West Brom V Liverpool League Cup
The Baggies have already scored a big win over Liverpool this season and they may not make too bad of a shot to have a crack at the League Cup this season. West Brom have had a pretty solid start to the season, including the 3-0 win over Liverpool on the opening weekend of the season. But for Liverpool, their miserable run of form continues, with only a dramatic 5-3 away win over Young Boys providing a win in their last six matches in all competitions. It has been a rough introduction for Brendan Rodgers are Anfield and those old problems on not being clinical enough in front of goal are haunting them badly already this season. Will the Reds be able to find some relief from the pressures of the Premier League at the Hawthorns on Wednesday night?

West Brom v Liverpool League Cup Betting Odds at online bookmaker Bet365:
Liverpool 7/5, West Brom 19/10, Draw 23/10

Verdict:
The Reds still are going as slight favourites in this one, despite their run of form and despite getting thumped at the Hawthorns already this season. What does that mean? There is great value in back the Baggies. Liverpool are still without a Premier League win this season and have just two draws to their name. There have been glimpses of the Rodgers style creeping into Liverpool’s play and they pretty much dominated their match against Man United on the weekend, but all that was missing was a finishing touch. They are very limited up front and while many of their man stars will be rested for this one, will their lack of any real depth show them up in the league cup as well? As for West Brom, on loan striker Romelu Lukaku struck a winner on his first start for the Baggies this season and unlike Liverpool, West Brom have plenty of options to call upon to lead the line. West Brom look a very settled side, they look strong and very well organised and will naturally be expecting to deliver another blow to Liverpool at the Hawthorns here. At the end of the day, West Brom may be taking this a bit more seriously than the Reds and that could give them the edge, that and having more fire-power of course.

Head to Head:
Liverpool have a strong head to head lead against the Baggies, winning 63 times to West Brom’s 37, with 38 draws in all competitions. However, the tide may have been turning lately, as the Baggies have won the last two against the Reds, taking a win at Anfield last April in the league. That equates to three wins in the last four meetings between the two sides for West Brom now. Interestingly though, there have traded blows at the Hawthorns with two wins apiece in the last four.
