Vasiliy Lomachenko‘s only defeat so far in the professional ranks came when he lost a controversial split decision against Orlando Salido. He has since become the fastest-ever three-weight world champion in history, knocking out Campbell’s compatriot Anthony Crolla at the Staples Center in Los Angeles in his latest defence in April.
He seems unfazed by the fact that he’ll be taking on Campbell on home soil having not fought outside of America since a featherweight in 2014. The Ukrainian has been relatively untroubled since that Salido defeat but did have to get off the floor to stop Jorge Linares at Madison Square Garden last year.

He has an unorthodox, almost unique style which opponents struggle to get to grips with but Campbell does have a good pedigree and seems very confident he can get a result so the outcome may be closer than the odds suggest.
Luke Campbell is a former Olympic champion, winning gold at bantamweight in London in 2012.
He, too, has fought Jorge Linares but got the worst of a split decision with the Bolivian in California in 2017. He also lost a split decision against Frenchman Yvan Mendy at the O2 in 2015 but otherwise has an unblemished record, taking his revenge on Mendy at Wembley last year.

The Hull-born southpaw has stopped his man 16 times in his 20 career victories. he has a considerable height and reach advantage over the champion but his opponent has always done much of his work inside so his corner will not be overly concerned.

Lomachenko v Campbell Predictions – can the Englishman go the distance?

Campbell has been caught in the early rounds of some of his most significant bouts, in particular his WBA title fight with Linares. He is usually back on his feet quickly but takes a while to clear his head and Lomachenko could be out of sight if that happens at the O2 Arena this weekend so the champion looks a decent bet to win on points.
