When and Where is Wimbledon 2021?

Wimbledon is the third Grand Slam of the season, following on from the Australian Open and the French Open.

There has been a short gap of only a couple of weeks between the end of the French Open and Wimbledon this year.

The main draw for the tournament starts on June 28th and will finish on July 11th.

The tournament is held at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London.

Who is the defending Champion for Wimbledon 2021?

Novak Djokovic returns to SW19 as the reigning champion. He is a quote of 10/11 to get the title once again* (odds recorded at 03:42 GMT on June 24th, 2021 at Bet365).

He will be looking for the sixth Wimbledon title of his career, and the Serbian has the chance of claiming it for the third straight year.

It has already been a big year for Novak Djokovic who has claimed the titles at the Australian Open and the French Open.

His victory over Rafael Nadal in the semi-finals of the French Open really shook things up in the Grand Slams already for 2021.

Djokovic has been to the final of Wimbledon in six of the last nine years. He is the big front runner and the one to beat.

Andy Murray is back in the Wimbledon draw

It has been a while since we have seen two-time Wimbledon champion Andy Murray stalking the courts of SW19.

But he will be making an appearance in the draw for the first time since his quarter-final exit in 2017.

Murray has only appeared in four of the last 12 Grand Slam tournaments and didn’t get past the second round in any of those.

Since the end of his 2017 campaign, has had two hip surgeries and he barely had any action in 2020 either.

This year Murray missed both the Australian and French Opens and has had a groin injury that he has been battling against as well.

Murray was recently at Queen’s but he lost in the second round to top seed Matteo Berrettini.

It is extremely unrealistic to expect Murray to go too deep in the tournament. A fourth-round appearance would be special.

He opens his account against Nikoloz Basilashvili which will be the first meeting between the two players.

Murray is 10/11 in Wimbledon tennis betting to win the fixture* (odds recorded at 03:42 GMT on June 24th, 2021 at Bet365)

Murray lines up in the second quarter of this year’s Wimbledon draw, which is he a quote of 17/2 to win* (odds recorded at 03:42 GMT on June 24th, 2021 at Bet365).

That quarter also featured Stefanos Tsitsipas and Denis Shapovalvov.

Our betting prediction:
Daniil Medvedev
6/1

How far can Federer go?

Roger Federer is having another crack at Wimbledon and is going for his ninth crown at the Grand Slam.

The most recent of those Wimbledon titles was in 2018 and Federer was the losing finalist in 2019 against Djokovic.

Federer pulled out of this year’s French Open ahead of the fourth round because of a knee problem.

But for those thinking he’s done, at least a quarter-final berth can’t be dismissed.

Roger Federer ran to the semi-finals of this year’s Australian Open and thrives when he gets on the grass in London.

He has been to the Wimbledon final in three of the last six editions.

As for the season’s form, it hasn’t been fantastic from Federer at all.

There have been a lot of matches that you wouldn’t expect him to lose. A really disappointing run at the Halle Open, where he usually dominates, raised an eyebrow.

Still, this is Wimbledon and Federer is a 9/1 shot to win it* (odds recorded at 03:42 GMT on June 24th, 2021 at Bet365).

Wimbledon Tennis Betting 2021 – To win 1st quarter

Can Daniil Medvedev, Alexander Zverev or Stefanos Tsitsipas break through?

With US Open champion Dominic Thiem not playing at Wimbledon, there is going to be a lot of attention on Alexander Zverev, Daniil Medvedev and Stefanos Tsitsipas.

They are three of the best younger players around who have each come close to winning a Grand Slam but have not gotten across the line.

Bet at Bet365

Stefanos Tsitsipas

Tstitspas was left heartbroken after losing a 2-0 set lead in the final of the recent French Open against Novak Djokovic. That was the first Grand Slam Final appearance from him.

The Greek’s Wimbledon record is not great, with two first-round exits sandwiching a fourth-round loss.

But he has now been to at least the semi-finals in two of the last three Grand Slam tournaments held and in Wimbledon betting odds is 11/2 to win* (odds recorded at 03:42 GMT on June 24th, 2021 at Bet365).

Wimbledon Tennis Betting 2021 – To win 2nd quarter

Stefanos Tsitsipas 6/4
Denis Shapovalov 13/2
Roberto Bautista Agut 10/1
Alex De Minaur 11/2
Andy Murray 17/2

Daniil Medvedev

Daniil Medvedev brings some big winning form. On the weekend he picked up the grass-court title in Mallorca. That was a title earned in his first-ever grass-court final.

