Race Favourite

HAPPY ROMANCE is the 5/2 favourite for the opening race of our Thursday UK Racing preview* (betting odds taken from Betvictor at 23:09 GMT on Wednesday, 2nd September 2020).

She looks the pick of the bunch with some hot form under her belt recently. She looks as if she can handle this Group 3 step up.

It has been back to back wins for Happy Romance at Newbury and York.

It has been three wins in her last four trips now and connections have in her superb shape at the mark.

There are definite claims here at this level. Trainer Richard Hannon has won two of the last three editions of this race.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

TIME SCALE is likely to be well supported in this contest as well and has Oisin Murphy booked for the ride.

She just missed out on a hattrick on her last effort as she was edged out by less than a length in a Group 2 fixture at Newmarket in June.

It was a fourth-place finish for her there. Time Scale is easily one for the shortlist.

The last pick for this race will be ALCOHOL FREE who showed a lot of promise on her debut. She got the score at Newbury over a 6f trip three weeks ago.

She shaped very well in that and looked composed. So we expect her to bring more to the table in this one on a step up in class.

Race Favourite

The race favourite for this small field is WITHOUT A FIGHT at 1/2* (betting odds taken from Betvictor at 23:09 GMT on Wednesday, 2nd September 2020). He is sitting on a hat-trick and the youngster has looked stacked with potential.

Those two wins under his belt were delivered at Redcar and Newbury in novice contests. Without A Fight comes into his handicap debut at a low mark and should be a serious player here if he continues his forward progress.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

TRIBAL CRAFT is one to watch in the market as she is taking a drop back in class. She was looking sharp on her return to action this year, including taking a win at Newbury.

But last time out she was bumped up to a Listed contest and just didn’t look fit for that. But coming back down she has to be a much bigger threat in this sphere for trainer Andrew Balding.

HOCHFELD has a 5lb claimer on his back for this one. In his penultimate run, she was on show at Glorious Goodwood where he scored a fantastic handicap win in holding Shailene at arm’s length.

Hochfeld has taken a drop in the weights and while a following run at the Ebor was competitive, but never enough to get in touch, he could make his presence felt in this small field.

Race Favourite

There is a big chase effort coming up from Southwell Thursday evening and the favourite for it is CLASSIC ESCAPE at 9/4* (betting odds taken from Betvictor at 23:09 GMT on Wednesday, 2nd September 2020).

He has started in some strong form having been in the frame in both of his contests since reappearance.

Classic Escape has won over the hurdles before, but he did look below that form when he took on his first chase effort in August.

But he still took third in that fixture so this now is going to be about what potential he has in him. Classic Escape stays with the headgear.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

Not too many with the great form are coming into this one. LOUGH SALT has some place claims as he is a pretty steady runner.

On his reappearance, he scored second-place finish over course and distance and then followed up with a third at Cartmel. Lough Salt goes with a 3lb claimer and can get back in the frame.

MRS MIGGINS may be worth another look after a fall at Newton Abbot in August. That was on her chase debut but it was also her reappearance run.

She was on course for a third place finish in that race before the tunnel. That was her first effort after wind surgery and there were promising signs at least after having struggled last season.

Race Favourite

PROPER TICKET is the 5/2 favourite for this Mares’ Handicap Hurdle* (betting odds taken from Betvictor at 23:09 GMT on Wednesday, 2nd September 2020).

She is making her return to action after a 171-day absence from the track.

The last run that she had, she made her handicap debut and collected a win on that debut. She has the staying power in her without question, as she’s proven that over hurdles before.

It’s likely Proper Ticket is going to be a big player in this contest.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

BANNIXTOWN GLORY is a good bold runner who picked up a win on her last trip. That success was at Bangor in a field of nine, five weeks ago.

She just took the race by the scruff of the neck and went with it. She has an even chance of further franking that form with another bold showing and needs to be considered for the shortlist.

HOTTER THAN HELL looks to be the other to really keep a market-ey on for this trip. She was last in action in February when she took a second place finish on her handicap debut.

There was a win on her handicap hurdle debut last year and although she is back after a break of 211 days, still looks a threat in this company.

Race Favourite

BIG PENNY is a narrow 4/1 favourite for this contest* (betting odds taken from Betvictor at 23:09 GMT on Wednesday, 2nd September 2020). It’s another of the big 3m tests for the day. There was a lot of promise shown by Big Penny on her last trip.

After not having run for 11 months, she claimed a second-place finish over course and distance just five weeks ago.

That was on her first effort for her new yard and if she follows up anywhere near that kind of form, then the claims will be there.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

DAMMIT I’M OUT could be worth another consideration after he failed to complete his last trip.

An excuse could be made for that because it was a quick turn around, happening only six days after a great score in a handicap chase at Bangor.

He was a hurdle winner last year and Damut I’m Out also has a 3lb claimer.

We are a little torn over where to go for our final pick for this contest. We are just going to swing with JAC BROWN because he has at least had some decent, if not spectacular, recent action.

He was fifth at Southwell on his last run, not quite getting up to his best. But taking on extra in trip would suit him.
