USA Racing Tips & Betting Odds Golden Gate Fields – 16th May 2020

Another weekend of top USA racing is going down and it’s bigger and better this weekend. That is because Golden Gate Fields has re-opened.

There is also, for the first time in a while, action from Santa Anita as California racing kickstarts again, including some Stakes action.

So here is our look at the top racing action from Golden Gate Fields in the USA for 16th May 2020. Included are racing odds and our tips of the day.

Race Details

This is the opening race from Golden Gate Fields on Saturday. It is an extended 1m Claimer. There are seven declared to run and it’s for three year olds and above.

Race Favourite

MR MAGICO looks to be going to the start as a pretty strong favourite at 15/8* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 20:55 GMT on Friday, 15th May). The 6 year old returned after a 170 day break in mid-February and finished well out of the places. Will that have sharpened him up for this or left him with opposing? We think the latter.

Tips

BLAME IT ON KITTY is well worth a look in this one at 5/1* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 20:55 GMT on Friday, 15th May). The 4 year old will be coming back after a 77 day break.

That last race in February saw the gelding take third of fifth. But that is three straight top-three finishes in better company at Santa Anita that he’s taken. The form is there.

The other we take a look at is TORO DE TORO. The 5 year old is coming in looking to score a double. He nailed a success in an 8F trip at Golden Gate Fields towards the end of March. That’s two wins in the last four starts, at least a top-three finish in each.

This is Race 5 from Golden Gate Fields and it is a 6F trip on the dirt. There are 9 declared for the contest which is a Claimer.

Race Favourite

Heading up the betting field for the Golden Gate Fields fixture is POTENTE ALBA at 15/8* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 20:55 GMT on Friday, 15th May). He is going to be taking on some familiar company after beating Don’tteasethetiger and Whoa Buddy over C&D recently.

So that’s a pretty big indicator, although there was only a length between first and third. Potente Alba has scored twice in his last two starts and has form.

Tips

DON’TTEASETHETIGER is worth a look to try and get himself in the frame again in this one. His last run was the second over C&D to Potente Alba. That was a big return to form for him and it will be interesting to see if he can turn the tables.

The other option for the race is SEAU out at a longer 6/1 quote* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 20:55 GMT on Friday, 15th May).

The 6 year old scored a win on his last trip which was an 8F trip at Los Alamitos. That was the second score in the last three races from him. He could handle himself in the company.

Race Details

This is Race 4 from Golden Gate field. It is action on the dirt in an extended 1m contest which is open to 3 year olds and above. There are seven declared to run.

Race Favourite

ARCH PRINCE is a slight favourite at the head of the field at 13/8* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 20:55 GMT on Friday, 15th May). There is plenty of form there as the 6 year old just missed on a three-timer on his last run.

That ended in a second place finish at Golden Gate Fields. Used to taking on much better company than this.

Tips

There was a good effort from MITHQAAL on his last run. He put in a good challenge to Arch Prince in mid-February in a Golden Gate Contest and only by a neck.

He is coming back after 71 daybreak and following that near miss against Arch Prince, followed up with a third-of-five effort at the venue in early March.

The other contender worth a look at least to get in the places is ANGELO’S PRIDE. Last November he scored at the venue getting the better of Many Roses.

His last effort saw him finish second of six over 8F at Golden Gate Fields. He has lost to Arch Prince in two of his last three, so is looking for a step up in class, but again a decent place contender.
