Wetherby Tuesday 15:10: Bet365 offer 2/1 racing odds on Lady Master – 17th March 2020

Lady Master can boss the field at Wetherby

This is a handicap chase from Wetherby on Tuesday afternoon to get stuck into. There are six entered for the contest which is over a distance of 2m 3f at class 4. There is an interesting field going off in this one as well, which looks competitive. On Monday evening the bookmakers were dealing with joint-favourites Frankie Balou and Lady Master.

Frankie Ballou 2/1
Lady Master 2/1

Frankie Ballou

Frankie Ballou would not be winning out of turn in this one. He has been improving all the time and edging closer to success. There has been a second-place finish in his last two races, the most recent of which was here at Wetherby at course and distance in early March.

He will be looking for his first win away from Sedgefield and with the handicap right and form on his side, Frankie Ballou has to have a great deal of respect in this contest at 2/1* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 21:23 GMT on Monday, 16th March 2020)

Lady Master
2/1

Bet365

Lady Master

Right up there as joint-favourite in the racing betting is Lady Master. Her last two runs have been at Market Rasen where she claimed a win in a third place. The latter happened after a 7lb rise which she apparently found quite testing.

It was, however, 2f longer than her 2m 3f trip which she had won there in February. She checks a lot of boxes and has at least placed in each of the last five races that she has finished.

As a former course and distance winner too, she has to have big considerations at that 2/1 mark and should be there or thereabouts* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 21:23 GMT on Monday, 16th March 2020)

Roxboro Road

Roxboro Road is going to have a hard time appealing to punters. He has finished only one of his last four trips. He was out on a trip at Ayr in early march and pulled up. His jumping was really poor there and he looked a bit on the lazy side.

He will be back in headgear for this trip, but looks a long way short of quality at the moment and is, therefore, a big risk at 5/1* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 21:23 GMT on Monday, 16th March 2020)

King Golan

Last year King Golan claimed a couple of 3m chase wins. He is off a lower mark than those successes because he hasn’t even been up in the places for some time now. He was last seen in early March at Catterick at 2m and was fifth without ever threatening in the handicap chase.

King Golan is not looking particularly settled at the moment and goes at the 9/2 quote* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 21:23 GMT on Monday, 16th March 2020)

Well Smitten

Well Smitten, trained by Sam England delivered a win at Doncaster around this distance in mid-December. That was the first outing for his new yard and made the most of the conditions in the chase after a significant drop in weight.

He pulled up back at Doncaster in his following trip. Well Smitten was last seen over course and distance in early March and tired very quickly for some reason. He is on the outside of the racing betting at 6/1* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 21:23 GMT on Monday, 16th March 2020)

Show And Go

The outsider in the field and a significant one at that is Show And Go. He was formerly under Henry De Bromhead in Ireland but hasn’t really looked the business on GP visits. Show And Go pulled up at Doncaster on his last race which was at the End of February.

He just don’t look to have enough to pull out a win from anywhere at the moment 25/1* (betting odds taken from Bet365 at 21:23 GMT on Monday, 16th March 2020)

Predictions & Tips

This is not a particularly stacked or quality field at all. But there is an interesting bunch to run through. We are going to kick the main player from the chasing pack, Roxboro Road out of the picture as he was hugely disappointing for Ben Haslam last time out.

So it is for us a two-horse race between Frankie Ballou and Lady Master. The pick is the latter here as she has been wonderfully consistent and familiar jockey James Bowen stays in the saddle.

Lady Master has been travelling well and should just be able to hold off the challenge of Frankie Ballou, who isn’t far away from a first strike outside of Sedgefield trips.
