Reports suggest Meghan Markle’s father, Thomas, will not walk the Royal bride down the aisle of St George’s Chapel, Windsor. The reclusive 73-year-old is now unlikely to attend his daughter’s wedding to Prince Harry after embarrassing disclosures about his dealings with the paparazzi were published.
Mr Markle is alleged to have told the US showbusiness website TMZ that he had suffered a heart attack six days ago but had checked himself out of hospital and had been intending to travel for the ceremony on Saturday. However, those travel plans have now been shelved and you can’t help feeling for the poor man, or his daughter. Given that Mr Markle has never met his future son-in-law or any of his family, might it not have been a good idea for a minor royal or Prince Harry himself to have extended the hand of friendship on a one-to-one basis?
The decision leaves arrangements for Saturday’s Royal wedding up in the air and Ms Markle without her father on the biggest day of her life. But it also raises the question about the role of her mother, Doria Ragland. Will she walk her daughter down the aisle, or will Megham be accompanied by a member of the Royal family, or even make the journey alone?
