Watford v West Ham Betting Preview – Premier League 19th November 4.00pm

This should be a good open game from Vicarage Road because there are three points on offer which both of the clubs need. Watford have slipped to three straight losses and now have to show some character to snap that. West Ham are starting the weekend down in the relegation zone in the top flight. For the first time, they will be under the guidance of David Moyes, the man drafted in to come and save them. Will he have an impact in this first game with the Irons?

Watford v West Ham Betting Tips

Watford needs a win in this one to try and get some pressure off their backs. That is because they have slipped to three straight defeats in the Premier League after having posted a really positive start to the season. On top of that, boss Marco Silva seems to be the target of Everton and it would be a big loss for the Hornets if he were to be pried away. Watford are W1 D2 L2 at home this season in the top flight, with their success coming against Arsenal. But they went out in their following home game and despite dominating the game, lost 1-0 against Stoke in a huge disappointment. The Hornets have now conceded eight goals in their three league games and both teams to score at bet365 in this fixture looks a pretty viable option at a price of 7/10. Watford average exactly a goal per game at Vicarage Road this season but have conceded over two per game on average. Over 2.5 goals at bet365 looks a good option for the fixture at a price of 9/10. In the last four Premier League meetings between Watford and West Ham, the Hornet’s slightly edge things with a W2 D1 L1 record.

Richarlison and Doucoure have been the standout players for Watford this season, offering plenty going forward. They are priced up at 15/8 and 3/1 respectively in the anytime goalscorer market. They are joint top scorers for the club with four goals each, but most of their efforts have been away. In fact, Richarlison hasn’t netted a home league goal so far, and only one of Doucoure’s four have been at home. Andre Gray, who has not really worked out so far since his move from Burnley is the bet365 first goalscorer favourite at a price of 5/1. Watford are running without a clean sheet in any of their last seven matches now, so there is much work to be done there. The Hornets have been leading for just 8.6 minutes per game at home this season, having scored only the two first half goals at Vicarage Road.

David Moyes gets his first game in charge of West Ham then. The general consensus is that he will come and make the Hammers harder to beat. However, because of his reputation of not being an attack-minded stylist, the Hammers really can’t afford to take too much away from an attack which has been failing for most of the season. The move for Moyes, who was relegated with Sunderland in his last Premier League managerial job, has been met with wide unenthusiasm really from Hammers fans. Is he the right man for the job? West Ham are already in the bottom three in the Premier League have collected only the one win in their last eight matches, a 1-0 home success over Swansea. Moyes will have to take a long hard look at West Ham’s defence which has been poor all season. It’s a place to start at least.

The Irons have conceded at least three goals on six different occasions this season and they have all been matches which the east London club have lost. They are still on the search for their first away game this season, but they have drawn their last three out on the road In the bet365 correct score market a 1-1 draw is a short 6/1 price and that has some appeal while a Watford 2-1 is right there at 17/2. Javier Hernandez is their top scorer in the Premier League this season with four goals and three of those have been on the road, but he is a doubt after picking up an injury on international duty with Mexico. He and Andy Carroll are 2/1 in the anytime goalscorer market of the Hammers. Not an easy first test for Moyes who will be immediately feeling the pressure if he doesn’t start changing the fortunes of the Hammers.

Watford v West Ham Predictions

Watford to win: The Hammers are going to need plenty of work done to fix their defence and Watford have enough quality in their ranks to pull things together and pick up a home win against them. Moyes is probably going to get defensive with West Ham and that will just give more opportunities for Watford to do something with the ball.
