Race Details

Race 6 of the day from Belmont Park is where the big action starts. This is a Grade 2 Fort Marcy Stakes which is open to 4 year olds and above. The race is over a 1m 1f distance on the turf. There are 9 declared for the contest in which the winner takes $94,500.

Race Favourite

We have joint-favourites currently at 4/1* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 20:59 GMT on Tuesday, 7th April 2020). Those are SOCIAL PARANOIA and INSTILLED REGARD.

SOCIAL PARANOIA is a 4 year old colt who has won three of seven efforts on the turf, taking 3 places as well. He has won two of his last three and the big one of those was in September last year in a $377k Stakes action at Kentucky Downs. The last run he had was in the Sunshine Forever Stakes at Gulfstream in May this year and he was 3rd of 9. He should be knocking on the door and looks rock solid for a place at the least.

Trainer Chad Rogers has three entered for this contest and INSTILLED REGARD is the shortest priced of those. He staked a big claim with a December Stakes win at Gulfstream in a field of nine. He jumped up to Grade 1 for the Pegasus World Cup Turf Invitational Stakes in January and was not disgraced in third place. That’s well worth keeping in mind.

Tips

Another one of Chad Brown’s entries is DAVAMANI. He is a French import and showed up well to claim second at Tampa Bay Downs in early February at Grade 3 Stakes level. The 6 year old claimed a win at Aqueduct in November last year in a big field of twelve, outrunning his 22/1 odds under Allowance Optional Claiming terms. He knows Belmont well and won a rich Allowance Optional there last summer.

Bringing some hot form to the table is GUCCI FACTOR who is back from a 231 day break. He has won three of his last five runs, each of the last three coming at Belmont. That was in a $126k Stakes fixture. There is no way that he can be overlooked in this contest from 11/2* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 20:59 GMT on Tuesday, 7th April 2020).

Race Details

Moving on to Race 7 for Saturday. This is the Winchester Stakes which is a Grade 3 contest. The race is open to 4 year olds and above. This one is on the dift over a 1m 110y distance. The winner takes $63k and there are 11 declared for the run.

Race Favourite

CODE OF HONOR is the 5/6 favourite for the Winchester Stakes* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 20:59 GMT on Tuesday, 7th April 2020). He is one to watch after not getting in the frame in the Breeders Cup Classic at Santa Anita on his last run. That was a Grade 1 misfire from him.

Before that though he put together three straight wins, all rich races including the Grade 1 Runhappy Travers Stakes and the Grade 1 Jockey Club Gold Cup. In that kind of form he is going to be tough to beat. He comes back from a 217 day break and is with a new yard for the first time.

Tips

SENIOR INVESTMENT from 16/1 is an each way option* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 20:59 GMT on Tuesday, 7th April 2020). He has won his last two, both 2020 runs. The latter was a $62 Stakes effort at Laurel Park. It has been three wins in his last five runs, and he is on the up, but is going to be against some tough opposition here.

One of those tough opponents should be ENDORSED. The 4 year old colt scored an allowance optional claimer at Oaklawn Park in early May, so he has a recent successful run under his belt. That was his second win in his last three runs and has scored in 50% of his all-weather trips so far. So he brings some good claim.s

Another one to consider is 5 year old PAYNE from 8/1* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 20:59 GMT on Tuesday, 7th April 2020). He is on a four-timer, those three successes all around the $50k Stakes mark. He has had three runs at Belmont where he broke his maiden at the first attempt and followed up with two second-place finishes. One to watch on his return.

Race Details

Up next is Race 8 of Belmont Park, which is the Intercontinental Stakes. This is a Grade 3 contest for which there are 12 declared to fun. This is a 7f contest on the turf. It is open to 4 year olds and above and the winner claims $63k.

Race Favourite

The aptly named SIGNIFICANT FORM has scored in 4 of 9 previous efforts on the turf. This is a very good 5 year old mare trained by Chad Brown and she is the 2/1 favourite* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 20:59 GMT on Tuesday, 7th April 2020).

Significant Form missed out on a hattrick last time out where she was out of the places even in an 8F Delaware Park contest in December last year. Before that she had struck in a couple of expensive Fillies Stakes efforts. Significant Form has won on her last two trips to Belmont it’s worth noting.

Tips

REGAL GLORY missed a chance at a four-timer on her last run. This is another of Chad Brown’s runners, the trainer having a big hand in this fixture. She was on fire last summer winning at Penn National and then back to back at Saratoga to get that hat trick. She stepped up to a Fillies’ Grade 1 last time out and it was too much. She’ll return after a 238 day break and will be up at 4/1* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 20:59 GMT on Tuesday, 7th April 2020).

Here we go again with a Chad Brown runner. NEWSPAPEROFRECORD, a 4 year old Irish import hasn’t been seen for nearly a year. Last summer the filly knocked on the door at Belmont with a second place in a $126k Stakes. But that was nowhere near her blistering career start where she nailed a hattrick the biggest of which was the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf. Newspaperofrecord is an 11/4 option* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 20:59 GMT on Tuesday, 7th April 2020).

Race Details

Race 9 is the big one. This is part of the Breeders’ Cup Challenge Series. It is the Runhappy Carter Handicap with the winner taking home just under $160k. There are 11 declared to run for the contest which is a Grade 1 fixture open to 3 year olds plus.

Race Favourite

VEKOMA is the 7/2 favourite to take this race* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 20:59 GMT on Tuesday, 7th April 2020). The 4 year old colt is certainly an interesting one at the head of the field. After scoring in a big $630k Stakes at Keeneland in April last year he was sent to the Kentucky Derby. Vekoma finished 12th of 19. He has had the one run this year, which was a score in late March at Gulfstream in a $47k Stakes.

Tips

Another youngster taking this is on is MIND CONTROL. But he is very progessive and is on a four-timer. That start with a Grade 1 H. Allen Jerkens Stakes at Saratoga in August, before climbing the Grade 3 Toboggan Stakes and then the Tom Fool Handicap (Grade 3) both at Aqueduct. He is a very good all-weather performer and brings claims.

The unexposed PERFORMER piques some interest, having won his last four runs. That’s just five racetrack appearances for him. His last run was at the Grade 3 Discovery Stakes at Aqueduct. This is another progressive colt, but the question marks will be there about him taking a huge leap up in grade.

Five year old FIRENZE FIRE is well worth considering at 5/1* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 20:59 GMT on Tuesday, 7th April 2020). He is on a four-timer and the most recent of those successes was just back in February at Laurel Park. That was in a Grade 3 contest. But he is a very solid performer at the top grade and that can’t be dismissed at all. He does go for a new yard but has big claims.
