Race Favourite

The market leader for this one is COME DANCING at 7/4* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 20:59 GMT on Tuesday, 7th April 2020).

She had a recent appearance in April which didn’t go great, as she finished fourth from last at Oaklawn Park.

Come Dancing is now with a new stable for the first time. She has collected eight wins from 6f to 1m so has a strong record.

She has won three of her last six trips, the most recent of which was in September. The recent run may have sharpened her back up and has some appeal.

Tips

But we feel that the favourite is worth opposing in this contest. We would look at ROYAL CHARLOTTE to do just that.

She took second place in The Harmony Lodge at Belmont earlier this month and stepping into this Grade 3 fixture, she looks a threat at 4/1* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 20:59 GMT on Tuesday, 7th April 2020).

She had Mother Mother behind her in that one. Royal Charlotte has only been out of the top two twice in her last six runs, scoring three times in that.

In total she has stacked up five race wins at the 6f distance. She has some serious claims.

Will there be a big challenge coming in from CHALON. She is refreshed as she is coming back from a 266 day absence.

There were some good performances from the 6 year old last year and before going into her break she was fourth in a Grade 2 Fillies’ Contest.

Race Favourite

This is the New York Stakes, a Grade 2 contest at Belmont Park for Saturday. This looks as if it could be a good one with the winner taking $157,500 away with them.

It is CALL ME LOVE at the head of the market at a current 13/8 price* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 20:59 GMT on Tuesday, 7th April 2020).

She had a recent effort earlier this month as she took a runner up place on a 1m trip at the venue.

That was her reappearance after going into a break having scored back to back wins.

Both Of those wins happened at 1m 2f so she has the distance finely tuned in. She has to be kept on side for this one.

Tips

Leading the charge as the main containers is MRS SIPPY. Interestingly she was put into the Breeders’ Cup Filly And Mare Turf contest at Santa Anita in November.

That was over the 1m 2f distance. Even though connections trusted her enough, Mrs Sippy took 9th place in the field of 12 in that.

But she went the course and distance at Belmont in October and took a second place finish.

The big thing about her chances here is that it is a massive drop down in class that she is making here.

She could be a key player and has to be respected at 10/3* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 20:59 GMT on Tuesday, 7th April 2020).

The other runner that we will throw some focus on, will be MEAN MARY. She secured a hattrick on an appearance at Gulfstream back at the end of March.

She has proven that she has the distance in her. Mean Mary has been away from the track for three months, but is super progressive and gets top jockey Luis Saez booked.

Race Favourite

Heading up the market for this contest is the very positively named PROMISES FULFILLED. He has been away from the track since October last year.

His form tailed off at the end of that campaign, but he has so much top class experience he has to be respected without question.

The 5 year old is generally in the mix of things and the last win that he took was on a 7f trip at Belmont last July at the John A. Nerud Stakes.

Just the fact that Promises Fulfilled is so used to scrapping it out in big races, he is likely to get close to a good score in this one from 6/4* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 20:59 GMT on Tuesday, 7th April 2020)

Tips

FIRENZE FIRE may well be the one to push the favorite the hardest in this one and not give him an easy afternoon. Just earlier this month he was up in a Grade 1 contest at Belmont Park and gave a good account of himself to come home fourth.

That saw him miss out on a four-timer but still, all things considered he is in superb form right now and hasn’t skipped a beat even on coming back from a break. He has plenty of appeal to get himself back in the winner’s circle.

There’s a lot to like about him and Firenze Fire will have a lot of support from 5/2 to take on Promises Fulfilled* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 20:59 GMT on Tuesday, 7th April 2020).

Another runner who is in great form at the moment is WICKED TRICK who needs to be considered. He has won six times from 6f to 1m. He was a beaten favourite on his last run which was at Aqueduct in March.

But before that he had strung together five straight race wins. There was nothing of this calibre of race within that winning streak however.

Wicked Trick won on his one previous visit to Belmont which was in October last year in an allowance claimer.

Because of the mention of Firenze Fire, we also need to look at MIDNIGHTCHARLY who was beaten by the former at Penn National in November.

Midnight Charity settled for second in that fixture. He wasn’t disgraced by the top-class opponent however and could make some place claims at this, a much higher level.

This is a bit of turf Grade 1 action from Belmont Park to wrap up this review. This is a cracking looking race and we have current joint favourites for it as well.

UNI and NEWSPAPEROFRECORD are joint 15/8 favourites for this contest* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 20:59 GMT on Tuesday, 7th April 2020).

The former continued her superb form when she was last seen. That was in November at the Breeders’ Cup Mile at Santa Anita over 1m.

UNI beat Got Stormy, who opposes her in this race, by one and a half lengths there. Big claims.

NEWSPAPEROFRECORD is another of the leading contenders here. She stepped up for a score just earlier this month when she got the better of Regal Glory by a big 4 length margin.

That was at Belmont Park as well over a 7f trip. That where her claims are coming from.

It should be one of the duels of the day. But this is a classy field which we need to look at more options from.

Tips

REGAL GLORY could knock on the door with some decent form behind her. She claimed a second place finish on her reappearance at Belmont Park at a 7f distance.

That was earlier this month and has won five times from 5f to 1m. She was beaten by Newspaperofrecord in that last effort however.

ZOFELLE may be worth watching as an e/w option if the markets go right. Last month she was in Grade 3 action at Churchill Downs and claimed a place finish in on a 1m trip.

Not the worst of runs and was only a length and half back from the winner. Tougher opposition in this one for sure.
