We get some chase action to open our Tuesday racing preview with.

This is a small field and DARLAC is the 13/8 favourite for the victory* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 23:37 GMT on Sunday, 9th August 2020).

How much will punters trust him? He has been a faller in three of his seven starts over the fences.

That was the outcome in his most recent effort at Newton Abbot in September. He was in the frame before the fall, which was three from home. Darlac has a lot to prove.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

Our pick for this race is DIOMEDE DES MOTTES who was a dual winner over the hurdles. He made his debut over the fences last time out in a novice chase last month.

He actually went pretty well there, so there is a promise of more to come.

Despite finishing 4th of 5 there, Diomede Des Mottes warrants some respect at 15/8* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 23:37 GMT on Sunday, 9th August 2020).

The other nomination for the shortlist would be SALTY BOY. He will be making his reappearance run in this one.

Salty Boy got some valuable chase reaction under his belt at the back end of last season and seemed to be progressing well. He will go for his new yard for the first time in this one.

Race Favourite

Another small field for Hereford action on Tuesday. DAME DU SOIR is the current market leader at 15/8* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 23:37 GMT on Sunday, 9th August 2020).

This will be her reappearance run. The last action that she had was when she was a faller at Ludlow.

But she was forging powerfully in that race before taking a tumble.

There is a bit of track record here, as Dame Du Soir scored at Hereford in January before following up with a good third at Sedgefield.

She has come back refreshed before and done very well, so the long break wouldn’t deter us from making her our pick.

FIELD EXHIBITION will have to be considered for the shortlist as well with a 5lb claimer. She was last year’s winner of this race and she is at the same mark as that.

It has been three runs from her in this campaign and only the last two have been completed. Neither have been great performances, but back to the scene of a huge positive last year may lift here.

OSCAR ROSE is one that is actually showing a nice bit of form. She has taken a second place and a third place finish in her last two efforts.

The latter was at this mark in a 20f Uttoxeter contest and that’s two very promising attempts at the fences. She’s one to keep onside.

Heading up the market for this one is FLOATING ROCK at 10/3* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 23:37 GMT on Sunday, 9th August 2020).

It has been a good season for him. He returned with a third place finish and then went better on his next.

He collected a win over the hurdles in a Fontwell novice event a month ago.

So on the back of that and now under handicapping terms, Floating Rock should be a contender. This is his first run since wind surgery as well.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

We are leaning towards FIRST QUEST however who makes a return after a long absence. He was a faller at Kempton in his last race.

That fall came at the last and had he landed it, he would have been clear. So that was a decent debut from him.

First Quest is notably at the same mark as he was for that last effort and refreshed, could contend.

EYE OF AN EAGLE is going to be our selection for this race at 10/1* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 23:37 GMT on Sunday, 9th August 2020).

He will be under handicapping for the first time, but he has had some recent action.

On his return in August he took third at Fontwell on a reappearance and the drop in trip after a lower-key effort at Newton Abbot could help.

ASCENSION is heading up this field as the current 11/8 favourite* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 23:37 GMT on Sunday, 9th August 2020).

He is sitting on a hattrick as he comes back to play, so there are no concerns over his form.

There actually looks to be plenty to come from him still after scoring twice in four runs this season. His last score was three weeks ago at Ayr in a field of eight.

He looks to be a major player here with stamina in mind and even though he has been hit by the handicapper again, he is likely to be too good for this field.

In his penultimate race, COLD STARE collectd a win in a 7f effort at Goodwood, keeping Magical Wish behind him.

He has had one trip since then, which was at the Ayr Gold Cup. He wasn’t near a win in that test, but was travelling well regardless. T

here’s enough form there to hint that he could get himself in the frame.

ENDOWED is likely to enter the frame in this one. It has been decent, if not speculator, form from him recently.

He finished in the middle of the pack in a 12-runner field at Chester on his last run. That was a month ago, but shaped well. Place claims are likely to be there as the competition isn’t that deep.

WASDELL DUNDALK is the 11/4 favourite for this contest* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 23:37 GMT on Sunday, 9th August 2020).

He made his appearance this season with a fourth place finish at Fontwell.

That was a handicap debut for him as well. It was a good effort to get some wind in his lungs as he looked like he needed the trip.

That was in August. With that behind him, a better effort will be expected as he comes up in trip.

CRYSTAL LAD takes on a 3lb rise but still looks a big competitor in this one. He scored a recent course and distance win on what was his reappearance run.

So we would be happy to throw more support his way. Crystal Lad is facing a tougher race in this one, but with a strong return to form last time out, well warrants some respect.

NOBEL JOSHUA is the other player that we will have for the shortlist in this oncest. On his last effort, which was in September, he picked up a victory at Clonmel.

He has since moved from Gordon Elliot to David Pipe. Nobel Joshua has a 7lb claimer and will be pushed a lot harder in a deeper race to make it back to back wins.
