Villarreal v Real Madrid Betting Preview – La Liga 19th May 5.30pm

Real Madrid have to go out and better whatever their rivals Atletico Madrid do on the final day of the La Liga season to sneak second place from them. So their fate is out of their hands to some degree and they don’t get an easy game to finish off with either. They take on Villarreal who have hit some nice form lately having collected four wins in their last five league outings and will be a big threat.

Villarreal v Real Madrid Betting Tips

Villarreal are carrying home form at the moment with a three-match winning streak under their belt so they will pose a threat to Los Merengues. Their last home win at El Madrigal was a success over fourth-placed Valencia. Their overall home form is W11 D2 L5 for the season and they have beaten Atletico Madrid there was well this season. Take out the two games they lost against Barcelona and Villarreal have done well against the rest of current top four having gone W4 D1 L2 in their seven matches against them so far. So they are going to appeal to punters in this one. The Yellow Submarine have averaged 1.8 goals per game at home this season and have taken a clean sheet in a third of their fixtures. 65% of the goals that they have conceded at home this season have been in the second half of games and therefore the half-time draw at bet365 for 7/4 odds looks* (Betting Odds taken at 9:37 p.m. on May 14th, 2018) a decent proposition. They are currently on a seven-match scoring streak in the league and they have great threats up top through Carlos Bacco and Cedric Bakambu.

So for Real Madrid, their top two hopes rest on them beating Atletico Madrid’s result on Sunday. Real Madrid really just have to win and hope for the best basically. Los Merengues are W10 D5 L3 away from the Bernabeu this season and their form is pretty patchy at the moment. They are W3 D3 L1 in their last seven league games and are carrying on without the injured Cristiano Ronaldo who they are hoping to get ready for the Champions League Final. Madrid hammered Celta Vigo 6-0 at the Bernabeu last weekend but are just D1 L1 in their last two road games, conceding five goals in total in those. Over 2.5 goals at bet365 is at 1/4 odds so not really worth much of a look in, so in the bet365 correct score market a Villarreal 2-1 option is a short 10/1 price* (Betting Odds taken at 9:37 p.m. on May 14th, 2018) which could well appeal. Real Madrid have only taken the one clean sheet in their last seven matches, but have netted in each of their last five on the road.

Villarreal v Real Madrid Head to Head

Villarreal got themselves a great 1-0 victory on their trip to the Bernabeu back in January and that leaves things even at two wins each and a draw between them in their last five meetings. On home soil, Villarreal are W1 D2 L2 in their last five games against Real Madrid. Both teams have scored in just two of the last five meetings. There was a tight scrap between them last season at El Madrigal with Real taking a 3-2 victory.

Villarreal v Real Madrid Betting Odds*

Villarreal 29/20, Real Madrid 31/20, Draw 11/4* (Betting Odds taken at 9:37 p.m. on May 14th, 2018)

Villarreal v Real Madrid Predictions

Villarreal may well be worth a flutter in this one. They have some nice home form going and may well be able to crack what has been a poor Real Madrid back line once again. Real Madrid haven’t been that convincing to really warrant backing.
