Can Clap Your Hands get a four-timer?

With some hot winning from behind him, four year old Clap Your Hands is a clear favourite here at 5/4* (betting odds taken from Boylesports on February 9th, 2020 at 21:36). His last two wins have been on the track, the most recent of which was at 1m 5f 219y in early January at class 5.

Perhaps the one thing against him is that he hasn’t been up against this class of opposition before so it remains to be seen how he handles himself. It has been flying from him so far but he is going up on a trip. He is now also 16lb heavier than when he started this current winning streak.

Charlie D a threat to the favourite

Charlie D has won twice before on the all weather at 1m 4f to 2m 1f. So he has that going for him. He was a 7/4 favourite on his last run which was at course and distance back in October. He was a distant second there to Selino however in a field of seven. Granted Selino turned out a brilliant progressive performance in that class 4 contest. Charlie D’s last two wins have been at class 2 (Chepstow in August) and then class 2 (Bath in September). At 5/1 he can’t be dismissed on that last trip* (betting odds taken from Boylesports on February 9th, 2020 at 21:36)

Dance To Paris underestimated?

The one thing that mare Dance To Paris will bring to the table is stamina. She has a good track record at distance and hasn’t been outside of the places in any of her last five runs. She took on a similar distance at course in mid-January and was third of 10. Dance To Paris then improved to a second just ten days later at Kempton in another two-mile effort. She has plenty to offer at 9/2* (betting odds taken from Boylesports on February 9th, 2020 at 21:36)

Island Brave

Island Brave has won eight times from 1m to 1m 6f. Six of those have been on all-weather. He was fifth of eight on his last run which was at Wolverhampton in December at a much shorter distance of 1m 4f. He is actually the highest-rated horse in the field and not unfamiliar with this type of company at all.

Yellow Tiger

Yellow Tiger goes off for his new stable in this one and is now trained by David Loughnane. There doesn’t look too much there from the youngster, not in form or distance. In fact this is a pretty hefty jump in terms of distance before him. His one career win happened in July last year at 1m 3f at Carlisle. Yellow Tiger did run at Wolverhampton at class 3 in October and was 5th of 11.

Predictions & Tips

Clap Your Hands has the form without question. Can he handle the weight, better company and longer trip? That may be a lot for him to pull together. He is worth taking on.

As a 5/1 shot it is not going to take much for Charlie D to get things back together. He was only beaten at course and distance last time out by a wonderfully impressive run from Selino. He has enough to get back in the winners circle.
