West Bromwich Albion v Barnsley Predictions & Betting Odds – 22nd October 2019

Big win for the Baggies

West Bromwich Albion v Barnsley Betting Tips – EFL Championship, 22nd October 20.00pm

Top play bottom in the EFL Championship on Tuesday night, as Slaven Bilic’s West Bromwich Albion welcome Adam Murray’s Barnsley to The Hawthorns. Table-topping Albion have won their last three on home soil, while the Tykes have not picked up a victory since the opening weekend of the Championship season back in early August. Everything is pointing towards a hefty win for the Baggies in midweek, but can Barnsley cause an upset in the West Midlands?

West Bromwich Albion News and Form – Comfortable home victory for the Baggies?

West Bromwich Albion are top of the Championship table after making an excellent start. Since arriving at The Hawthorns, Slaven Bilic has lost just one league game as Baggies boss. Overall, Albion have won seven and drawn four of the other ten, taking 25 points from a possible 33.

West Brom stretched their lead at the top to two points by beating Middlesbrough last weekend. It was a tight game at the Riverside Stadium, with Hal Robson-Kanu’s strike eight minutes from time giving Albion a precious 1-0 victory.

The Baggies have secured back-to-back wins since narrowly losing to Leeds United at Elland Road on October 1st. Last time out at home, Albion beat Cardiff City 4-2, and they will be searching for another three points at The Hawthorns this Tuesday.

Key-Facts – West Bromwich Albion v Barnsley

  • Only Preston have scored more (23) than Bilic’s men (22) so far

Barnsley News and Form – Tykes’ winless run to continue?

After a humiliating 5-1 loss at Preston North End, Daniel Stendel’s time at Oakwell came to an end. Adam Murray took charge of first-team duties for the visit of Swansea City last weekend. Despite going a goal down, the Tykes fought back to claim a handy 1-1 draw. However, with Stoke City winning, Barnsley dropped to the foot of the table.

The Yorkshire club have not tasted victory since shocking Fulham at Oakwell on the opening weekend of the season. On their way to promotion from EFL League One last term, Barnsley won 11 times on the road. However, they have yet to win away from home in this season’s Championship, losing four and drawing one of their five away fixtures. No side have taken fewer away points.

A trip to the Hawthorns to face the league leaders is the last thing that Barnsley need right now, but a positive result in the Midlands could kick-start their campaign. However, the bookies have them priced at 8/1 to get the win.

West Bromwich Albion v Barnsley Predictions

West Bromwich Albion win: The Baggies have won their last three games at The Hawthorns, scoring 11 times along the way. Meanwhile, Barnsley conceded five in their previous away match. On paper, this should be a big win for Bilic’s side. Have a punt on Albion to win -2 at 21/10.

West Brom have scored four in each of their last two at The Hawthorns, beating both Huddersfield Town and Cardiff 4-2. I’m backing the Baggies to score four again on Tuesday in a comfortable 4-0 win, which you can get at the tasty price of 14/1.
