Race Favourite
The race favourite is SUNSET EMPIRE who is heading up the market at 13/8* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 20:48 GMT on Tuesday, 26th May 2020). She was a beaten favourite last time out, not even getting in the places over a 6F trip at the venue.
Sunset Empire has been used to competing with higher class company than this, so she should be in contention for a score to snap out of some indifferent form.
Tips
Distance winner SPEEDING STARLET is worth consideration in this one for this kind of contest, which frankly isn’t the greatest. She was last out at Tampa over the distance at the end of April, not getting into the money. It hasn’t quite clicked for new trainer Nick Caruso yet, but has bigger claims than her form suggests.
This is a pretty poor field and that could pull 7 year old NIGHTSTORM into the picture. This will only be her third run on the all-weather however. But she returned from a big 378 day break in late April to score 3rd of 7 over 8F at Tampa. This is a 1m claimer which is open to 3 year olds and above. There’s a bigger purse on it than our first race previewed for this card. So it’s a big higher quality. There are 12 declared and this will be on the turf.
Race Favourite
DRILLOMATIC is the 13/8 favourite* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 20:48 GMT on Tuesday, 26th May 2020). The distance winner should be a big contender in this one and is the highest rated runner in the field.
There has been some wonderfully confident form from Drillomatic, having four runners-up and one third place finish in his last five starts. So the criticism would be that the winning touch is missing. But at the very least should be in the money.
Tips
4 year old GATE CREW is an interesting contender at 8/1* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 20:48 GMT on Tuesday, 26th May 2020). He is still looking to break his maiden but came close on his last effort, which was over course and distance in early April.
NO REGRETS may be in the frame as well. The 6 year old has looked pretty sharp in action this year, having secured a 2nd and a 3rd in his two trips, both at the venue. So he has been knocking on the door and can easily handle himself in this kind of company.

This is Race 6 from Wednesday’s Tampa Bay Downs action. This is back on the fast dirt and it is open to 3 year olds and above. There are 10 declared for the contest which is a slightly extended 1m trip.
Race Favourite
Heading up the market is CPL DIONICIO at 11/4* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 20:48 GMT on Tuesday, 26th May 2020). He was a beaten favourite on his last effort and is rarely far from being in the frame.
He was 3rd over eight and a half furlongs in his last effort, a place back of Nicole Munnings who he battles again on Wednesday.
The last trip that Cpl Dionicio took back down at 8F at Tampa saw him claim a win from the position of favourite. It’s been two wins from six starts on the dirt for him and is likely to be there or thereabouts.
Tips
NICOLE MUNNINGS who got the better of Cpl Dionico at the track in early May to take second is worth a look. The 6 year old really shook off some indifferent form to secure than and perhaps just about found his range over what was an eight and a half furlong trip. Certainly one to watch because of having taken down the favourite for this race last time out.
However, our pick for the race will be PRISON PADRE as the 7 year old scored on his last trip. That was in a similar contest to this and raises his claims for this. He was fourth behind winner Cpl Dianoicio at Tampa back in late April but that was in sloppy conditions. He’ll go better on the sharper ground.

Race 7 is the penultimate race of the card for Wednesday at Tampa Bay Downs. This is on the turf and it is a 1 mile Allowance Optional Claiming contest open to four year olds and above. It’s a big field to sift through as there are 14 declared for the race.
Race Favourite
Race favourite is BIRDS EYE VIEW at 2/1* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 20:48 GMT on Tuesday, 26th May 2020). The 6 year old returned from a 193 day break in late April.
He wasn’t in the places for that effort from 18/1 but that was over a longer trip and it was a much more competitive race than what this is likely to be. Bird’s Eye View is generally a very steady performer even at higher levels than this.
Tips
FRENCH GETAWAY is worth a look after a score in richer company in mid February at Santa Anita. His last run was at the same venue in late March so he will be returning from a 67 daybreak. Like Bird’s Eye View he has been in much better company overall than this and he can have an impact.
Coming in with some form is British youngster HOPE AGAIN. The 4 year old has scored 4 wins from 10 trips on the turf. Granted he’s not been in the company that the aforementioned duo have been, but Hope Again has been holding his own at around this grade. Race Favourite
MISS MARIS is the 13/8 favourite for this contest* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 20:48 GMT on Tuesday, 26th May 2020). The 5 year old mare is used to richer company than this. She has been out of the places in her last two runs though, but the sprinter probably isn’t going to be too far out of the frame here. This is a considerable drop in class from her.
Tips
CELESTIAL ORB looks a very good fit for this contest as the 5/2 2F* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 20:48 GMT on Tuesday, 26th May 2020). The mare has been in the money in his last two efforts, both in big fields at Tampa Bay Downs. So she wouldn’t be winning out of turn at all if she takes this one. Celestial Orb’s pretty dependable to get in the frame.
Another good consistent horse lining up in this field is WOWEE. The young filly has been in the top three on each of her last runs, all around this distance at the venue. So she checks a lot of boxes as well, although she was behind Celestial Orb last time out.
