The day’s racing action comes from Kempton, Ripon and Newton Abbot, with a couple of interesting handicap chases coming from the latter

This is Race 3 from Ripon on Tuesday and it is the City Of Ripon Handicap.

For the race we have OLYMPIC CONQUEROR as the market leader at 11/4* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 01:12 GMT on Tuesday, 1st September 2020).

He hit the track running by winning his first two races back on his return.

On his last run he was seventh of 13 at Chester in a handicap fixture three weeks ago over a 10f trip. He was struggling at the finish there to find any kind of speed to get a better spot.

He was disgraced overall however and may be back in the picture.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

DAAFR is likely going to be lining up as a big contender in this fixture after some strong recent form for trainer Antony Brittain.

In total he has bagged three wins from his ten racetrack appearances so far.

His last run was at Wolverhampton a couple of weeks ago when he battled to collect a runner-up spot.

If you throw on top a win at Haydock in August then he is one that is bringing some better form to the table.

DELPH CRESCENT is going to be on a competitive mark in this one. It is an eleven-run streak without a win now, but there was a very good effort from him last time out when he finished in the middle of the pack at Catterick in a field of fourteen.

That was a couple of weeks ago and he got his gameplan wrong by going too hard too soon. He has top jockey Silvestre De Sousa booked.

Race Favourite

This is an interesting race and the current 7/2 Favourite is CLOG MAKER* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 01:12 GMT on Tuesday, 1st September 2020). He is an unexposed colt but is a previous course winner.

It has been two wins from two fixtures that he has undertaken this year and he is coming into his handicap debut here, which means he should offer more.

Clog Maker is coming back from a six-month absence, and he should be right there in a competitive mood.

LA MAQUINA is a former course and distance winner. His last run was over course and distance as well, six weeks ago. He ran very well there too to take second place from a 25/1 SP.

That was in a field of 12 and he handled the circumstances very well so he makes a very good fit for his return.

DELILAH PARK looks a good fit for this fixture after having won two of three trips this year. She has claimed four wins in her career from seven course and distance trips. So it is hard to ignore her presence in this field.

Two weeks ago she was out over course and distance and put in what was arguably a career best effort to claim the score. She is going up 7lb now, but looks to be in the form of her life at the moment and should be a major player.

The market leader for this sprint at Kempton is BREATH OF JOY at 4/1* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 01:12 GMT on Tuesday, 1st September 2020).

There has been cracking form from her this season, scoring in two of three runs since reappearance.

She was right on top of his game on her last trip, scoring at Pontefract over a 6f trip 18 days ago. Because of the form that she has laid down she is taking on an extra 7lb now, but still off a nice workable mark here.

There is still plenty to come from her under sprinting conditions and the filly looks as if she has every chance of the world in getting another win.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

FULL AUTHORITY should be in the frame having had a reappearance run under his belt recently. That was just his third racetrack appearance and he claimed third place in a novice fixture at Doncaster.

Full Authority gets a tongue strap for his handicap debut and should be sharper for that effort 18 days ago.

NIGEL NOTT stays at the same mark as when he scored third place in a field of 10 over course and distance two weeks ago.

He has shown tremendous consistency this season, opening with back to back wins. He has some good place claims here if he keeps that strong form ticking over.

This is a competitive field here and we have joint 5/2 favourites in I’M HERE and FACT OF THE MATTER* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 01:12 GMT on Tuesday, 1st September 2020).

I’M HERE put in a career-best effort last time out when he scored a second place on his first trip over the Hurdles. That was out at Southwell in July. He is lightly raced and this is a much tougher test for him.

FACT OF THE MATTER has been away for 246 days. He hasn’t been over the hurdles for a lot longer than that, it’s actually been a couple of years. This will be the first run from him since wind surgery and needs to show more after a really poor 2019.

GLANVILLES GUEST looks like a key player in his contest. She is a former course and distance winner which is a big mark for her.

Glanvilles Guest had her reappearance with a fourth-place at Stratford after a 10-month absence, and will be sharper for that. She won a couple of times under handicap terms last year.

STORY OF FRIENDS may be worth keeping an eye on in the market. He had a decent trip last time out when he claimed 5th at Uttoxeter.

He is 2lb down from that as he takes on a longer trip. This may just be in his wheelhouse and there are claims here with others not in great form.

DELL’ ARCA is the race favourite for this contest at 3/1* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 01:12 GMT on Tuesday, 1st September 2020). He came back into a bit of form last time out when he claimed a third-place finish at Uttoxeter.

He is still sitting on a good, competitive mark and should have every chance of getting near a score based on that effort.

This is not the strongest of fields that he is up against and given that was his first go at the fences for a while, he checks some boxes.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

CAPTAIN BUCK’S carried on some good form that he showed at the end of the last campaign, since his renewal. He actually picked up a score on his return to action for trainer Paul Nicholls.

Captain Buck’s has a 7lb claimer on his here as well and looks to be one of the leading contenders, even though he found the going tough at Cartmel last time out on a revised mark.

MR MAFIA is one to potentially keep on side for the shortlist here as well. He scored a course and distance win last year, one of three victories that he took in 2019.

A good second place at Southwell recently, where he was well clear of the rest gives him a good chance at pulling this one off.

The current market leader for this contest is NINEOHTWOONEOH at 2/1* (betting odds taken from William Hill at 01:12 GMT on Tuesday, 1st September 2020).

He scored on his reappearance, which was also his first trip over the fences. That was at Southwell in July.

He had a penalty slapped on him for a subsequent trip and badly struggled because of that. He gets the tongue strap back on but needs to prove himself a bit in this one for trainer Colin Tizzard.

BLUE N YELLOW looks to be a good option to make a bold run at this. He seemed to be heading in the right direction last time out when he claimed a second-place at Southwell last time out.

Blue N Yellow was helped out by others not completing that race. He’s not been the greatest over the fences, but he stays at the same mark.

MINE’S A PINT is going to be the other pick that we will select for this handicap chase, which looks a little weak.

He faded away during the winter, but looked refreshed on his reappearance at Uttoxeter this year. It looked like he needed that run and off a workable mark, he has some decent place claims.
