POWER OF STATES is the 7/2 favourite for the opening race of UK Racing preview for Monday* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 23:37 GMT on Sunday, 9th August 2020). That is despite him looking for his first win since 2018.

But having fallen down the weights to where he is, Power Of States is on a good mark now. He did struggle a little bit last time out, which was at Chester a month ago. He didn’t have things go his way in that one though. But he looks as if he can be taken on.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

To us, QUEMONDA looks a little bit more of a genuine threat and has a 7lb claimer on her back. She has won two of her three races since coming back to action and has taken on a new lease of life for her new yard.

Her latest win was on her last run a month ago at the 10f trip on all-weather. She has gone up 6lb for that score, but the way that she finished for that win at Lingfield was impressive as she has plenty of pace and running in her.

The other pick for this race is going to ASHAZURI who is a former course and distance winner. Her last run was three weeks ago when she claimed a third-place finish at Windsor at 10f. That was a stiffer challenge than this one will be. She should be a player in the field.

This is the Edinburgh Gin Handicap Hurdle, which is a Northern Lights Stayers Hurdle Series qualifier. Heading up the market for the fixture is HEAVEY at 7/4 odds* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 23:37 GMT on Sunday, 9th August 2020).

He has taken a couple of hurdle races in his career and was well on course to strike up another on his most recent effort. That was at Fontwell just 10 days ago, but he fell a couple from home after a slip. HEAVEY stays at the same mark and brings leading claims once again.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

PETITE GANACHE scored a great win at Musselburgh in January and then on his reappearance a month ago, he rumbled home to a third place finish over course and distance. That was a solid enough effort to expect him to be back in contention for this one. He is also staying at the same mark too.

THE DISTANT LADY will be our other pick of the day for this contest. She looked as if she was in need of a bit of a break and has been away for 39 days.

She was third at Southwell in July on her last trip, which was on a quick turnaround. So The Distant Lady should come back into things as a leading contender as this is her first run since wind surgery too.

15:20 Leicester UK Racing Odds & Tips

It is SANSEVERO who is the 7/2 market leader for this trip to Leicester on Monday* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 23:37 GMT on Sunday, 9th August 2020). This will be just the third racetrack appearance for the youngster so he is unexposed.

He did score on his debut and then followed up with a second place finish in a minor contest at Haydock a month ago. He is coming into his handicap debut and should be offered a little more for his new yard. Sansevero should be fresh, fit and raring to go

UK Racing Odds & Tips

Another player in this field is SHADY MCCOY who has scored on two of his three runs since coming back into action. The experienced runner has taken on a 4lb penalty for his recent win which was a Sandown Handicap. It was the best run of the season so far for him and the 10-year-old can’t be ignored.

IRREVERENT is worth watching in the market as well after a very good run last time out. He battled along for a place finish in a Haydock handicap over the 7f trip a month ago. There is a good chance that he can find more and has a 5lb claimer for the trip as well. Irreverent looks well handicapped and a threat.

16:25 Leicester UK Racing Odds & Tips

Race Favourite

For this short field, the race favourite is TIS MARVELLOUS at 2/1* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 23:37 GMT on Sunday, 9th August 2020). He was last seen at the Hackwood Stakes where he struggled to get his game together.

What could boost his fortunes for a positive return is that his yard is in good form. If he can reproduce the form that he showed on his fourth place in the King’s Stand at Ascot (arguably his best racetrack), then he could push for the win and he looks more suited to 5f than 6.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

AL RAYA is likely to be a player here, and is worth reflecting on after a 7th at the King George Stakes. That was his last run and that was such a tough contest and a big ask for him.

But he wasn’t totally disgraced. Al Raya is looking for his first win of the campaign and just back in July he claimed a runner-up spot in a Listed fixture. He will be our pick at 9/4 odds* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 23:37 GMT on Sunday, 9th August 2020).

BLUE DE VEGA is the one with all of the winning form. He completed a hattrick a couple of weeks ago with a score at Sandown (5f). He has really been powering along lately and while he has a lot more on his plate in this fixture, form alone makes him an interesting player in the contest.

16:30 Windsor Handicap UK Racing Odds & Tips

Race Favourite

SPOOF is the 5/2 outright favourite for this contest * (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 23:37 GMT on Sunday, 9th August 2020). He is sitting on a hattrick and the first of those scores was at course and distance.

The second was just over two weeks ago in a 5f trip at Sandown. Now would be the time to back him with his form having peaked, because outside of that, he’s generally on the unreliable side. Can he nail that hattrick?

UK Racing Odds & Tips

DASCHAS is likely to be a big player in this field who did finish ahead of Spoof when claiming second place here at Windsor on his penultimate race. So he likes the track and is a former course and distance winner too. His last trip, a poor 9th of 10 on a 5f trip under these conditions will be a concern.

Another course and distance winner is FREE LOVE who goes with a 3lb claimer. It’s been a dozen appearances since she last picked up a win but is back down in grade here. She was last seen at York almost three weeks ago where she never had a clear run. There’s no reason why she shouldn’t be competitive in this.

Race Favourite

At the time of writing, we have 3/1 joint favourites in CRAIGMORE and COUP DE PINCEAU* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 23:37 GMT on Sunday, 9th August 2020).

CRAIGMOR makes a return to chasing and that is on the back of claiming a win in a handicap hurdle at Market Rasen in July. That was achieved after more than a year away from that game as well. The follow up was a second at Perth, so he should be right in the frame.

COUP DE PINCEAU has the quality to compete here as he is a useful chase. He may be that much better for a reappearance run for trainer Paul Nicholls at Market Rasen 7 weeks ago. He looks like he needs it and is used to being lightly worked.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

BAFANA BLUE has the quality as well if he can find a hot step after a 274-day absence. He was in superb form last season winning four of his final six races of the campaign. If he is match fit then he is easily a big player for this race.

As an outside chancer, THE BOOLA BEE is worth a look based on the current form. She is up a grade and up 6lb on the back of two wins from two runs since returning. She will have her rise wiped out by a 7lb claimer but is going to need something out of her top drawer for this.
