Race Favourite

The race favourite is LITTLE RORY MAC at 3/1* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 19:10 GMT on Saturday, October 31st 2020).

He sounded off for last season with a win, that coming in a Kelso novice hurdle in March.

Two races before that he scored in a Market Rasen handicap hurdle in December. That win at Kelso was his first for Dr Richard Newland, and showed some promise.

Little Rory Mac will need to be respected in this contest. He looks to be on a fair mark for his return.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

VIVE LE ROI had a decent season last time out. He was nowhere near the form that saw him win three times in 2018.

But he was consistent and he makes an interesting player in this field if he is back sharp and refreshed.

The last action Vive Le Roi had was in February, taking a fifth place finish in a field of nine over the hurdle at Newbury. That was up at 3m.

We are going to swing for LANGER DAN as the other selection for the shortlist. We just like the fact that he has had a reappearance run already this season.

That came in quite a strong field at Chepstow under handicap terms. Langer Dan was ninth, but will be that much better for the trip, so he has to enter calculations.

THE TWISLER is the current 4/1 favourite for this handicap hurdle action at Plumpton on Monday* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 19:10 GMT on Saturday, October 31st 2020).

He made a big return to form last time out, scoring at Fakenham. The Twisler had made the most of a drop in ratings there to collect the win.

That was his second race back after reappearance. He had a little bit to spare in the contest as well. This is not the strongest of fields that he is going up against, so there’s a big chance of his scoring the double.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

CAWTHORNE LAD would be another who looks likely to find himself in the frame. He is making his seasonal appearance. It will be his first run for new handler Jonjo O’Neill as well.

So that makes him interesting. Cawthorne Lad was decent over the hurdles for Tim Easterby last season at all. He has been away for 8 months, and could have a chance here.

There is enough interest piqued to have him as our 13/2 pick* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 19:10 GMT on Saturday, October 31st 2020).

MEDALLA DE ORO could have a chance as well, benefitting from a 10lb claimer. You can’t help but think that is going to be a big factor in a low-key field.

Medalla De Oro scored on his debut on the flat. Last season he bagged three straight second-place finishes as he made the switch to hurdling.

This is probably going to need a sizable step forward from him to be a player. But he’s an interesting player with some place claims we feel.

Race Favourite

The 11/4 favourite for this trip is COTTON END* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 19:10 GMT on Saturday, October 31st 2020). She is currently sitting on a hat trick so will be expected to make another good impression.

The most recent of her scores happened here at Hereford just last month. That was the third score of the seasons for COTTON END.

That last score was by a margin of 14l and she is just in tremendous heart at the moment.

There still looks to be plenty of room for Cotton End in the handicapping to go and she is going to be a tough one to beat.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

FAIR KATE is a low mileage mare, and she is coming back to action for the first time this season on a workable mark.

The last time that Fair Kate was seen was in March when she was runner up in a Taunton hurdle. If she is sharp we would expect her to enter calculations.

The other selection for the shorts lots in this mares handicap hurdle is FULL OF SURPRISES. She hasn’t been seen since March at Cheltenham.

So she is another that is coming back from a sizable absence. But Full Of Suprises won last season at 2m on soft ground. She was poor on her last trip, but warrants a look.

We only have a small field to look at in this one. The favourite is LOXLEY at 7/4* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 19:10 GMT on Saturday, October 31st 2020).

He will be making a return to this fixture after scoring a second place finish in last year’s renewal.

Back in March, he took a big stride in winning a Grade 2 contest in Dubai. He didn’t have anything left in him on a return to BRitain however.

Loxley was last seen at Newmarket as the 11/4 FAV but after going boldly, just had nothing in the tank and finished sixth.

Could be sharp refreshed and easily warrants a look considering his second in this last year.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

KIRSTENBOSCH is the other obvious pick in this race. She was entered in the September Stakes and followed Enable home in that one.

Even though she was nowhere near the winner (7l), it was a high quality field that she kept behind her.

So on the back of that, we would expect her to be right there in the frame in this one.

We think she’s worth a poke at 15/8* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 19:10 GMT on Saturday, October 31st 2020)

It’s a bit of a struggle to get to the rest of the field. ALOUNAK has seen form fall away this season a little bit.

PALAVECINO was going well before getting everything wrong in the Darley Stakes at Newmarket on his last run. He is though, coming up on a trip.

TRIBAL CRAFT is the lowest rated runner in this field and will likely have too much to find.

SKY DEFENDER is the current 9/4 favourite for this Kempton handicap* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 19:10 GMT on Saturday, October 31st 2020).

He has knocked on the door on his last two runs, the most recent of which was a month ago. That was over in Germany in a Group 3 contest and Sky Defender was staying on well in it.

His current form suggests that in this small field, he is not going to be far away. He will be booking to turn the tables on Lucander who beat him at the Ebor meeting

UK Racing Odds & Tips

LUCANDER is an obvious threat having already gotten the better of Sky Defender this season at York.

He followed that up with another fantastic run to take second place at Newmarket in the Cambridgeshire in a field of 27.

The latest effort that he had was in the Darley Stakes, which was a tough one for him as he finished down the field. But Lucander is good enough to get in the mix and go toe to toe with Sky Defender again.

We think it is going to be on the aforementioned two. But VICTORY CHIME could have a say in this with the visor on.

He scored well at Pontefract 39 days ago to hit top form for the season. Another factor helping his case is that Victory Chime is a former course and distance winner as well.

More will be needed as he comes up another 6lb, but can have a say

She has taken three straight runners up places now, so most likely she won’t be far away.

Image Of The Moon is a good filly and was last seen 65 days ago, coming home second in a Newmarket handicap. She gets a tongue strap back on to help out.

It has been a frustrating time of things with those near misses. Image Of The Moon is a dual course winner.

ARABIAN ROMANCE looks to have some promise in this fixture as she has been well treated. This is just the fifth appearance for her and she is still a maiden.

There have been two second place finishes for her so far. After a below par run last time out over course and distance a month ago, she gets the visor on.

Arabian Romance is a very interesting selection from 11/2* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 19:10 GMT on Saturday, October 31st 2020).

VIOLA will be the other pick to put on the shortlist for this fillies’ handicap. She was a winner at Lingfield in her penultimate race, which was over 12f.

She didn’t follow that form up when she was last seen at Nottingham. However, the conditions were slow there and she never looked to properly get into her stride. More will be expected of her on her return.
