Does Snow Ocean have the fightback in him?
In his last outing, which was at Wolverhampton last month, Snow Ocean was the 11/4 favourite for the fixture. However, he put in a disappointing run under the circumstance and although he wasn’t beaten heavily, he was only fourth in the race. A lot better was expected him over what was a 1m 1f distance.

Matewan’s form a big threat to the favourite
Matewan has form. Following his first career win which was in August last year at Ripon, he has taken three straight second place finishes. One of those was at Wolverhampton in December for trainer Ian Williams. This is his distance. The only thing perhaps is just finding that extra step because in his last run at Lingfield this January, he was never really a threat to Kyllachy Gala. The finishing ahead of Fire Fighting in that fixture.
Can Fire Fighting douse the field?
Their experience in this race is all with Irish runner Fire Fighting. 13 times the 9 year old has won at 7f to 1m 4f. Had a steady if non-threatening run out at Linfield this 1m 4f distance in early January, a race in which Matewan took second.
The Others
Never Be Enough has never won above a mile but has banked a place in two of her last three outings. So she may be able to pull something together in this one and can’t totally be dismissed as a 5/1 shot* (betting odds taken from Bet365 on January 19th, 2020 at 2:38 pm).
Cry Wolf is a C&D winner having won four times in his career at 1m 4f up to 2m on all weather. Recent form hasn’t been there at all however and was 12tyh of 15 on his last run which was in December. Temur Khan was fifth in his last run at two furlongs further than this distance. There’s not a form that suggests a win for him.
Predictions & Tips
This is an interesting fixture with Snow Ocean hiding things up. He missed out on a hattrick in his last race but wasn’t far away from securing success.
The consistency of Matewan can’t be ignored for the race, but simply because he looked short of finishing pace in his last run, then the extra kick that Snow Ocean has could be the difference maker and is the 7/4 pick* (betting odds taken from William Hill on January 19th, 2020 at 2:38 pm)