The Russian has yet to make it past the third round from three previous attempts at Wimbledon. But his Grand Slam record is growing.

Medvedev lost the 2019 US Open final and this year’s Australian Open final. He’s been to at least the quarterfinals in four of the last six Grand Slam events.

Medvedev enters Wimbledon betting as the 6/1 second-favourite behind Djokovic* (odds recorded at 03:42 GMT on June 24th, 2021 at Bet365).

Wimbledon Tennis Betting 2021 – To win 3rd quarter

Matteo Berrettini 15/8
Alexander Zverev 13/5
Felix Auger-Aliassime 6/1
Ugo Humbert 12/1

Alexander Zverev

Germany’s Alexander Zeverev has been progressively knocking on the door of making a Grand Slam breakthrough as well.

His big chance came in the 2020 US Open final where he lost a 2-0 lead against Dominic Thiem.

But with a quarter-final run at this year’s Australian Open and the semi-finals at the French Open, his stock is rising.

Zverev has only failed to make at least the quarters in all but of the last five Grand Slam tournaments.

We expect to see him in the thick of things during the second week as a 12/1 shot* (odds recorded at 03:42 GMT on June 24th, 2021 at Bet365).

Zverev is currently the only second favourite to win the third quarter in Wimbledon Tennis betting though at 13/5, behind the in-form Matteo Berrettini* (odds recorded at 03:42 GMT on June 24th, 2021 at Bet365).

Can Matteo Berrettini make a splash?

There has been good form by Italy’s Matteo Berrettini this year.

He reached the quarterfinals at the French Open this year, just failing to match his best Grand Slam effort of a semi-final at the US Open in 2018.

The 25-year-old, who stands at 6’ 5” is on the up and recently picked up the title at Queens, beating the British trio of Andy Murray, Dan Evans and then Cameron Norrie (in the final) along the way.

Berrettini holds a 26-6 season record and is a 14/1 shot to win Wimbledon 2021* (odds recorded at 03:42 GMT on June 24th, 2021 at Bet365).

Wimbledon 2021 Bottom Half Big Seeds

Wimbledon 2021 Other British Hopes

Dan Evans is the 23rd seed for the tournament and hasn’t been past the first week of Wimbledon before.

On grass this season he reached the quarters of Nottingham before exiting Queens in the quarters as well.

Cameron Norrie is carrying very good form. He went to the final of Queens where he was beaten by Matteo Berrettini.

Before that, he had made it to the final of Lyon and Estoril and the 25-year-old is having a big season.

Then there is 19-year-old Jack Draper who makes an appearance in the draw, who gets a dream match against Roger Federer.

Women’s Wimbledon Odds 20201

The women’s game is far more wide open than the men’s. Look at the number of first time Grand Slam winners that have been stacking up recently.

Of the last eight Grand Slam events, five of the victors lifted their first-ever Grand Slam title. Two for the others were won by Naomi Osaka, the other by Simona Halep.

Of the last 17 Grand Slam events, there have been 13 different winners.

Reigning Wimbledon champion Simona Halep has withdrawn from the title defence because of injury.

That leaves Serena Williams as the 5/1 favourite in Wimbledon Odds 2021* (odds recorded at 03:42 GMT on June 24th, 2021 at Bet365).

Williams looks for her first Wimbledon title since 2016 and her first Grand Slam title anywhere since the 2017 Australian Open.

Can Konta make a good run?

Johanna Konta, who was a 2017 semi-finalist at Wimbledon has been nursing a knee injury this year.

She went all the way to lift the title in Nottingham on grass recently. That was a big return to form, albeit in a much weaker field.

With a mind on managing her knee, she pulled out of Eastbourne the following week, preferring to take a rest.

Johanna Konta is a big 66/1 shot to win Wimbledon 2021* (odds recorded at 03:42 GMT on June 24th, 2021 at Bet365).

Konta has received a nightmare of a draw in the first quarter as well, which is headed up by Ashleigh Barty.

Also in the second are other Grand Slam champions Bianca Andreescu and Victoria Azarenka.

There’s also the recent Eastbourne winner and respective runner up Jelena Ostapenko and Anett Kontaveit along with shock 2021 French Open winner Barbaro Krejcikova.

Britain’s Harriet Dart has qualified for the main draw of Wimbledon for the first time in her young career.

She opens as a 6/1 underdog in a match against Elise Mertens, while Katie Boulter looks to have a good chance of progression as the 1/2 favourite against Danielle Lao in the first round* (odds recorded at 03:42 GMT on June 24th, 2021 at Bet365).
