP.

It wasn’t a fluke either as he has franked that form with having gotten himself in the frame in each of his following three trips.

Place should be there again. Costly Dream is well worth a look at 11/4* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 22:45 GMT on Sunday, 25th October 2020).

Making a return to action in his one is ASKING FOR DREAMS and he may be worth keeping on side. Back in January he claimed a second place finish over course and distance.

He followed that up with a decent 5th place at Carlisle before stepping away. So this is his repparance and if he’s sharp enough, he shouldn’t be discounted.

Race Favourite

This is an interesting race. AL SUIL EILE is at 5/2 as the current front runner with the bookmakers* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 22:45 GMT on Sunday, 25th October 2020). The gelding has been knocking on the door with recent form.

He was last seen in a seller here a couple of weeks ago and took a second-place finish behind SONG OF THE ISLES, who he re-opposes.

Al Suil Eile e is a previous course and distance winner and was only a length back of the latter selection in that recent run here.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

We would then expect SONG OF THE ISLES to be very much back in the picture as well. She got that win in a seller here over course and distance in heavy conditions.

That was in a field of 13, winning by a length. Even though there was plenty of cut in the ground, Song Of The Isles was running on very well at the end.

She’s giving 7lb to Al Suil Eile this go around but that wouldn’t discourage us.

REDEMPTIVE has a decent chance here of getting the better of both of the aforementioned runners. She won recently at Lingfield and was 5th of 11 at Yarmouth on a 7f trip in her last run.

That was fourteen days ago after a slow start. There has been plenty of solid handicap action from her.

BACHELOR BOY is the 4/1 favourite for this one* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 22:45 GMT on Sunday, 25th October 2020). That’s a narrow market lead.

The last time that he put a win on the board was at Wolverhampton back in June.

His recent form though has been a little disappointing. The last run he had he was nowhere near top form, finishing 7th of 12 at Kempton.

That was 55 days ago, so there’s a chance he’ll come back a little refreshed. Still, he looks to be a favourite worth opposing.

There are plenty of ways that we could go in this one. KIND REVIEW has to be a pick for the shortlist.

He claimed a very good 6f win here at Newcastle on his last trip. That was the third win in ten runs this year.

That recent score at the track at just under three weeks ago, the race playing out in his favour. Kind Review only goes up 3lb from that.

Another is DUKE OF FIRENZE. The 11 year old showed plenty of quality to come within a whisker of a score on his last run.

That was in a field of 10 at a Wovlerhampton handicap on a 5f trip a week ago. He hasn’t won since 2019, but that was a very credible last effort.

Another that could feature is DAZZLING DES who hasn’t been harshly treated by the assessor for a win at Lingfield 11 days ago.

He has gotten off really lightly with only 2lbs added on. That success was a career-best and it will be interesting to see what he does on his follow up.

We are going to consider another name for the shortlist as well. That will have to be ANOTHER ANGEL who has scored 7 times at course and distance.

The last victory that he took here was in September. Three weeks ago, Another Angel was third over course and distance again, another good run.

The 5/2 market leader for this one is TRAVELLER at 5/2* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 22:45 GMT on Sunday, 25th October 2020).

He will be looking to secure a hat-trick with this run on Monday. He will be dealing with a 5lb penalty after his latest score.

That was because he claimed a victory on his last trip at course and distance. That was in a field of 14 just 6 days ago, so he’s hot.

There was plenty left in him at the end as well. So a return will likely see him put another bold run together. Traveller has to be respected.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

ROGUE TIDE should be another big player in this field. He is also sitting on a hattrick after a big swing of form.

It has been impressive stuff from him, who is also a previous course and distance winner. 9 days ago he got a career best on the board with a score at Wolverhampton, keeping on well there.

With Hollie Doyle in the saddle, he can’t be taken lightly. Rogue Tide has to be value at 9/2* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 22:45 GMT on Sunday, 25th October 2020).

TWISTED DREAMS is the other one that will make it on to our shortlist.

He scored at Newcastle just under three weeks ago. He had to dig deep to pull it out, but showed great temperament to do just that.

Twisted Dreams had been building towards something like that. So he looks to be at his peak of current form and is improving all the time.
