Watford v Bristol City Betting Preview – FA Cup 6th January 3.00pm

This has the making of being a very good FA Cup tie. Watford have been really having their struggles recently to land themselves some form and they have been hit with a long injury list. Also, they lost in this season’s EFL Cup to the Robins as well which makes this interesting. Bristol City’s run in the EFL has grabbed headlines, can the Championship side make a splash in the FA Cup as well?

Watford v Bristol City FA Cup Betting Tips

This should be a great FA Cup tie. Watford have gone off the boil, largely down to the number of personnel who have been sidelined. They had a bright start to the season which has faded and the Hornets have now lost six of their last seven games in what has been a really rough slide for them. They haven’t kept a clean sheet in any match since the end of November and that is a nine-match stretch without one. Both teams to score at Ladbrokes has to be considered at 4/5 on the back of that stat alone. This has the making of being a really wide open affair, but Watford have won only one of their last five games at Vicarage Road (D1 L3) but they have scored in each of those home games and over 2.5 goals is worth a look. There was an upset suffered by Watford in last season’s FA Cup as they went out against League One side Millwall in the fourth round. Four Watford players, Richarlison, Okaka, Gray and Deny all trading as joint 4/1 first goalscorer favourites.

There has already been a meeting between these two this season with Bristol City claiming a 3-2 win at Watford in the EFL Cup. All of the goals in that game came after the break in a thrilling match up. Things are even in the recent head to head between them with two wins each and two draws having been played out. They were paired up in the FA Cup as recently as 2014 and there was a 1-1 draw at Ashton Gate before Watford won 2-0 back on home soil. In the Ladbrokes correct score market, the shortest priced option is a Watford 2-0 at 13/2. Bristol City are already pushing hard on two fronts, for promotion from the Championship and in the EFL Cup where they are at the semi-final stage. They will probably place a higher priority on their semi-final first leg against Man City which is in midweek, over this. They have taken EFL Cup wins over Stoke, Crystal Palace and Manchester United as well as their win over Watford this season, but this is probably an extra challenge they don’t need right now and go into it having suffered back to back defeats. The Robins are W7 D5 L2 on the road all season in all competitions.

Watford v Bristol City FA Cup Predictions

Bristol City have just slipped to back to back defeats and it’s going to be tough for them to focus on another campaign here. Watford may just have enough this time around to exact some revenge at Vicarage Park and edge through.
