After the big British Champions Day of racing on Saturday, our attention turns to Sunday’s UK racing odds, tips & preview feature.

We will be scouring the cards at Kempton, Ffos Las and Sedgefield to bring you our best racing tips.

We have DARLING MALTAIX at the head of the market for this handicap chase at Kempton at 9/4* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 23:37 GMT on Saturday, 17th October 2020).

He is on top of his game at the moment and needs to be respected.

It has been two wins in his last three efforts over the fences. Darling Maltaix will be facing some stiffer competition in this one, but the seven year old is in great form.

Conditions are in his favour and in his last run, he won by 53 lengths in a three-runner contest. We can’t look past him in this contest, so he makes it as our pick.

JABOTICABA is likely to be in the frame for this contest. The conditions will bring the best out of him.

He was in great shape recently on a return from break at Warwick. Jaboticaba bagged the win there.

Last season he took three runner up finishes from five attempts over the fences. He’s one for the shortlist.

LEAPAWAY needs to be respected as well coming into a handicap fixture. He scored in a novice trip at Hexham last month and he is progressing over the fences.

There should be better to come from him. The assessor has been wary of him as Leapaway has gone 7lb from that Hexham score.

Race Favourite

Heading up the market currently for this race is SCEAU ROYAL at 9/2* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 23:37 GMT on Saturday, 17th October 2020).

But this is a tight market because we are in store for what looks to be a very competitive renewal.

This will be his reappearance run and the first since a wind operation as well.

He was a good performer in the chasing sphere so should be relatively comfortable back over the smaller stuff. It has been seven months that he has been away, but a very interesting contender.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

MILKWOOD warrants a look for the shortlist as well. Back at the start of the month he collected a course and distance success.

That was in a less-competitive fixture than this one, but still, the C&D score does make him a threat. Even if it was in a minor event.

He is progressing in a good manner and this will be his first run since wind surgery.

THEBANNERKINGREBEL will be the other runner that we will look to put on the shortlist. He was very good through bumper action.

Last season he made the switch to the hurdles and made a very good impression there as well. It was three hurdles wins for him last season.

On his last effort of the previous campaign he failed to perform in the Betfair Hurdle. He’s another that makes a return following wind surgery too.

There is enough for there with him at 6/1 to be our selection* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 23:37 GMT on Saturday, 17th October 2020).

We will just throw one more name into that. That will be the unexposed BUZZ. He won his first two trips of the last campaign, but then found himself as a beaten favourite at the Dovecote on his last trip.

Buzz was heading in the right direction though and will have some place claims if back refreshed and sharp.

Race Favourite

The race favourite in this small field is VERDANA BLUE at 8/13* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 23:37 GMT on Saturday, 17th October 2020).

She only had the one run last season, which was a fourth place finish in the Christmas Hurdle after having shaped well.

The last run that she had was at the Ebor eight weeks ago on the flat. Verdana Blue claimed a third place finish there.

It wouldn’t be a surprise to see the accomplished mare get close to a win on Sunday as she comes back to jumps action. In has been three wins in her last six goes over the jumps.

Further making her claims is that she won this fixture in 2018 and the conditions will bring the best out of her.

Given that she did put together a strong flat campaign, back over the timber she is likely going to be tough to knock down and goes as our pick.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

Last year’s winner of this race was SILVER STREAK. The seven year old is probably the biggest genuine threat to Verdana Blue in this one.

He picked up the win twelve months ago as well. His jumping will be a little in question after a poor performance last time out. He wasn’t very fluent at the Champion Hurdle on his last run, taking sixth place.

The other one that we will have to put on the shortlist in this small field is DIEGO DE CHARMIL.

It has been a win followed by two second-place finishes in his last three efforts over the jumps.

He was last seen in action in Kempton in February, taking second place here at kempton. Diego De Charmil goes between timber and fences easily enough and should be in the picture.

Race Favourite

This is a big test of stamina for Sunday for this challenge handicap chase. It id DUC DE GRISSAY who is the 9/2 favourite for the contest* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 23:37 GMT on Saturday, 17th October 2020).

He had his first run over the fences at Catterick towards the end of February and he put in a pretty decent show there to claim third place.

On his novice handicap debut over the fences in his next race, he went better to score at Kelso.

So he seems to be handling himself well in this sphere and he is a horse that delivers good consistency.

The extra trip that he is going to be taking on Sunday could bring even more out of him. He is the pick just ahead of the in-form Doing Fine.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

DOING FINE is the other leading contender for this action. The 12 year old still has plenty of life left in him as he has won three of his last five efforts.

The most recent of those was in August at Uttoxeter.

The thing that is going to be working against him is such a high mark for the trip. He will have the cheek pieces on.

We would consider DANDY DAN for the shortlist as well. He has not had a run since Cheltneham in December where he didn’t finish the race.

He wasn’t jumping well at all before unseating hishockey. When he came back refreshed last season he recorded a good second place finish at Kelo. Dandy Dan did win a few in his novice campaign and this is his first run since wind surgery.

RIVER FROST is the narrow market leader for this race at 4/1* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 23:37 GMT on Saturday, 17th October 2020).

He picked up a very good win on his last effort, which was at this very track.

That was 52 days ago and that seriously puts him in the frame for this one. He does have a 3lb claimer on his back and he is at the same mark as well.

It’s likely that River Frost is going to be a big player in the fixture.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

CAPONE is one of the other leading contenders for this one. He had plenty of support on his last trip, in which he produced a score at Uttoxeter three weeks ago.

That was some of the best jumping that has been seen from him. A tongue strap also appeared to have a huge impact on him.

Capone gets a 5lb rise in this one, which doesn’t seem harsh, so he is our pick for the race from 9/2* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 23:37 GMT on Saturday, 17th October 2020).

Another one for the shortlist at Sedgefield is going to be MELODY OF SCOTLAND, who has produced plenty of consistency recently.

The mare has taken a third place finish in her last two efforts. So it seems to really be going in the right direction at the moment.

She stays on an unchanged mark and has a good chance on Sunday.

This is a big field so we can call on one more name. That will be RAKHINE STATE who because of having had a reappearance run under his belt.

He was at Stratford in August after 10 months off. He took a good second place from a field of seven in that one, a handicap hurdle.

Rakshine State won three times over the hurdles for Gordon Elliot.
