Heading up the field for the Haldon Gold Cup is GREANETEEN at 2/1* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 23:14 GMT on Monday, 3rd October 2020).

It was some rapid, impressive progress that the French runner made over the fences last season.

He won all three stars on the switch before going to the Cheltenham Festival. At the Festival he was in the Grand Annual and took an excellent fourth place there.

There surely has to be more progress still to come from him.

Greanteen, trained by Paul Nicholls looks a pretty solid fit to be mixing it up in Graded company. This is his first run since March and if he picks up where he left off, he’s going to be tough to stop.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

ESPRIT DU LARGE was nowhere near his top level when he showed up in the Arkle at Cheltenham this year. But that doesn’t mean he should be written off.

He is a former Grade 1 winner, getting a score at the grade at Sandown before he went to Cheltenham. Esprit Du Large is unexposed over the fences, but warrants a look here.

The other name for the shortlist is GLOBAL CITIZEN. He also was last seen at the Cheltenham Festival.

He was in the Arkle and fought well with a good temperament to take fourth place finish. In his race before that, his second over the fences, he collected a Grade 2 win at Kempton.

The threat of Global Citizen is not to be taken lightly.

JUMP THE GUN is the 10/3 favourite for the contest* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 23:14 GMT on Monday, 3rd October 2020). It was his last race, the effort he produced at Doncaster which puts him in the frame in this one.

Jump The Gun collected an excellent third place in that Doncaster run, in a field of 14 from a big SP of 16/1.

So he needs to be respected if he gets anywhere near that kind of output again. He will be looking to turn the tables on Bobby Shaft and Ugo Gregory who were both ahead of him that Dconaster trip.

It’s going to be a competitive scrap as they all meet again.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

UGO GREGORY has been in terrific form this season. He will again carry a threat in this one. He was second last time out to Bobby Shaft in that Doncaster handicap we mentioned above.

That was only 10 days ago and was in soft conditions. The last win that he took was just last month at Ayr, completing a double.

The other that to then bring some leading claims is BOBBY SHAFT who has taken two wins in his last three. The recent win was in that field of 14 at Doncaster.

It was a victory by less than a length from Ugo Gregory. That was his career best.

Bobby Shaft takes on 3lb extra in the rating. But we think he can get the best of everyone again as a 9/2 option* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 23:14 GMT on Monday, 3rd October 2020).

It is a big field so we can take on more for the shortlist. That will have to SONG OF THE ISLES. She has won her last two so has found a bit of form.

This is a much stronger test of ability though. But the filly is heading in the right direction and could feature for a run at the places.

14:55 Exeter Novices’ Chase UK Racing Odds & Tips

Enrilo 4/9
Red River 6/1
Present Value 6/1
Darlac 7/1
Enry Iggins 66/1

Race Favourite

The race race favourite is ENRILO at 4/9* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 23:14 GMT on Monday, 3rd October 2020).

He has had a reappearance run under his belt, which will help with his overall sharpness. He was a beaten favourite at Chepstow last month on a 3m trip.

Enrilo only found one too good on that one, which was his chasing debut as well. He is now 5lb better off in the weights.

In that Chepstow fixture Enrilo was beaten by The Mighty Don, who was due to run in this one. But he has been declared a non-runner, paving the way for Enriolo to score perhaps.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

PRESENT VALUE makes his seasonal reappearance in his fixture and he was looking good as he went over the fences in the last campaign.

He claimed a second place on his first go at the big stuff before following up with a fourth. He was a faller on his last effort though as his jumping form just totally deserted him. It’s been a 8 month absence and warrants a look.

The other we will pull into the frame is DARLAC who makes a return to novice company. He won a maiden hurdle at Fontwell, but has been a bit up and down over the fences.

On his last go at the big stuff, Darlac was second in a Hereford handicap. He could have something to offer if he’s anywhere near that.

The current 13/2 FAV is FORTESCUE* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 23:14 GMT on Monday, 3rd October 2020). After signing off last season with a double, Fortescue will be back looking to secure a hattrick.

It has been three wins from his four previous goes over the fences. The most recent of those was in March, and it was at course and distance as well. That was on tougher ground than this as well.

Fortescue is up 8lb in the ratings now and unexposed still in this sphere. But with a 5lb claimer and that C&D history, he is worth a look.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

KILLER CLOWN is worth revisiting. He unseated his rider on his chase debut. That was just last month at Uttoxeter and he didn’t do anything wrong to have that outcome.

Killer Clown is a former point winner and was getting better over the hurdles last season. He still looks like a potentially strong chaser and is worth another chance. This is his second run since wind surgery.

LE BOIZELO should enter the calculations comfortably in this fixture. He picked up a win at the end of last season. That was at Wincanton in March and was an easy win in the end as well.

That was his second win of the season. He lined up in last seasons’ Harcombe Handicap Chase and took third.

He is s good solid contender and we like the 10/1 on him* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 23:14 GMT on Monday, 3rd October 2020).

TRONADA Is heading up the market in this one at 3/1* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 23:14 GMT on Monday, 3rd October 2020). This will be her handicap debut here as she tries to make an impression over the hurdles.

She is unexposed in this sphere. Tronada will be making the switch back from the flat after having a fairly good time there during this campaign.

She was last seen in the middle of October taking a second place finish in a Bath handicap.

So she brings good form from the flat and there should be more to come over the hurdles. She is well treated on a fair mark for this run.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

AGENT VALDEZ was last seen at Huntingdon in March and she took a second place finish in that contest. She looked to have really benefited from wind surgery and a tongue strap in that one.

She should be better for the experience after that career-best effort. Place claims should be there from Agent Valdez.

AIRGEAD SAUS stays at the same mark as she was for her last trip. Just three weeks ago she took fourth place from a field of 14.

That was in a Hereford handicap hurdle. She has taken to the hurdles quite well and is worth watching in this one. The extra bit in the trip will suit her as well.

We like her as our pick at 9/2* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 23:14 GMT on Monday, 3rd October 2020).

16:33 Southwell Maiden Stakes Handicap UK Racing Odds & Tips

Harmonious 4/5

HARMONIOUS is the 4/5 market leader for this maiden stakes* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 23:14 GMT on Monday, 3rd October 2020).

It was a second place finish that he took on his last trip and that was over course and distance.

That effort came just a week ago and so has to enter calculations once again. Harmonious, who is a good consistent performer, has Oisin Murphy booked for the contest as well.

UK Racing Odds & Tips

MIA DOLAN looks to have plenty more to offer. This will be her third racetrack appearance. She claimed a third on her debut and followed up with a below par trip at Windsor.

She came home 8th of 13 in a maiden over a mile three weeks ago. She looks better than that, however.

The final pick will be IMPERIAL SQUARE who will be making his sapanca. From his three races, he has been steady, but there has to be more on offer.

Last time out he was well down the field of 10 at Wolverhampton in a novice run a year ago. He goes for his new yard for the first time.
