This should be a great FA Cup tie. Watford have gone off the boil, largely down to the number of personnel who have been sidelined. They had a bright start to the season which has faded and the Hornets have now lost six of their last seven games in what has been a really rough slide for them. This has the making of being a really wide open affair, but Watford have won only one of their last five games at Vicarage Road (D1 L3) but they have scored in each of those home games and over 2.5 goals is worth a look. There was an upset suffered by Watford in last season’s FA Cup as they went out against League One side Millwall in the fourth round. There has already been a meeting between these two this season with Bristol City claiming a 3-2 win at Watford in the EFL Cup. All of the goals in that game came after the break in a thrilling match up. Things are even in the recent head to head between them with two wins each and two draws having been played out. They were paired up in the FA Cup as recently as 2014 and there was a 1-1 draw at Ashton Gate before Watford won 2-0 back on home soil. Bristol City are already pushing hard on two fronts, for promotion from the Championship and in the EFL Cup where they are at the semi-final stage. They will probably place a higher priority on their semi-final first leg against Man City which is in midweek, over this. They have taken EFL Cup wins over Stoke, Crystal Palace and Manchester United as well as their win over Watford this season, but this is probably an extra challenge they don’t need right now and go into it having suffered back to back defeats.
